Odyssey Going Forwards

Thank You @David Braben for taking things in to your own hands and making hard but necessary decisions. Postponing work on consoles release and prioritizing core game (PC).

Well, how about a next clue for how to find Raxxla and/or The Dark Wheel station ?
Question, can it be found by just exploring or is it a quest and Raxxla have to be unlocked ?

You have made the assumption that Raxxla and the old lore content is actually written and included in the game already, but no one has found it.

I do not believe this to be the case. It simply doesn't exist in the game we are playing. There are regions of space we are locked out of, so that's probably more interesting, but that only offers a chance for the developers to test features on the live game servers.

So, you really want to tell me, that you're willing to spend 40 quids for this product in a state that it is right now? For what? To have another reason to flame against Frontier?

P.S.: Those questions are all of rhetoric nature and I don't expect a reasonable answer at all.
Every release we have had is full of bugs and “Brocken” fdev never get the game to a unbroken full of bugs state so us being made to wait does not get us an unbroken none bugged version of the game, fact!

Yes the version you have is full of bugs but is playable as proved by you all playing it! Would we all love a version with no bugs, is it ever going to happen no!

The only reason pc cmdrs don’t like console cmdrs complaining about this is due to the fact you for once we’re being told you were having to wait upon console release and you did not like it! Fact!

And I don’t expect a reasonable response from you!

Well that's not correct. Elite (1984) wasn't on consoles. Neither were it's successors up until ED. A lot of the fanbase are playing ED because of their time in the earlier versions.
Elite Dangerous came out on PC first and the majority of the playerbase, I would bet, is PC.
Console isn't an after thought, it's a logical step to port it over to them because it increases the market and therefore sales.

But getting it all sorted on PC first and then porting to consoles makes total sense.
As I said in my post THIS elite was always multi platform I was not talking of the pria elite version please read Fully before replying replay

The problem is, the version we have now barely run (and for that i mean stable 30fps at 1080p in odyssey settlements content) on PCs above the recommended specs, it wouldn't run AT ALL on ps4/xbone.
And we are not talking about tweaking a few things to run it on console or fixing a few bugs, there's a lot more work they have to do before even thinking to have it run on consoles.
They might even fail to reunite the horizons players with odyssey players

Well perhaps DB would not have had to step forward to try and stem the flow away from the game, if they had used the time proved method of Proposals}-Ideas}-Instigation}-Alpha}-then the all important }-BETA (missing in this case) before release. I feel personally that this missing BETA added a major negative to how the expac was presented developed and used to garner more income in time for shareholder's pockets.

Don't get me wrong, in a free society I appreciate the financial need sometimes to add shareholding partners to the mix, but they should not be the major concern or driving force of any company especially with such a customer oriented base as Elite. Perhaps in some ways Chris Roberts system for financing Star Citizen has some merits in this instance, I don't know.

However I have to confess I had over £120.00p invested in his enterprise until I ran out of patience and under the terms clawed back my investment. Noticed lately it still looks exciting but as I am not into PVP having spent quite some time in the Eve Online fraternity which jaundiced my view of PVP in free for all space games, and was pleased that the game I played in the '80,s (this one) allows me into space on terms I can set for playing PVE/PVP.

These are just my thoughts and I do hope Elite blossoms into the wonderful experience I believe it could become.

I would rather have a working product than this excel show :)
Would you be playing for 6 years with version 1.0? I wouldn't.
All the development over the years has ADDED to my experience & kept me playing/got me back playing.

I'v not been excited about EVERY SINGLE addition in the game & with Odyssey, having a footy pewpew addon would not be my preferred addon.....but that's personal choices.

Performance of Odyssey seems OK to me, on the two laptops I'v now run it on, dunno why?

Maybe it's because I don't around with my Graphics settings (cos I don't know what I'm doing), the game chose my settings when I loaded it on my laptop...they've not been changed.

Maybe I don't care what the Planetary Tech looks likes when playing....no offence Tech team

Maybe my expectations of how good I want the game run & be optimised are lower than others.....who knows.

Sounds great, thank you. I'm enjoying Odyssey immensely. The updates to lighting and planetary tech have been particularly impressive, while SRV exploration is that bit more challenging. I've seen some very beautiful things out here in the Scutum-Sagittarii Conflux. My gratitude to the entire team for the remarkable achievement this game really is. Thank you very much for all your hard work. o7

This is unfortunately quite often the case - users will exaggerate when venting and others believe it and rant for the same thing... While in reality it's not as bad. (Not talking about refund policy specifically, but about negative criticism in general).
Odyssey doesn't work on my hardware. I7 6700HQ, GTX 1080, SSD, 32 GB RAM. I have 50-60 fps in space. On foot a maximum of 27 fps, but there are such fluctuations that it drops to 3-4 fps. All this on LOW DETAIL, Supersmapling 0.65. Is it normal? I don't even mention the bugs anymore. At the beginning I would like the game to run smoothly.

[I'm gonna assume that's not you telling me your own impression of performance of streams was influenced by confirmation bias...]

So, you don't believe the people who are posting that they're getting half the performance in Odyssey that they get in Horizons?
Want me to stream how it runs on my system so you can see how well an average system can cope with running the game AND streaming it at the same time?
Quite honestly, you don't go streaming gameplay on YouTube unless you've got high-end hardware which can cope with the demands - you yourself admitted it still didn't look like it was running perfectly even for them. A lot of the streamers are complaining about dropping from 200+ fps to ~80 fps, so you're not gonna see much difference given that YouTube caps video at 60 fps.
Believe what you wish of course.

I do think it was a bit rude to respond with just a two word allegation of logical fallacy though.
Sorry, i wasn't clear. You were talking about a conformation bias. Only the youtubers that can stream are. I was agreeing with you, not calling you out.

Its conformation bias to say that the game is fine since the stream are fine.

Thats what i get for posting when im tried.

No, it's not normal. As a small consolation, my 2070s is only a little bit faster, and I can keep it >50 with high details in 4k. That means your hardware should get it at 60 locked at ultra easily in 1080p. It just needs fixing.

So, apart from the word confirmation, it feels like you're mostly agreeing with me?
He's not. You said "much content" and the much is what is questionable. It can pretty much be guaranteed that it won't be any major content injection and it could well be limited to some community grinds that they'll inject. At best it may include some variation of existing play, such as new SRV models or on-foot Thargoid combat, but whatever it is will likely be quite limited, will largely involve re-skinning of existing assets, and not involve any real new game play. Presuming the promise of new content is real, which given FDev's track record is not guaranteed - indeed, it could be just more purchasables, which would be the ultimate insult.

In short, I wouldn't expect too much, if anything.

Now if someone could publish and informed "roadmap" that explained that all of the things we have been told are not in Odyssey will still not be in Odyssey...
Or otherwise, if things have so completely changed, of course ;)
There you go:

Nope.... ED was a pc game ported to console, it game to Xbox 1 at a guess 6 months after launch and was not even mentioned on PC launch, and ps4 was later still.
I could be wrong but didn't Xbox launch at the same time as the CQC dlc? This was...... 1.3 wasn't it (I could cheat and Google I guess)

. And the moment that it did come to console we lost regular pc updates and instead reverted to living with bugs for ages.
I am no pc master race console hater, quite the opposite and play games on just about any console you can think of......

I also hope ED:O does come to console BUT it is only right and fair that people who have ALREADY paid for the game are either prioritised to get a working version OR at the very least bulk refunds given out until it is fixed without users having to beg for one..
The latter would cost FD a fortune so imo the former is the right decision. Fix the version that they have already sold before spending time on a different version.

Oh and btw just to be clear IF ED:O never comes out on PS4/xb1 at that point I will fully support your toys going out of the pram. I can't throw them with you as my oculus store version got deprecated when ED:O launched so mine already got chucked..... And there are some Mac Lads (and lasses I presume) who would also feel your pain. Until that announcement happens however there is still hope it comes to console.
