Oculus Rift Community Request List

Live Links to sidewinder radio and lave radio... Also a link to your pc playlist... It's a pain trying to stop / start in the rift.

I think this list would be better if it was pure Rift and/or VR bugs/features/requests. The white dot appears for me in basically all black hole or neutron star systems. Not related to Rift. Same for many others there. If this is pure VR it will make more sense for the devs to treat it as such.

I'd love to know which ones are rift only but I can't tell as I only play the Rift. Please help me achieve just what you say as that was always the goal

Add option to use side by side 3D along with oculus head tracking, track ir or other,
Side by side 3D has very fast frame rates compared to the Oculus options.
Chromatic aberration and distortion can then be done using sweetfx, instead of the oculus dll.

Hope you don't mind, but I'm leaving that one out. Too much work for the devs.

' Too much work for the devs'

you never know, some stuff for devs is actually really easy, people just think its hard.
im a dev,
and even if they see a suggestion, they may come up with a better idea that kills 2 birds with 1 stone instead.

my next idea,
- categorise the graphics options into sections,
-- pre porocessing
-- processing
-- post processing

this beacuse, i would like to remove all post processing from the ED loop, and do it in sweetfx, since it just does does such and amazing job.

This is a great thread, and my major beefs (note taking, onscreen KB and HUD colours) are already on the list- good work, drkaii. The galaxy map could use some work, but I added controller bindings, and that helps a lot. The main additional features, that I would like for improvement of VR are:

Galaxy map bookmarks system- it will be a lot quicker if you can tag systems and return to them quickly.. esp when trading! Setting up the navigation in the Rift is so time consuming that it puts me off playing- to the point where I play less than I did before I got the Rift.

{erk, forgot the other one, will try to remember}

I too would like an in-game clock. Maybe over on the status panel I can turn to look at. Oh, and let me set my time zone please, not everybody is in the UK :D Why? Because if I don't take my headset off to check my system clock, I could end up over-playing and play right through the night! I have to work in the morning, and the fewer times I have to take my headset off and break immersion, the better.

Hah, I had this exact dilemma recently. Then I remembered that my phone was lying on the desk, somewhere out there. So I just said "OK Google... what time is it?" and it responded out loud. That is most pleased I have been to have that feature yet :D

- remove the headrest on the all the cockpit seats, so that when i look up at passing objects, my view isn't obstructed by the headrest.

An automatic preference to give a landing pad at the back of the station so I can make a slow shallow approach rather than whoosh down at 90 degrees on the other side of the toaster slot, causing me to bring up my dinner.

Anyone else feel like it's a blessing to get a pad at the rear?

no way. I am playing in a cockpit.. and I have my oculus "reset" to the exact position so when I lean my head all the way back in my real chair, my head hits my real seat right when my VR head hits my VR seat. It's awesome.

headrest toggle next to sex in options settings

or maybe a whole customizable cockpit thing, I'd pay cash money for cockpit skin DLC and I'd buy it separately from ship paint no problem

I understand now,
I need to go out and buy a chair with a headrest, so that when i look back, i bump my head, and need to swing my body left or right, in order to continue looking around behind me.
That was my problem all the time. doh

If you say so mr dev. I'll stick them in at some point, in an "advanced" section.

2 things. first is that bookmarking isn't a rift only problem, everyone wants it. Admittedly it has additional benefits for us. Secondly, you have a clock on the galaxy map. Although it didn't update with DST today and I suddenly had 1 less hour to do all the things I was supposed to do after playing before my wife got home...

Nah. That's a design choice. We can't mess with those. Cpt. Mur'ca is right. You either need to get a headrest, or reset yourself to be slightly higher or forward so it doesn't get in the way.

Re my SBS 3D Headtracking options request,
it turns out it can be done already,
3D Side By Side already supports TrackIR,
so if you install OpenTrack, you can use the the Oculus head tracking and open track will convert it to the TrackIR protocol and it works,

So for you all settings micromanagers, here is a new thing you can try,
Install Open track,
Select 'Oculus' tracker and 'Freetrack Enhanced' protocol
Switch on DK2
Press Start on OpenTrack,
Open Elite:Dangerous
Select 3D Side By Side in graphic settings,
Now you have the option to experiment with Video dimensions, Frame Rate and VSync on/off at the same time with your DK2,
You have a lot more granular control now, but you will need to experiment a lot,
I couldn't create a better combination than what the Oculus (HeadPhones) option does, but I came close before I ran out of energy trying.
