Odyssey VR specific bug reports - please contribute!

I can see two of my Issue Reports fixed in the latest patch notes but unfortunately neither of them are VR related 😅
Belay my last - my issue report regarding Scatter Cell Fade In Value Resetting has been marked as “Fixed” (when driving or flying at low altitude you’d eventually see boulders and stuff disappear as you approached them and then immediately fade back into view).

@Malic - this might be of interest to you as you originally brought the issue to light.

I’m still away from my VR computer so I cannot check for myself, but hopefully that’s a little bit more VR joy from Update 16 👍

I don't think I've seen the double-infade in quite a while, but that could of course be because I've got so used to it, my walnut filters it out every time it does happen. :p

I’m back with my VR system now and I’ve checked out Issue Report #51167 - after a good drive-flyve around in the SRV I’ve not spotted any existence-unsure boulders. I can spot occasional rocks fading in but they at least had the decency to not have already been previously visible 😁

I'm not sure if it's the same issue but I haven't seen any floating rocks at planetary stations, either. These used to show nearly always as you were leaving the hangar. Rainbow and disappearing rings are also not happening for me, though I saw someone else's report (not sure if VR) that they were seeing rainbow rings.

That’s good news if it’s been fixed - it’s a long standing bug that was fixed way back in Horizons but made a reappearance for Odyssey.

Thanks for the heads-up, I’ll go on a planetary port journey tomorrow to see if I can find any anti-grav rocks 👍

I'm afraid it's a big negatory from me on rocks being subjected to gravity:

It’s patch day!

And there’s nothing in the patch notes about VR!

I’ll be checking for undocumented fixes later anyway but I’m not holding my breath 😅 At least the missing planets in SuperCruise have been noted (even though they were fixed in Update 15) as it will bump up VR issues a little bit, for what it’s worth.

(Hopefully someone near Issue Tracker can also give the Expire-O-Tron a kick because it’s not been functioning since 1st August 😁)

Well the one time I managed to get into the game it looked like all existing issues were still present - but we’ve got a new one as an added bonus 😅

The left hand HUD holo is now a double image, mostly of the same thing but sometimes - like when launching - it becomes two overlayed objects (like landing pad/planet). Looking off the the right causes one of the holograms to move off to the left. It looks like the monitor mirror is capturing the problem so I’ll get some footage once the servers have stopped burping and get an issue report put in.

Yay.

In which way are shadows a problem? Did not notice any difference.

The video looks interesting. I have no such issues with the target hologram jumping around. At least before the latest patch (have not logged in since patch 17 yet). Makes me wonder if certain issues are just tied to specific VR setups?
Using a HP Reverb G2 with a 4070 (recently, 1080 before that) with recent gpu drivers (537.42) and graphics wise I never really had any strange issues like those. Except for the chat window being wiped each time when looking at it, at least it was acknowledged months ago so there is still hope: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/55228 .

edit: just logged in, targeted a space outpost and the hologram on the left does not jump around for me. Could be setup specific then. Either hardware setup or ingame graphical settings... or both.

I'm not seeing any issues [knocks on wood]. I got on early after the update and everything worked fine. Even planet generation flew by quickly. Getting the missions menu to load took about 10 seconds the first time with subsequent times being the usual quick. Flew around Sol, targeted a "weapons fire" signal, no issues. Jumped to a couple of nearby systems, FSS'd them, dropped at a Haz RES and bounty hunted some, no issues.

To compare notes, I'm on an RTX 3080 12Gb with Nvidia's 537.58 driver, a Quest 3 running at 1.3x and 75 FPS in the Oculus app, and HMD = 1.5x in ED. In the Oculus debug tool: Encode Resolution Width = 4128, and Bit rate = 400 Mbs. Special fx, shadows, blur, bloom, occlusion, are all turned off or set to low.

PS: Our lovely Schrödinger's cat issue where the Comms text is there until you look at it, it's still with us. More than 2 years of a committed, faithful relationship with this bug. And they said this wouldn't last.

It was fine this morning prior to the servers going down. It wasn’t fine after Update 17 got applied.

I haven’t changed any hardware or software settings in the meantime.

😁👍

Also, shadows flickering like mad in the middle distance, slowly disappearing SRV shadow as you drive away from your departure point, cockpit shadows flickering on and off during Glide and other times - some are linked to Ultra settings but there are plenty of confirmations on the issue reports, and they are voted into the Top 20. All links are in the OP 👍
