Nvidia 3D Vision

It about 30 years OR is in development and all the time now it work. But the never tell more then 60% user have head pain and other sickness issue to use it to much!

sorry I was thinking that OR and 3D was the same conversation, my bad.

as far as OR making it, 2 billion dollars should make that not a problem.

actually by pure technicality it is already out, Gear VR.

True, I think that OR will make it in some form. But crucially, I think that having a serious backer behind the OR shows the world virtual reality can be a reality, and that means other companies will invest, now that one has taken the first risk.

So here's to a merry VR 2015!

They sent mr wolf directly, 3d vision is now supported and is just way to cool! Now i can play eat drink in 3d with track ir and the track clip (not the pro dont waste money i got both an clip is better once setup correctly+not teatherd)

its like an oculus experiance without toasterhead syndrome!

Are you talking about compatibility mode in new driver ? I have tried it and it looks almost like 2D (if there is any way to configure depth let me know please)

I tried to include 3d screenshots, but it seems that I can't do it yet :)

hi goto your NVidia control panel then go to set up stereoscopic 3d then set keyboard shortcuts enable advanced control then play with depth convergence and fustrum do this inside a station or outside looking at it too get the best results for the way you perceive depth use cntrl t to turn on and of to measure how much it appears changed.

the best place to be for effect is an asteroid field so go there for a 3d play around and fine tune
make sure to hit ctrl alt plus f11 to get the display into the correct mode ie it will appear not 3d were as the other mode will appear very 3d but items at wrong depth an lights at stations appear absolutely wrong.
ok once your in the mode that doesn't look very 3d use cntrl f3 f4to bring depth to near maximum
next is the triky one as nothing appers to happen but hold down cntrl f5 or f6 till the tops of your scanners go wonky then bring it back to less distorted an presto 3d ok not as good as rift but much better than none 3d wotsoever personally I have field of view slider set to medium to wide
note if done correctly cntrl f-5 -f6 can make your left right scanners distort so much they no longer appear round do this then bring the distortion back to near circular but not quite and you should see the 3d effect
N.B LATEST NVIDIA DRIVERS ARE A MUST FOR THIS TO WORK 347.09 OR ABOVE

Compatibility mode looks flat to me, no better than standard game. Full 3d renders the suns incorrectly, and some lights move out of position. otherwise looks impressive

It's not that simple at all. You need to remember how SBS-3D and 3D Vision works.
In SBS the images for both eyes are shown at the same time while in 3D Vision only 1 image per eye is shown at the same time.
To Convert SBS to 3D Vision you would have to take the SBS-Image, split it into two and display them one-by-one after the other. That takes it's time. And time is the problem here.
You can't display the 2nd image when in the same time the game already rendered the 2nd SBS-Image.

However, you could half the effective FPS, e.g. making the game render in 30 FPS which would sum up in 60 FPS after the SBS-to-3D-Vision-Conversion...
You also have to remember that every splitted SBS-Image is at half resolution width too.
E.g. 960x1080 stretched to 1920x1080 is not very sexy for your eyes...
Yet you could *probably* fix this issue by driver-sided tricks like Nvidia's new DSR, which makes the game think your monitor can handle resolutions like 3840x1080 which would end up in kinda real 1920x1080 after the Conversion...

Would be quiet a big hassle to deal with... But probably still accomplishable, more or less.

Yes. I tried running SBS at 1080p on my projector and it looks like sh*t. I can force my projector to display SBS 3D after enabling it in-game, but the resolution is halved and stretched. If there was a way to render both eyes at 1080p like Nvidia 3D Vision, it'd look damn good, but right now it's blur-vision with the current SBS 3D implementation. Disappointing :(

OK, having read STRONTIUM DOG's post now, I will concede that it does indeed have 3d. It's just not very deep even with full depth on. Plus the sides of the screen are clipped off making some of the status screens (or the nav panel on the galaxy map) very difficult to use.

I'm trying to get this to work. I have 3d vision and a 3d ready monitor

3d is enabled but I Currently I have 2 side by side displays. How do I connect them up?

HMMM I cant seem to recreate the clipping you speak of though, I agree the depth is SEVERLY lacking (hence depth cntrl to max) but the 3d effect is present and the background starfield does not appear in front of objects
maybe playing with fustrum cntrl+f11(three modes) and in game graphics field of view may cure the clipping you encounter

sorry cant help with multiple display setup only have a single screen myself so no experience.

quite how NVidia give the compatibility 3d mode an excellent rating is entirely a false statement and currently should be changed to poor.
the cockpit looks great in 3d but there is little to no depth beyond it

I have an oculus and nvidia 3d vision. I love the oculus but my kid can't watch me play and in those cases I'd love to have nvidia 3d going, (I have an extra pair of glasses).

Unfortunately, the joke isn't very funny. I saw the Nvidia beta driver update, mentioning 3d vision compatibility mode rated excellent, and got my hopes up. If you were considering testing out, I don't recommend wasting your time. It literally looks like your playing, regular Elite Dangerous. There is NO depth what so ever. I even tried changing the slider bar in Nvidia control panel, and hitting cnt-f11 to cycle the different settings, no change. To make things worse, your 120hz monitor is now dumb down to 60fps, and removing your glasses gives you a useless blur. CNT-ALT-F11 and WOW, back to amazing stereostropic 3d...with the galaxy background layer out of place, and the left eye right eye shadows not matching. Most games disable shadows for 3d anyway, so if that pesky galaxy background was fixed....sigh.

Sorry Capt. Kirk, I know you set phrases to stun, but Oculus isn't going to work for me, but I am glad to see FD committed to that front.

I'm glad I saw this, you just saved me lots of troubleshooting time. I went through the exact same thing. Very disappointed.

As a long time 3D vision user give up. Its a dead end, Nvidia never fully supported it, most people don't even "get" it, which is a shame because its amazing when done right.

I have an oculus now, its the future at this point. I don't even look at my 120hz monitor while playing elite these days ;)

Sad really. Their SBS isn't all that great. There's issues with elements of the UI being flat or having depth issues. Posted about it in the VR forums since it's the only place talking about 3D and basically was told to F!@# off. So yeah.

I have 3D vision 2 as well. Was pretty bummed that they support Oculus and 3D tvs but not 3D vision? really? SBS support for TV's? how many games do that? Like zero.

Based on how little support Nvidia seems to have given to 3d vision since 3D vision 2 (I have both), there most likely isn't really any benefit to supporting it as a developer.

A normal nvidia user walks in to a bar and says "Why do I always get this 3d vision icon on my desktop whenever I update" :D

I play on a Bravia 42" HD TV, I've used 3dPlay before to convert games to 3D, and it works brilliantly, and I mean really good. I tried the 3D mode for this game and yeah, don't look 3D at all to me, more gives me a headache. I don't use active 3D anymore, the glasses are just horrible and give me a massive headache. Now use Passive 3D, works brilliantly, on PC, Blu-ray and PS3. But back to the point, i agree, 3D in this game does not work, I've tried the games native 3D and the 3DPlay way.

3D VISION

Hi all,
I saw most of subjects, but no real answers.
I play with a 3D VP at 1080p24 and there is a convergence problem with 3DVISION (NVIDIA) , the left image and the right image have a parralaxe but it is the same whatever the depth ..... I see 3D but no depth ....
If I force with Ctrl+Alt+F11 several objects (eg planets) are cut into 2 and it's impossible to play in these conditions.
I tested the SBS options without NVIDIA and all is OKKKKK but with a resolution divided by 2 :-((((

I think it is just a code problem for the angle of the second view (because the SBS mode works )....
Would it be fixed for 3DVision ???

because I currently testing with the account of a friend, but I will not buy it if the problem remains.
