At a time when Frontier are cancelling console development, withholding resources from popular issues on the issue tracker and saying nothing about the future of ED other than it has one, I don't think those titles are anything that hasn't crossed players' minds at some point.

Haven't the 'old school' been claiming ED is doomed since the Gamma?
They'll be right one day, for sure.
Me, I still reckon the servers will go off 31st May 2023... And can't wait to hear the squeals over "broken promises!"

But titles/thumbnails are bad, or something I do not know man, up to OA to judge obviously. All I can tell you is that in my particular case that clickbait is not working very well.
2 or 3 people bring up some decent points about why they aren't enjoying Odyssey and like 10 of you come marching in calling some guy a Karen for complaining about the game. You even start defending Fdev on the first page, like its just an instant reflex action.Indeed, look at the contributions in this thread...

In 2014 I backed Elite Dangerous and got the lifetime pass on Kickstarter. It has proved to be fantastic value. Yes, EDO implementation in VR is limited but overall this game is still the best VR experience I have had. The progress the game has made has been phenomenal when one reflects back...forums.frontier.co.uk

I don't agree with the bashing either but this is one of the worst posts I've ever read on this forum. And I am quite surprised by the list of people who liked it, people that I usually respect for their input even when I don't agree with them.I’m new to this but I’m quickly learning there’s pretty little point to posting opinions on forums like this unless you’re prepared to get slapped down. I have in contrast learned a lot from the likes of Obsidian Ant over the last eighteen months. I have personally found his YouTube channel to be well balanced and fair in any critique. Probably the most fair in fact. I’ve also been entertained. I was disappointed to see Hawkes go when he did, having learned a lot about the game through his channel, but I could understand why. I’m always entertained and informed by the Yamiks and Down to Earth Astronomy too. I’ve always felt that CMDR Buur was more of a company man but even his latest content has moved more toward the critical. Maybe that’s because there’s something to be critical of?
You know I’m grateful when observers and commentators are willing to recognise when the glass is half empty. There’s a lot of commentators here who seem to want to ignore anything that might be negative and only look to their glass half full. The thing is the glass can only be filled to the brim if we can recognise it was half empty to begin with. It’s only in recognising and accepting the negative that we can do anything about it and turn it into a massive positive.
Personally I’m grateful to those who are on the journey with me, walking alongside and might stop me from walking into a big pile of. There appear to be those in the community who for whatever reason don’t want to recognise the

But that is by the by. Not sure arguing semantics or personal definitions of what click bait is is going to lead anywhere useful. All I can tell you is that whatever you want to call it in my particular case is not working out very well. Click bait by someone who probably even barely plays the game would have a reasonable chance to have that effect. But hey that is just me.

Yeah, it's a fair point. I don't want to blanket excuse the issues. I guess I just have a bigger tendency to leniency because Elite is already a niche game made by a studio that is not exactly among the megacorporate top-tier that are operating.
But I see these people pointing to SC when they criticize Elite, and all credibility basically flies out the window. And there's no way to know somebody's exact situation for the game. Nobody knows how much someone can't run it unless they tell them, and you can't get better if you don't keep playing. But I know from my own experience what a large impact those two things can have on where the goal posts are.
My issue is not with longtime veterans who are very clear about their concerns.

It's not even the worst post in this thread. That 'honour' surely goes to #74, which in its second paragraph of Olympic class whataboutery manages to comprehensively break the rule on political discussion?
I thought the post just said it how it is. Its clear that OA was on the whiteknights hit-list for a while ever since Odyssey dropped. Even D2EA and the whiteknights aren't exactly seeing eye to eye considering some of his comments about the state of the forums. Yamiks has been the devil ever since 2018/19. The Pilot and Will/Kate are probably seen as traitors. Buur is probably next on the hit-list if he keeps sharing his honest opinions.
Essentially at this rate, all ED content creators are going to end up being Anti-FDev trolls according to the whiteknights. It doesn't even cross their mind that they might be the ones holding the sword of obvious bias instead of these content creators.
Why this post is apparently one of the worst you've read is baffling tbh.

Blaming the entire forum and community for the opinions of a handful of misguided people is just ridiculous. It's actually worse than the 'white knights' themselves. When I see this thread, it appears like 90% are defending OA against those random nonsense attacks. How can anyone come to the conclusion that it wouldn't be allowed to post a critical opinion on this forum when the vast majority of this thread consists of ridicule and spite towards the so called white knights?
I mean, it's not like they don't deserve the ridicule, but being part of the majority and claiming to be an oppressed minority just stinks so much that I need to vomit a little bit.
COD Infinite Warfare's single player campaign is great fun (it was the Squadron 42 that actually released)

You're probably right, but this can still be an honest sentiment. It may appear nonsensical but forums only get visited by a minority. Which means the extreme opinions are easier to articulate. And in a shrinking environment they become more prominent.
I don't read in thread much either - I dropped what I think about OA and done. I don't have any money in this anymore. I rant about 2.1 sometimes and that's it.
I should start a notebook to track every time babelfisch claims a post is the "worst one ever", along with every time he's surprised or disappointed that people he respects let him down.
I'm not defending the post he's looking at. It makes a few good points, but then it goes off the rails IMO with all the chocolate ice cream. But at least he's not outright accusing people of spousal abuse because they identify problems in a video game.
