Not just Powerplay actions should be restricted to Open!

Day one they had a forum on Reddit(?, no idea, but irrelevant, it wasn't in ED officially). They didn't have a PMF added into the game at that time.

We still haven't a PMF added.

FD recognized the procedural faction as our PMF, once PMFs became a thing.

We started our own group forum soon after, and a website, and Teamspeak (at the time, Discord didn't even exist yet). We were among the groups (also mostly supporting procedural factions), that through poking at the completely undocumented black box figured out how the mechanics worked and wrote the BGS guides and shared the knowledge in the old BGS thread and now subforum you're now benefiting from as a current BGS player.

Loads of people and player groups have played the BGS without PMFs, but with procedural factions, and still do. PP BGS plays with procedural factions. Let's see, at least two groups, possibly more, in the Dangerous Games (including, obviously, AEDC), whose pre-selected finalists were all chosen based on the size of their supported faction, were there through the success of their procedural minor faction. Is that ED official enough for you?

PMFs are a late addition to the game, added in on request. Moreover, beyond their name and description (and that no new PMFs can be inserted into another PMF's home system), PMFs are indistinguishable from procedural minor factions. They behave completely the same. The work is the same. They're nothing special in the game. The fact their your PMF and player group share the same name and ours does not means absolutely nothing.

Since PP is a long ago feature add, since you still haven't a PMF added, this DEFINITELY means that BGS and PP are pre-PMF.

Here's what we do.

We SAY we're making a EDBG and put it as teh default option for a week, right, then we shrink the bubble, gank everyone in open with thargoids in god mode, delete the stations and star systems then claim it's all over thanks for all the fish, haven't you all got homes to go to.

Then we start up again without the PvPers, from a saved backup and don't tell them.

Actually, creating NEW open mode, with different BGS and save files copied at the moment of release and then separated as well have no possibility of creating any valid concerns from every party involved.

Not that you had a valid concern in the first place, but it DOES void your preferred complaint. Something asked many many times before: Open PvP and Open PvE.

I would not say thay it is up for PvE people to decide whether or not PvP have problems here. But creating new open mode is the only way to solve all current problems regarding modes at their root.

The only "problem" is players trying to force people to play the way they want them to. There's no functional reason why multiplayer should be forced, across any of the modes of play or activities. None.

What you need to do is decide what you want with PvP because everything ever brought out to BE PvP has flopped badly, and at what point can we decide that to try it over again would be insanity.

You had no valid complaint because the reason for it was your mulish refusal to get out of your comfort zone and try PvE if it seemed so much easier for you.

All I would say that PvP people have to "try" PvE crapton more than actual PvE players. Cause they need top engineered ships with alot of trial and error on top of it. Never thought of that?

I am not a fan of UA bombing... But this move to change PowerPlay is only going to open the flood gates for the "Open Only" rabble who won't rest until the entire game is Open Only.

It will be a dead game/community "when" that happens, but the handful of loud mouths pushing for this idiocy will have finally gotten their way.

power play is a pvp driven game mode and should've been set up in Open only from the beginning. the fact that players can hide in solo or private and influence systems in powerplay is b/c the opposing faction cannot engage them in open to stop them. i get most don't like playing open b/c of the risk of rebuy increases but honestly, the danger of griefers, true griefers not someone roleplaying or powerplaying, is blown way out of proportion. I play in solo when i am doing some engineering sometimes so I would say I play in open 95%. I would say 99% of all commanders in open are cool and either ignore me or are helpful. I haven't heard anyone in community wanting the entire game in open nor I think Fdevs would do that. It would kill ED and everyone I know that is for power play in open also wants private and solo play for when they don't want to engage in pvp.

If PP goes open only, it's only a matter of time before the howling starts on xbox and ps4 are doing the 5th column thing to the pc crowd.
