All those modes are online modes.
Right, well then solo mode should be offline mode too and characters shouldn't be able to change later on so no issues with cheating / exploiting different modes.

This thread is comical. I don't know what's funnier, all the people who act like they know the law, or the people calling their credit card companies. Offline mode was part of any promise to the kickstarters, it was a developer goal. Big difference there. I looked at the kickstarter page and nowhere did I see "We promise offline mode." No one here has anyone to blame but themselves. Good luck getting your refunds.
Oh, and those claiming bait and switch, or false advertising, need to stop embarassing themselves. That only applies to retail, not while a game is still in development.
I guess because I haven't seen planetary landings I should assume those won't happen either, despite the videos, posts and information released during and after the Kickstarter.
And those poeple who cannot play the game because they cannot dowload the game or even post in this forum because they got no internet connection at all ^^???
Play it safe, believe NOTHING!!!
Im not sure you quite understand the subject matter at hand here.
Surely you must be a lawyer. This is not just about what's legal and what isn't. As we know Frontier have changed lists in their store among other things, which is still legal, but that's no way to treat your customer and it's bait and switch.Oh, and those claiming bait and switch, or false advertising, need to stop embarassing themselves. As mentioned in the newsletter thread the game has changed a lot since the initial kickstarter. One of the biggest changes is the importance of the the offline component to manage the galaxy and interactions. This isn't something we can translate into an offline experience as we'd effectively have to make a new game world - we couldn't share the same world and that throws out the intent for a shared universe.

Kickstarter FAQ said:How will single player work? Will I need to connect to a server to play?
The galaxy for Elite: Dangerous is a shared universe maintained by a central server. All of the meta data for the galaxy is shared between players. This includes the galaxy itself as well as transient information like economies. The aim here is that a player's actions will influence the development of the galaxy, without necessarily having to play multiplayer.
The other important aspect for us is that we can seed the galaxy with events, often these events will be triggered by player actions. With a living breathing galaxy players can discover new and interesting things long after they have started playing.
Update! The above is the intended single player experience. However it will be possible to have a single player game without connecting to the galaxy server. You won't get the features of the evolving galaxy (although we will investigate minimising those differences) and you probably won't be able to sync between server and non-server (again we'll investigate).

Yea people complain that they are not getting what was apparently promised to them. Tho Im trying to figure out some ideas on how it could be still implemented.

Qualify for a refund under the T.o.c's

Did you miss this in the FAQ?
Pay particular attention to the last paragraph.
It was also confirmed & repeated numerous times on the comments pages, by both David and Michael... because it was a question that was asked so often.
Offline SP means you won't get the server driven features. So any galaxy advancement would be limited and the economy less featured. The exact split isn't known yet.

And those who downloaded it and played it and post here but serve in the armed forces etc for long periods without fixed Internet connection and were relying on the promised offline mode, do they qualify for refunds under the T.o.c's?
