No Single Player offline Mode then?

Oh come off it - it isn't theft just the same at isn't fraud. Your anger appears to be clouding your judgement.

It's a civil dispute that according to the terms you agreed to you may be on the wrong side of..

I would say there's a good analogy to be drawn to it. They've made a clear obligation and made a sales pitch to a lot of interested parties based on claims A, B, C and D (game modes). One month before the game goes live, claim A goes out of the window, leaving Claim B C and D fully intact, so whilst the majority of the game is there, a significant mode -has- been stripped, which causes a lot of people to get annoyed. When people who were invested on the basis of claim A want their money back, they're told they can't get it. That's at the least a massive failure of communication and incompetence of the highest order, and at worst highly shady.

One thing i don't understand:

When people said how disappointed they were with the offline-desicion the were told:
"Then go for a refund and stop whining, problem solved"

Now when they say they are disappointed the will not get one they are told:
"Stop whining, you were never entiteled to get one".

Sometimes this community has an alien touch to me...

Because you're taking a quote from one person and then taking another from another person and expect some kind of continuity.
Have you not noticed there's thousands of people on these forums in these topics?

I have had enough of it as well, its just a few dozen people out of thousands, I will stick to the 'how to' and 'advice on playing' threads

What's wrong with my name? Its original and sums up my gaming ethos. Its from my borderlands tag team. When my mighty twin Gimp Smacker comes on line (he is waiting for the full release) we will be a force for good in the universe,

In that case I like your name,

At first I doubted the priest understood, but I suspect under those robes is a skin tight rubber suit

Oh and to get back on post I am probably not allowed to say what I think about the people on this thread, so I will avoid the swear police by saying most of them are boring repetitive idiots

I just received an answer from the support concerning my refund request... and it's apparently the exact same standard response everybody else has received... (for info I backed the game but never played the beta nor downloaded anything)

If they have to change to scope of the game because you discover that you are not able, technically or financially, to keep your promises; fine it can happen and I can understand that but in that case the least you can do is take their responsibility and refund those who trusted them and backed the game because they believed the promise of the game having a fully working off-line mode.

I know you would say that - in fact you already have!

Thankfully both theft and fraud have clear definitions about intent and nothing we've seen so far shows any evidence of intent.

Still - no harm in popping into your local cop shop/interpol for a 2nd opinion..

So you made an investment and it failed. Therfore you wont invest ever again. Sound logic.

It very much is very sound logic; Once bitten, twice shy.
1) I'll never KS again because I helped Wastelands 2 come to be. I'm one of the people directly responsible for that .
2) I thought I had researched this purchase well enough to be confident in doing so. (Including reading a lot of the forum before deciding on buying.) I've learned to not trust anything that is being said by studios ever again and will from now one only buy stuff that's fully released, and I will even do more research now.

Games or no, it's still a matter of me spending money. And even though I always make sure that the money is spend on my hobby is money I don't need elsewhere; I still don't enjoy misspending it. It's good to learn from mistakes, it makes for wise people.

I can easily make the argument that I'm entitled to one, it's up to them if they agree and honour it, if they don't, I hit them with a chargeback and leave them to clean up the mess. That's how I'll deal with it in this instance. Simples. I'm still somewhat saddened at how David has chosen not to delve into the technical areas of the decision because THAT would have helped settle a lot of minds, and I'm saddened at the fact he chose to ignore a lot of pertinent questions and instead focussed on more spin and PR sales speak.

I'm expecting with anticipation when you will "hit them with a chargeback and leave them to clean up the mess", I'm sure the fallout will be epic and of scale never seen before. They must be really soiling their pants now.

Meanwhile, 4 days left to Gamma - it's gonna be good!

If this was an actual released game and not something in development you just might have a leg to stand on. As it is though... have a chair.
The law doesn't discriminate between "things in development" and released games. The laws talks about "digital content".

Of course if the description of said digital content is "incomplete, has missing features, your mileage may vary, could make your PC implode..."

The Dark knight returns...
Sorry white knights but I can't leave because they refuse my refund...but please not forget to -rep me....I need your bad emotions .... and to the rest of you wich cant leave...come to the dark side I have some legal not exploit not cheating Ideas how we can play in this wonderful Living Galaxy.

I really dont understand why they still believe that all will be good.....you will see ads...and then F2P....microtransactions.... you don't believe.....why? Ah FD/DB said so....They also said refund/offline mode......btw with ads/f2p it is clear why not offline....offline they cant send me ads...and offliner never f2p.....and offliner seldome make microtransactions because they get free mods....AND that is the secret they will hide.

Dude, Bong, Bro.

New elite offline (elite 5 for example) after elite dangerous 4 online?

The annoucement of only online elite is a bad news.
Sadly I think there is no possibility to bring back offline version.

My question is: if elite dangerous is online, I hope that frontier will make a new elite that will be single and offline. Is it possible and is it likely?

Alll people and elite fan doesn't like online game and online elite for many reasons: erratic internet connexion without adsl or enven with adsl (I have adsl and lots of deconnexion because I live ruraly), hate online game, want to play single and when i want etc....

If frontier think elite must be only online, it's a big mistake. Elite can have an online life and an single offline life even it's not with the same game.

I have no idea what best of British is but, thanks. Staying on thread before leaving this one forever I agree 150,000 people and only these few very vocal unhappy ones. I looked through your posts, did you start the entire refund thing? Even if in context you did not mean it?

"We have no intention of taking the servers down, but I understand what you are getting at. We plan to archive the game from time to time (ie matching client and servers and game world state), and would release such an archive if the servers were to come down. That would also address the issue of how you preserve an online game for the future, from the whole 'retro' perspective."

If this is a cast iron guarantee from Frontier that I can still play Elite Dangerous if they take the servers down then I would be satisfied with it.
