I think you would. No one would keep the galaxy servers working for 10 or 20 players. With your proposals above be sure that only 10 (or very optimistic: 20 at best) players would still play the game. Which I wouldn't mind btw, I play Solo anyway.![]()

I had that happen a couple times early on. Seemed like they weren't wanted until they actually attacked IIRC. Like I scanned the target and attacked before I looked at the scan and realized it wasn't wanted.
I don't know for sure, but I think (at least at that point in time) that the target NPC didn't go wanted until it attacked the friendly NPC.
Wing assassination missions sure are fun to do solo though.
You had to bring "REAL LIFE" into it ok, how about this.. You get a charge of trespassing here is how you fix it in real life. You get hauled away to a jail 500 miles away you pay the fine and then you have to get yourself back 500 miles home, or you get charged with trespassing and go to the local police office in the town you got charged and they say you have to go pay the fine 500 miles away and you will be cleared. You should be able to pay the fine in the system you committed the offense. Simple, logical and reasonable. FDEV either screwed up or enjoys ing off it's player base. This part is correct and all that is needed imo. Restricting C&P to PVP would be a huge mistake. First because it's possible to be just as "evil" to other players via PVE crime as it is through PVP crime, particularly in the BGS. And second, because doing dumb things needs to have consequences, otherwise it doesn't matter if we do the right thing or the wrong thing, everything is Ok and nothing has any meaning. WRONG. Even accidentally shooting a cop in real life would land you in prison. If it's ok in Elite, then that just makes the game more silly, think about it: Shooting a cop once or twice is Ok, but a parking violation is a capital offense?
NPC's are like gimbals if you choose to use them you take the increased risk, actions have consequences. I recall my fighter if it's a furball, or more commonly just pilot it myself.
That way there's no chance of a mistake.
Never makes mistakes, on the resume. That's like someone in IT saying they have never had data loss.
The 2 hours AFK will be great viewing
Joking aside I can see a walk through of how the system works could be a good thing to show.
I don't know, but some of them seem to break a lot more easily than others. Doing them in a FDL was way too easy, and got pretty boring. So now I'm trying different ships and loadouts too. A pa / rail dropship is fun.
They could probably be soloed in a small ship tbh, but I haven't tried yet. It would take time, but a long range fit courier could probably do it easily.

Thanks Obsidian - your videos are always welcome and command respect.
That said.

Imo, the mechanic couldn't be simpler.
1. Commit a crime, get a bounty, go the IF to get it cleared.
2. Commit murder and you have to wait for Notoriety to cool down before going to IF and paying the bounty.
3. Commit lots of murders and the ATR will come knocking til you die or leave the system.
Most people won't go past step 1.
It certainly does achieve the goal of adding just enough consequence that people (myself included) are suddenly a lot more careful about where my bullets fly and how I fly through the mail slot. This is a good thing because now flying like a jackass is no longer a consequence free option. Hence I now fly like a civilized person in an immersive galaxy where anti social behavior and etiquette actually matter.
One of the biggest takeaways for me here, is that in hindsight, I shouldn't have focused so heavily on the two examples in the video and should have instead focused far more heavily on the issue I was actually getting at. The C&P system is a complex mess.
It seems the sticking point for many people is the "friendly fire" and "getting stuck" issue. To a large extent those are irrelevant, because they are just symptoms of the larger problem.
Some people say the C&P system is "simple". I disagree, because every time they say it's simple, they fail to factor in jurisdiction, Detention Facilities, where you will spawn, where you won't spawn, hot ships, hot modules, how you can clean them, when you can use them, when you can't use them, what constitutes a crime, what doesn't constitute a crime, notoriety, how does notoriety decrease, can you be docked to decrease it, do you have to be inspace to decrease it, what impact does notoriety have on station services, at what point do ATR turn up . And that without even discussing Powerplay, rebuys, scaling bounty costs etc. The list goes on and on. And the biggest crime in all of this, is that the game explains none of it to you.
Like everyone else, I want consequence in the game, and I want depth. But this isn't the way to go about that.
Some people say the C&P system is as simple as: Commit a Crime => Find IF and Pay Bounty / Get Destroyed and Pay Bounty.
But here is the reality:

That rule is specific is target is wanted *before* scan. If someone's pirate first meal of the day then it will be seen as assault.
lThe funny thing is that I am, as a civilian, flying a lot more in Wanted state as a result of lots of stacked planetary missions. So *if* I would fly in Open I certainly would be a potential target for PvP bounty hunters, so basically (potentially) a good thing. On the other hand are local assault bounties a lot easier to handle now. The main difference is that they are stackable now without exponentially increasing a waiting timer! No need to leave system anymore after every single scan. And systems with an IF facility are plenty, at least for ships that don't require a large pad.
So from my (very limited) point of view of a solo player this part is a true improvement while putting me also on the fence from NPC police or bounty hunters. First thing I had to learn that they are allowed to attack me, simply because they are clean, I'm not. And they stay clean, even if they did the first shot - cause they have the license, I have that bounty on my head. So even one shot back is a mistake, killing that (un)lucky novice bounty hunter results in one point notoriety. That's all I have to keep in mind - for now and if I want to avoid notoriety.
p.s. I'm checking this all out with my (still alive) ironman build. So I'd say the whole system can't be all that complicated...
Okay now back to reality. For the "innocent" bystanders that you claim are being adversely impacted in your video, the flow chart will never be more complex than this:

The flowchart you portrayed (as pertains to the actual complaints in your video) is at best a histrionic display of hyperbolic tangents.
Slowly the game is converging towards something better, but it’s a bumpy ride and takes forever.
Here's what happens to people who think they are the best, and totally prepared for everything:

Bob Hoskin's best performance. A truly great film.
Happy Good Friday!
Taking too long. You can haz my stuff. I spend more time on the forums. I've made some friends. I had a bump a couple of weeks ago and played for a few days but then I stopped playing again. I'm okay with that. It's not the game for me. These forums are better than facebook. There are some good characters here. I accept that my expectations were unrealistic. I still like visiting the forums and shooting the wind.
Dropping the 'ol Double H-bomb on OA? Next time why don't you tell him how you really feel?
