I have high speed internet at home to go with that ultra-high-spec computer. But I'm not often home. I also have a high spec laptop that I take with me and which I wanted to use to play ED when I'm away for days at a time in places where I don't have a connection (sometimes not even a data connection on my cell phone)
The amazing thing about the information era that you and I are privileged to live in is the growing proliferation of internet access to all corners of the world. Even aircraft high in the skies over the Pacific have satellite internet connections now.
Even in developing nations, accessing the internet is NOT a challenge anymore. Cell phone towers and providers offering data services can be found all over the planet, and their coverage is increased yearly as developing nations expand their infrastructure.
When I was travelling in indochina, there were internet cafes in every city for those who did not have wireless data or for the privileged few who did not have home computer (which was many people).
Where were you going for business that didn't have internet access, the Tibetan plateau?
