Seems to be a lot of people adding 1 + 1 and coming up with 3.

The community management team don't just have to look after the community of this game, they also have to look after the community for Elite: Dangerous and with the 2.1/1.6 patch for that game going into beta next week surely it's understandable that they are overstretched right now?

With regards to the eventual release, nothing has changed. As recently as today Frontier have reaffirmed that the game is on target to release by the end of this year in a press release to the LSE.

Not really tbh. If my only job was the read/answer/write on forums all day long I surely would be able to deal with what they're dealing with now, including giving updates about PC. I feel like it's excuse after excuse instead of just doing it. Once again, it doesn't have to be a dev log, or even screen shots, but they have to give us something, it's pretty outrageous that they're not at this point. $75, that's all I'm gonna say.

All I'm trying to say is: it wasn't until we got loud with Atari that they finally started sharing information with us. For things to get better, you have to first admit they aren't right.

To be fair, they still post on facebook with some bits and pieces, im not part of the coaster head club, but i imagine there are more pics and info in there as well.

But, I am dying for another video! It was those that got me hooked and to purchase the game. I haven't really played much due to being a new Dad and still being addicted to Dota. I think everyone would really like to see a bit more on what they are up to and to hear from them more on here, it just builds hype and brings more people in, if we have radio silence people lose interest.

Angelis, you summarized it all. Thanks. Let's hope we'll have information soon and have really the feeling to participate to the game process and not just be bug reporter.
Yeah, let's hope !

But the thing is : They have no interest to communicate sincerely with us (except 1] To be close of us and knowing exactly what the community want and 2] perhaps improve a little their image, but this does not represent that much in terms of ROI, because this remains on the forums) so as long as they have no economic interest in doing so, I'm afraid they continue with their boring "radio silence" strategy.

We'll see what happens.

There is actually no need for the sniping and arogance of some members here. They haven't given us any updates. that's it. They can't afford to either right now with the new stuff for Elite coming anyway. We get our update on may 24th and full game by the end of the year.

I don't actually think that's the problem. I think what's going on is that the community team are fully concentrated on Elite: Dangerous at the moment (as they're gearing up for a large release), and the devs who might otherwise pop in with feedback are heads down on getting Alpha 2 done on time. They've seen a lot of content being created by the community, a lot of positive feedback and so their overall feeling will be that things are ticking over nicely. And for the most part it is.

However, I think when they look back on this phase of development they'll realise there's a lot they could have done better in terms of communication with the community. I'm actually not against them using the forums for bug reporting (they used a ticketing system for the Alpha on Elite: Dangerous and support were overwhelmed; what we have here at least allows the community to help respond). The feedback and suggestion forums are sorely lacking in developer activity, and that's what bothers me. There are clearly some underlying themes on what the game can do better (particularly regarding pathing and building) but no word on if or how that feedback is being taken.

[Interestingly, we got more info from a Twitter Q&A at the EGX Rezzed than we've had on the forums, such as confirmation of guest editor "soon" and updated camera controls including edge scrolling]

They haven't given us any updates.

So within the "Alpha" being released a month and a bit ago.
-The caravan concept art.
-The Treehouse concept art.
-Sharing multiple works and putting a video together of the best creations so far.
-Ride signs concept art.
-Male Adults concept art.
-Chubby teens concept art.
-Showing "The Demonic" has different ways to customose.
-The Knight.
-Concepts for shop fronts...

Thats somehow "no updates" I mean, sure the Alpha build hasn't been updated, but its the ALPHA build, wait until May and see whats sorted, everyones acting like spoilt kids and demanding things when the game isn't set to release yet.

No one is an Alpha "tester" you are all Alpha players.
No one MADE you buy the alpha either.
You don't get to demand things as you weren't promised these things within purchasing the game to PLAY alpha.

Maybe you are right.
I do not follow enough the development of "Elite:Dangerous" so I would not make any other assumptions about the reasons. This is out of my knowledge.

Absolutly !

My $75 says different. I expect a certain level of communication when I have not only paid money, but also done work for Frontier, because that's what this is. It's enjoyable work, but it's something that used to be done by an internal group, so when you open the testing up to the public you need to communicate, simple as that.

And for the people talking about how we've gotten updates, that's not what we're talking about here, we're talking about communicating with the people that have tested the game extensively and written numerous notes about their experience, what they feel should be fixed and/or changed. It's rude to not respond to those people, so we have every right to have an attitude at this point.

Was you promised communication and told that you're a tester when you bought Alpha?

No, but for this price, I was hoping to have the feeling to participate a little bit to the development of a game made from the community feedback and without any feedback about the suggestions we made, I don't have this feeling.

They're not force to give us feedback and communication, but I wish they take little bit time for their community. That's it.

Indirectly yes. Creating forums where people can post their suggestions opens up that communication - but nothing has been reciprocated. I used to brain storm a bunch of ideas in the forums, but I stopped because you didn't even get an inclination that they've even read what you wrote. And that's the main issue, people will get tired of helping them out if you can't even get an acknowledgement for it.

I would hate for Frontier to travel down the same road that the other game company followed until PC forced them to start talking again. That is a slippery road and hard to stop sliding once you start. Right now I am getting the feeling that they are acting like a turtle only poking the head out of the shell to look around and then retreating agin. Don't get me wrong, this phase is great and really challenges your creativity, but a little bit of 2 way (we make posts and they say something, even if it is only 3-4 minutes of typing a post once a week) communication would be greatly appreciated by a lot of people that are in the Alpha, if not all.

There's a difference between damage control and properly disseminating news and updates.[mouth shut] We'd rather have our ducks in a row on what we're going to post; over "say something now, then regret the choice later on down the road."

As for the suggestions forum, myself and the other members on the team have seen the threads with ideas in there. Unfortunately, we run into an issue here: if an employee posts in there saying "oh thats a neat idea!" - it sort of will imply that said idea may/will end up in the game when a derivative of it will be in the game and not the extra idea. I'd enable the who read thread X feature on the forums for everyone, but it causes performance issues.

Make note that the forums listed here: https://forums.planetcoaster.com/forumdisplay.php/1-Planet-Coaster are public view access, unlike the CHC here: https://forums.planetcoaster.com/forumdisplay.php/4-Coaster-Head-Club and the EB/Alpha forums here: https://forums.planetcoaster.com/forumdisplay.php/12-Early-Birds

QA will be active in the bug reports forum, that's their job. Customer support and community will be active in the support and feedback forums. The CHC sections falls under the community team group.

Do note, attempting to force us to post news generally will end in silence. I'm not saying that to be mean, I'm saying that from a business aspect. We know you and many others want tidbits and general updates, i think i understand that more than anyone else here. There's a TON of things to talk about, but it's not time to talk about it yet. We won't post news about items regarding planet coaster until we feel the time is right and our ducks are all in a row.

We have a plan, and we're still going strong with it. Please do have some faith. :)
