OK NPC Ramming OUT-OF-CONTROL At This Point, anybody home at FDev?

Honestly, if FD has said that they can't reproduce this bug, then their QA team is completely incompetent.

Surely they haven't really said that?

TBH, dismissing this by saying "It's only a problem if you're speeding at stations" is misleading.

Sure, collisions at stations are a symptom of this problem, but they're not the cause of it.
Go to ANY location where there are lots of ships/structures/objects close together and you'll see the same thing.
NPC ships crash into stations and other ships, they crash into asteroids in RES's and they crash into structures such as orbital shipyards, comm's relays and military stations.

The actual problem is that somebody's messed around with the NPC AI (possibly in an attempt to make them more aggressive) and it's made them reckless.

And the only way FDev's "QA" team might not see that is if they're busy playing with dinosaurs instead of spaceships.

I recently got an Anaconda and been rammed 3 times by a cop trying to scan me while i was going in a straight line out waiting for the mass-lock.

Whenever I hear that engine sound get closer I back off so im not "speeding" and don't get the fine.

On the other hand my Cobra is so fast the cops cant get to me :D

Everybody that's been playing a while knows that this is nothing new. We had it exactly the same before. At that time, the forum was full of threads exactly like this one. It was fixed in the first update thereafter, but now it's back again. It's as if they got mixed up when they assembked all the code modules for 2.4 and used the faulty 2.2(?) one instead of the fixed 2.3 one.

The NPCs don't charge at you without slowing down. Instead they misjudge your distance and overshoot. If you see them coming, you can sidestep at the last moment, when you'll see that they go a bit past you then backup and scan you.

Yeah, except when you cannot keep an eye on them constantly, because you're busy fighting with another NPC, and the incoming idiot kills you in its desperate attempt to scan you. Happened to me twice today in a Hazres (I was in an Imperial Fighter which has virtually zero shield and hull). :) Kinda hilarious first, but after the (n+1)th occasion it starts to get pretty annoying.

They could at least tell us why it can't be fixed right now. It does not take £100k's worth of resources for someone to type a few words into the forum news section.

Because they don't see the problem.

Hey Cmdrs,

We're currently looking into this issue but have so far been unable to reproduce this issue.

If you have any videos of this happening can you please post them in a comment here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/379726-NPCs-frequently-running-into-my-ship

Of course, it's a tad difficult to post vids where they asked for them since the thread was deleted. Head in the sand?

So, has this been bug-reported? All very well saying "someone should do something about this", but have they been asked?

I've had a couple of very close encounters with police vipers in the last 24 hours, so I can well believe there's a problem.

Yes, there's something of a minor threadnaught in PC bugs. Just a few hours ago QA-Mitch *finally* acknowledged that there is a problem, and says a fix is being worked on.

According to Mitch, 'they cannot reproduce the problem!!'

... Sad...

I've noticed that this has gone particularly bad in 2.4 since I started playing again. I'm usually several km away from the station and "speeding", yet security catches up and rams me all the time while trying to scan—ending up giving me a fine. Quite annoying.
