Oculus Quest 2 for Elite Dangerous

I have been trying various things all afternoon and cannot get it to work...

There are some who say they are able to launch the game in VR from the EGS launcher, but I can't tell if they're using the Oculus Quest 2 ...

I got it ...

1. Connect Oculus to Computer using Oculus LInk
2. Turn on Quest 2
3. Allow it to use Oculus Link to connect to computer
4. Once in the Oculus App, tap the "Virtual Desktop" button
5. Use the handheld remotes to open the EGS launcher
6. Go to Library
7. Under the Elite Dangerous box art picture there are three little dots, click them.
8. Select "Elite Dangerous in VR" (or something like that)
9. Wait a bit. When it starts, Oculus gave me a warning about running unapproved apps.... Had to take my headset off, and then go to the Oculus App > Settings > General and switch the Unknown Sources toggle to allow apps that have not been approved by Oculus.
10. Headset back on...
11. Hang on to your seat...

Just got a quest 2, massive upgrade from my trusty DK2, Seems to not now recognise my X56 in controls, anyone else come across this?

Correct answers get a free banning of their choice.. ;)

That's really weird, is it defo selected in the controller section?

I have to swap out joysticks for my bonkers config to my wife's boring one.
Using Q2 via unofficial link cable.
No issues.

Does it work at all? It's not just wiped your control config? Though that would be a huge ballache!

Just not appearing in the controls menu, I'll probably disconnect everything and try different configurations.

Yep. I was also having X56 issues at the same time as introducing the Quest 2. Phantom key presses in my case. But I've not been in game for a while, either VR or otherwise. I walked away when the problem presented, not that it was the reason. I just say because there may be a deeper issue here. It may be worth raising a ticket if you don't find a solution.

May not help but the X56 is a power hungry monster, not sure about the Quest2 + Link cable but the only way I managed to get quality connection was by installing an internal Inateck superspeed PCI daughterboard (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00B6ZCNGM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which resolved all ghosting issues.
Maybe the Q2 is fighting with the X56 for resources?

Possible, ive attached them to a powered usb hub but still no joy yet, they work fine in the x56 software just not in ED atm.

Grrr and all that...

Have you got a backup of your controller config file?
E: I mean binds file.

Might be worth checking your all up to date on windows and if your MB manufacturer has released a new BIOS. Or just enjoy the game now its working again :)

I actually decided to go for the quest 2 too.
Already have the rift s.
But I'm thinking some games are way more fun wireless and I'll give the oculus link a shot for Elite dangerous, maybe even try playing it wireless and see if I can stomach the lag.
I'll post my impressions here when I get it on the 13th.
Hopefully you guys can do the same so we can let people interested know how it handles ED
Hey man, i'm still really confused as to whether or not this will work with ED. I've got a friend who would like to purchase a VR headset, but I'm not really a VR person so I'm not experienced. Could you let me know how/if the Quest 2 works with ED? I dont care about the requiring of a FB acct, i just want to know if it works, thanks man.

Got my Quest 2 working as follows, fully wireless with ED. It's awesome getting up and stumbling around anywhere you can in wifi range seeing different bits of the cockpits :)
Follow the instructions here...

Run Steam VR Elite.
That's it :)

I also grabbed a dedicated 5ghz router off ebay for like £20, and set that up as an access point just for the Quest2.

Amazingly, it runs much better on wireless than with the link cable.

My PC isn't very good (4790k+1070ti) so I have to dial the resolution settings back a bit in SteamVR, but it's still way better than my old CV1.
It runs fine though!

not seeing quest controller option in elite dangerous, just got my quest 2, and trying to give ed a go, i have it on my headset using AVLR for now whilst waiting for a replacement link cable, i bought this one first, 90 Degree USB C to Type C 3.1 Gen 2 Cable 10ft,Fasgear from Amazon, but it didn't work on my Asus tuf laptop, so i am waiting for the anker one instead.
But, back to my problem, in my headset going to settings and controls, i see no option to select my quest touch controllers, i can only use my xbox pad, could this be because i am using the free AVLR to connect with.

I dont know if thats true because there are definitely oculus touch controls when connecting via link, it actually works great! The only time it doesnt work is if we use VD. Everything works great except no controllers being detected.

so maybe it was the AVLR wireless connection, well my link cable arrives soon, so will see if i can select them.

ok, got my link cable to work, after setting everything needed to use discreet gpu, and the touch controllers are supported now with the link cable, just gonna take me a while to learn the new controls.
