Oculus Rift and colours in Elite Dangerous thread

Try this one! It's inverted, so you get a smooth cyan color that goes easy on the eyes. Cyan has green in it, so it's more readable aswell as the pure greens
<MatrixRed> 0, 0.5, 1 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 0.5, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 1, 0, 0 </MatrixBlue>

Have you tried using the dedicated power supply to the tracking sensor? That is meant to be one possible fix for 'flaky' tracking like what you described.

I think this is the winner right here. I plugged it in and played for 15 minutes (which was ample time considering my experience yesterday) and it was seemly working without a hitch. I'll give a more definitive answer later as a try to play some more. Thanks for the tip!

Edit: Just to be clear I have a 750 watt PSU but I also have a ton of usb devices plugged in.

This completely solved the color wash and flickering. The service still needs restarting every launch and a lot of the times from alt tabbing.

I had no issues with version 1.00, but I get the gray flicker now too.
Nothing has changed on my end, no updates to drivers, no hardware changes.
I will try to restart OVR before play sessions and see if that helps.

Double check the file location. If you played in Beta there are remnants of the old files in there including a version of GraphicConfiguration that doesn't contain the UIColor data. If you see TWO folders under Products, you want the newer one.

Thank you, i went back after running the new exe and it was there.

So has anyone tried the green ui settings and noticed an improvement in reading the text now?

I have and it's improved text readability massively. I can now read without squinting. It's actually quite amazing. My settings are:

<Default>
<LocalisationName>Standard</LocalisationName>
<MatrixRed> 0, 1, 0 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 1, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 1, 1, 1 </MatrixBlue>
</Default>

The only problem is that I'm not getting red triangles in combat, so some tweaking needed I think. Anyway, it's just so much better it's hard to explain, so try it out.

Someone posted this scheme. Haven't tried it myself but it states enemies are still in red after the change. It looks good in the pictures.

(Terminal Green)
<MatrixRed> 0.18, 0, -1 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> -1, 1, -1 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0.17, 0.31, 1 </MatrixBlue>

It's no more readable than orange and indeed is worse in some respects (text is too dark). I'm just going to live with the basic full green matrix until Frontier add colour theme support in game I suppose, even though it means I can't see red blips on the radar.

Cool. I simply wanted to subscribe to settings here as forum doesn't seem to have that option unless we post. Cheers.

I am going with this, the green text is particularly readable

<MatrixRed> 0, 1, 0.25 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 1, 0, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0.1, 0.50, 0.75 </MatrixBlue>

For those interested, my UI colours are (I guess) lime green. It’s a dark UI with the text coming out very clear on my DK2, the overall green colour is not extreme

<MatrixRed> 0.1, 0.15, 0 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 1, 1 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0, 0, 1 </MatrixBlue>

My in game gamma brightness is about 55% and GUI brightness is about 45%

Just thought I`d add my settings, again Green overlay.

<MatrixRed> 0, 1, 0 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 1, 0, 1 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0, 0, 0.55 </MatrixBlue>

Code:
<MatrixRed> 0.2, 0, -1 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> -1, 1, -1 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0.17, 0.31, 1 </MatrixBlue>

Green overlay, Radar: Green friendly/missile/can/mines, Yellow neutral, Red enemies

Album

That's interesting. I had tried this mod a few days ago but couldn't deal with enemies showing not in red on the scanner.

Do you think it's possible to change the text to green without touching the radar blips?

How do I fix my GUI for hud color?

I\d like to make this change, but I can't find the gui file.... can someone tell me how to reveal hidden files on windows 8.1 ?

Go to

C:\users\your login name

then in the White search bar type

\appdata

After your log in name and the folder contents will appear. Choose local then Frontier developments folders then products then FORC-FDEV-D-1002
