Old player whining

Every single time when i come back to read what is new in this game i got disappointed (except "Horizons").
Every single time i expect new content to play and there in no content only some broken functions and fixes that should have been fixed long time ago.

How other games can deliver new content every month or doing events? And this game ...
Lack of interest from their side is irresponsible. Maybe they make already huge amount of money, who knows.
You need huge amount of imagination to play this game and convince yourself "this is fun and satisfying".

Some of my observations:

First, Money hasnt real value in this game. That is first and important problem. How they balance or add something in this game when this is not fixed?
There is not balanced how much for how hard you get XYZ amount of money. Money must have some sort of ID to locate money from exploits and deleting them. Also this game exist a lot of years and there is no WIPE or ending event or something which can refresh economics and give money value back. There is no healthy money circulating, so players have already billions.

Market- only PvE market with flaws like no cargo storage, no real use of goods only "box" with price and weight (except maybe fuel), no player to player transfer, no money transfer, no auctions.
Fights- unbalacned, exploitable, NPC ships cheating, huge flaws in PvP, ignoring other players or griefing other players
Story- what story?
Events- randomly generated, combined with fights flaws and market flaws. Still boring but for some challenge and end game.
Traveling- bilions of stars but the same boring hyperspace animation, where you cant do nothing = wasted time. Traveling from point A to B for every single mechanism in game, and game doesnt even try to hide it with something fun.
Missions- OK, only interesting thing, but again chained with waste travel to collect reward (yes in future there is no bank transfer)
UI/UX- still not enough information, needed to look at external websides, ship modification still take long time to animate added guns
MMO features- only wing missions, multicrew, turn off/on beacon, chat in location/wing . But only when you are lucky and your wings are in same instance and have good connection. No global chat, no functional mechanism to log off fair-play, bugged instances, invisible players, no disadvantages to play solo/group mode. No regular weapon/armour/ship balancing.
Engineering- grind, too much enginers to level, no options to buy components only collecting, another grind. Enginnered ship is not "slightly" better, its god like new ship.

For god sake, devs wrote some statement what you are planing to do and what not, what you plan to change/fix. Not only small things but fundamentaly change current game state. Still a lot of players (maybe) think they can wait for something spectacular like working and fun spacelegs, atmosfere flights. But adding ARX in full bought game, we all know where is this going.

I agree with this specific quoted observation. I'm baffled how Community Goals, which were rarely "exciting" content to begin with, had to be completely eliminated in order to release a couple very minor bug fixes. Thargoids are on hold as well. In fact, it does feel like Frontier pushed a giant "PAUSE" button on the game.

Meanwhile, Fortnite (a FREE game) continues to provide new stories, scenarios, maps, mysteries, etc. I'm not looking for new content like more ships or even these over-hyped fleet carriers, I'm just looking for Frontier to invest some creative storytelling within the game we already have. Interstellar Initiatives (another thing that has been paused indefinitely) had the potential to be this, but the large gaps in time between individual IIs and the lackluster plot of half of them ended up being disappointing. Heck, even Galnet is out-of-business! How hard is it to write a one-page story every week that ties into some basic gameplay?

I've been enthralled with ED since getting VR, but as I originally feared, the lackluster storytelling and overall "dead" feel to the galaxy is starting to once again cause me to grow bored with the game, despite the wonderful views I see from my cockpit. Frontier just doesn't appreciate the power of a good story, which should be easy to implement using the current game mechanics. Even boring stories, which most CGs were, are better than no story at all.

So what do you want them to put there? Gameplay tips? Statistical facts? Tetris?
its not mine job to working on this game, but sure i answer your question. It come to mine brain in seconds. I didn't think more about it, so dont laught.

For example they can build minigame where you must avoid obsitcles (stars, planets) where you travel. And how good you are that much fuel it would cost. Like best evasion less fuel, dont care about minigame= more fuel. Similar hyperspace animation but with some sort of framed planets/stars which you can avoid with mouse.

:D

The day they rolled out that update would be the last day I'd play Elite.

Great. Can i quote you on that?

That's not very surprising, Fortnite has millions of players online continuously and creates an income of well over hundred million dollars in a month.

Not that the Elite story telling wasn't lackluster, but the comparison to Fortnite is patently unfair.
One does not need millions of dollars a month to create an intriguing story / mystery. I doubt it cost Epic Games millions of dollars to put a sprite of a comet in the sky (the original Fortnite mystery) and add a few telescope assets to the game.

Heck, Frontier used to do things like this, though not as well. Remember the original hyperspace interdictions? Those were kinda like the Fortnite comet. The problem with those were they were too rare (unlike the comet that every Fortnite player got to experience) and too drawn out. I would even suggest that good storytelling is the egg to Fortnite's cash chicken - it was all the hubbub about that comet that got me first playing.

Just curious, but how long do the hyperspace jumps take on your comp?
few seconds when (i think) i have good connection to server. Sometimes its even 20s with weird loading even sound get repeated. But that is not important, because you make thousands of these jumps depend how long you play and when you are explorer you see it a lot.

Yeah, Fornite is a very poor comparison. It's probably the most played online game at the moment and has estimated 250 million registered accounts. It's also a very different type of game to Elite.

Being free is also irrelevant as Fornite rakes in a fortune from microtransactions and battle passes. How do you think Epic are funding all the big timed exclusives and regular game giveaways on the Epic Store? It's like comparing FDev to EA or Blizzard Activision.

But I generally agree that ED needs better rolling content and storytelling. I stopped caring about the community goals and background stories a long, long time ago.

That's exactly what really puzzles me in your opinion. I mean, I can't think of any reason why anyone would want to play a minigame (especially as unimmersive as one described) thousands of times in 10-15 second pieces.

still better than "do nothing", and its only suggestion make in seconds, they can make it better for sure, they are paid for making game.
