Odyssey VR specific bug reports - please contribute!

I'm a VR-only player, so I'll check it out tonight. I'll have to turn orbital lines on, since I never use them. The VR audio issue, though....I disable my VR headset audio since I have a music/video studio, and all my sound runs through a mixer. I'll be curious to see if the problem is just in how ED tries to communicate with the headset, or if this issue screws with ALL audio when in VR.

I cannot confirm the audio issue - I had normal sound in my G2 today with no problems. I did notice the orbit line issue, although I don't think it is as clear cut as "being near a planet". I had the issue being in supercruise more or less system wide, and it seemed to have fixed itself after a jump. I'll keep an eye on this issue though... but only one ;).

It will be good to know if there are other trigger conditions at play here - I can get the issue to reliably occur under the conditions I posted (the point where a planet changes from being just a white dot) - or if it is not resetting for G2 users once it has triggered.

I just played another hour or so, didn't come across that bug again in that session. Could be coincidence, but when I noticed it, I had been fiddling around in the comms menu, and when closing it via the UI button, I was missing an eye ;). Looks like the bug is a bit more random depending on hardware and setup?

I’ll check to see if I can get it to trigger with the UI buttons 👍

If there are any other G2 users who could keep (one) eye out for the problem, I’m sure more data points will be helpful.

the one eye jokes will never stop, will they... :D
Aye, they won’t 😁

I cannot get the issue to occur with any amount of UI jiggery-pokery but I’ve also confirmed that the trigger for me is roughly 3.5Ls distance from landable bodies - orbit lines are perfectly fine in both eyes near ELWs and gas giants, for example.

I will recheck the "landable" part. So far, I had no issues near gas giants and earth-likes.

I'm getting the orbital barf inducer bug, too. I haven't tried with too many planets yet but seemingly anything that pokes out an extra, random ring out of the planet, switches to this single eye issue. My carrier sits in a gas giant RES and I have the issue there. A station in one, and a CZ near another planet/moon also show this issue, and all have the extra random ring.

The random ring has been there since they adjusted the orbital ring size to make them look like churros. Maybe not as often but it was visible at times. What's new is this thing with one VR side when near them.

Not sure if this is helpful to those having bugs ingame in VR. But I'm not. Really...none.
I got ingame vr settings on ultra and an insane high res with this crystal light.
It's just perfect 🥰
No reprojection, no lag, no artifacting, no tearing nothing!
3090fe with amds new asus board and a 7 7800X3D In it with 64 gig ddr5.

Edit
Nope wrong iam getting these issues. I've replied to relevant tickets.
Sorry for misinfo

So you don’t have a view glitch on every jump, brightness difference in each eye when near stars, flickering (now absent for me) shadows at certain distances, or the new problem with orbit lines? Holo-me works fine for you?

If so, you are very lucky to not have them or the few other Acknowledged issues currently active 👍

I guess I should include that I'm currently using the Meta Quest 2 headset. VR problems being reported may be limited to certain rigs. Again, I'll login tonight to see if I can duplicate the latest issues some are reporting.

I just got into it last night, and I can report that I'm not experiencing any of the issues others are faced with in VR. I tested all of the items you referenced. I may simply have the right combo of VR rig, processor, memory and GPU. And there's no guarantee one or more of those problems won't eventually show up, but that was my experience last night, during 2 hours of play.

That’s very interesting - I’ve had the momentary view glitch when jumping since June 2021, with a Quest 2 + GTX 1080 followed by RTX 3070ti, and then with my current RTX 4070ti + Quest 3 (also upgraded the motherboard twice, new RAM, CPU etc.), and I can easily reproduce the brightness difference problem during fuel scooping by rotating my ship so the star is on one side of me (the effect is subtle but definitely there). Holo-me has been messed up since Odyssey came out (the head and shoulders zoomed-in view isn’t, and half the controls are cut off if you try it from a concourse terminal).

Are orbit lines good for you in both eyes if you fly within 3.5Ls of a landable body?

I think it’s great if you’re not seeing these issues but I’d also request anyone who says “it’s all fine for me” to have followed the reproduction steps in the issue reports before saying they’re not getting the problem on their computers 👍

I pretty much mirror your setup over the years and have all the issues you mention.

The brightness thing next to a star look almost natural too me, like there's too much light coming from that side and makes it uncomfortable, but the effect you mention is definitely there.

The missing orbital line issue is super annoying. To the point where I'm turning off orb lines when I'm approaching a planet. Even fighting near stations orbiting a planet, I can see the issue. Trying to fly though the megaship crevices makes it very difficult as you can't really see where the edges are.

Shadow behaviour has definitely changed for me since the last update - the shadows at the distances where they used to flicker are totally absent. Unfortunately they often take all other shadows with them 😅

What I’m seeing now when approaching a station is something like: most shadows on - shadows off - shadows partly back on - square shadow linked to my head movement - shadows off - shadows on - enter station.

Shadow flickers for me are massive now while in the hangar but totally gone when I'm on deck above. No shadows in my carrier, hanger or docked above, or approaching anything. I do have shadows at the lowest setting (off?). Last time I tried it, upping shadow settings reduced it somewhat but did not completely fix it.
