NPC Wings In Solo Play- How will You Adapt?

I would welcome some more risk in solo or PvE play but the number and quality of NPC interdictors should be scaled according to location, Anarchy worlds might then feel like they used to in Elite (i.e. you don't want to go there until you have a decent ship and decent combat skill).

Considering how incredibly stupid the AI is, I imagine getting away from a wing of AI will be no problem. Just put on a cowboy hat and a fake mustache and tell them, "He went that-a-way!" Then you'll suddenly hear some cartoon noises or Benny Hill music and they'll likely fly into each other.

On a serious note, here's what I expect to happen; 1.2 comes out, improves the AI to some unforeseen super difficulty, and AI wings become unstoppable packs of ravenous wolves who control entire systems. Thousands of players file tickets to get back lost fortunes. Dangerous Discussion posts increase by 100 fold.

Hopefully, neither scenario happens and 1.2 brings much needed balance and combat challenge. Oh well, at least we'll have external cameras from which film whatever ensues. :D

You watch things in life from the wrong perspective...

There no better AI in game to day than in ED

From what I recall, the AI improvement will consist of them more actively avoiding your field of fire. I don't think anyone (from FD) has suggested that they will become stronger in terms of armaments or better shots, and I imagine that their ranking will continue to determine how effective an opponent they are, as well as to a degree the ship they they are flying will determine the lethality of their weapons, so if you get interdicted by a wing of Elite Anacondas, might be best to run! It's all speculation. :)

If they get the balance wrong initially, they'll likely fix it. I remember when I fist started playing (in beta), I got interdicted a lot, and since I had no combat skills, I got good at avoiding interdictions. FD then toned down the number of interdictions, possibly too much, and now it seems to be about right. Those changes happened very quickly. They seem to be doing a pretty good job balancing the game so far when all is said and done.

I think wings in solo mode is a fantastic idea, if the ai will be at same level like at the moment, then you will get credits faster for combat. Some scaling is needed so sidewinder or eagle pilots dont encounter wings with huge ships often.

Also buff limpets and make pirating a bit easier, and let those trader+escort convoy wings be looted!

I've already done some pretty good preparations. I've noticed that NPC interdictions almost completely ceased for me in both federal and imperial space after I got allied with them both. It will be dangerous when I move into the Alliance to pacify that too. But when I'm doing that, I'll be doing it in a Conda.

Wings sounds great, but what about lone players?

I tend to play alone online as that's how I like it, but I always play in open.
With wings does this mean I will be interdicted by gangs of ships?
So what does a lone player do other than keep away from built up areas or play offline?
What happens if I am interdicted by 4 players who just want to destroy. Do I just get destroyed?

At the moment with 1 on 1 I can decide to fight or flee. But 4 on 1?

Sounds interesting but potentially disasterous.

You can play solo or in a private game. So from a pvp this issue is kind of irrelevant, just stay out of open world. For the NPC's my guess is just like with players encountering wings will be less common and even more less common to encounter npc pirate wings. If you do get hit by a wing obviously you run unless you heavily out gun them.

Well , I asume that one day you will be able to hire NPC wingmen , there was somthing like that in one of the early combat demo (during the beta?)

Well, I don't think wings would change a lot for the majority of the sectors. There are very few sectors where I've seen more than 4 players each time and all of these systems are worth to stay away if your are not a PVP fan.

Saying play in solo is a silly response. There is lot to be enjoyed playing in open play and this does the OP no good.

Just to note, there was a player in Beta getting hit 7:1 by NPC's. With video.

He went into a strong signal source looking for trouble and found it.

I doubt 7 Vultures would be interdicting lone traders or else FD can just close up shop now. No new player would be able to get past Sidewinder or Hauler.

Does this mean that instead of having 1 NPC try to inderdict me in my little exploring Adder 13 times out of 16 in no-pop Anarchy systems, I'm going to meet 1d4 instead? Oh joy! :(

1D4, then the next 1D4, then the next 1D4...

We would not want people getting bored would we?

Solo has more interdictions (and I believe also has more AI in supercruise) to counter the fact there are less players. As such it seems as likely as not that the number of wing interdiction encounters would be dialled down for the same reason.

That's a myth until i see proof or read conformation about that.
Things like that have been stated again and again, but for now it's nothing more than a forum theory that went viral.
