"No plans to port Elite Dangerous to PS5"

Is that a real quote?

Just i've been moderated and warned before for humorously adjusting the "MacOS closing down" fdev post and converting it all to PS4s instead. Apparently it was "impersonating a Frontier employee", rule 4, so you might wish to adjust/delete that otherwise.

Read this, but substitute PS4/5 for every Mac instance to get the gist, feel familiar situation?

Yes, many times on streams recently. Your post sounds similar to something I posted in January. Only 1 week left to go... :D

Probably not to PSVR, I think it's safe to say... despite the fact they're still "looking into it" since 2017, according to the support website
In this situation it is a bit strange to even think about it, but there could be a good roadmap for ED in VR on Playstation.

Sony announced the PSVR 2 for PS5. So when FDev should announce a PS5 version at some point and they resume their VR support on PC, it doesn't seem unlikely to get VR support on PSVR2 (as the horsepower would be available).

I know, a lot of "Ifs", but one can dream ;)

I'm guessing there's no rule against Frontier impersonating a developer? ;)

COnsidering the problems it has on faster PCs I don't see it working on PS4.
As I said before, understandable sentiments, but we can't know for sure, and given how badly behind schedule the devs are, It's reasonable to assume that they haven't concluded on that, either. the Odyssey PC build isn't even properly optimised yet, so it might be that actually prevents console optimisation work from starting in earnest because of dependencies.

(obviously my own uninformed, and wild speculation)

Hey @sallymorganmoore - If you can, please try and get us a view on current gen console versions for the developer stream - Ta!

Sally kindly acnowledged this, lets see what we get in response...

The sad thing is the plethora of better looking games that run fine on ps4. Gta5 ran on ps3 for Christ's sake. This is like some fake nasa moon landing where they're acting like they just don't understand the technology anymore. Meanwhile indie studios and AAA companies still have no problem doing what they've been doing for ages.

Git gud fdev

She's replying to posts after you and Scoob posted... but not to you, at least not yet, as I type this. Why am I not surprised?

It's like this game fell into their lap the day before yesterday and they're trying to figure out how it works.

Probably because acknowledging an issue means that as a developer you're struggling to make what is effectively a looter shooter on console, and that suggests some problems. You would be better kicking that can as far down the road to deal with later if that was the case. Hopefully by then there's a playable game and all this worry never happened, or at least you don't actually have to discuss it now if you're worried you might let something slip.

All we're asking is: are there any plans to port a native version of Odyssey to the PS5?

In the spirit of the current CM strategy that should be a simple "Yes", "No" or "Wait and See ;-)". Of course, a little context accompanying either answer would be greatly appreciated.

The fact that it's just going ignored consistently since August last year is ... a little disrespectful?

It's certainly in the spirit of FDev's new "communication strategy".

No... wait... no it isn't. At all. 🤷‍♀️

How about an actual answer FDev? You've said "no" quite a lot lately, so this shouldn't be too hard...
