Old player whining

These threads always end the same way....

I've noticed they middle largely the same way too:

OP: I have an idea that I want to see in the game
Not OP: No, I don't like that idea, I don't think the thing is fun that you think is fun
OP: You are stupid, my idea rocks and the game company is full of incompetents for not doing it yesterday

Personally, no. I do not want to see mini-games for every action I take in travel. Anything you add will be nothing but tedious by the time it is repeated hundreds or thousands of times. This is not a replacement for the lack of long-term engaging content in the game. This opinion seems to make me a masochistic 'people like them' to the OP. Fine. My opinion stands though.

Somebody Else: We had a big argument about that three or four years ago, and I was right.
Somebody Else Else: No you weren't. You were completely, stupidly wrong.
Somebody Else: Let's argue about it again!

i like how you focus on suggestion which i make and said dont laugh and its make in seconds, not hard deep focusing on how to make it yesterday and company are incompetent.

also you are wrong with your OP not OP conversation
Its usualy like this:
OP: I have an idea that I want to see in the game
Not OP: No, I don't like that idea, I don't think the thing is fun that you think is fun
OP: just think about it more or make your suggestion
Not OP: i dont care, game is good, find another game when you dont like it
Next E: D update: people like new paint so here is few more paint jobs !

Already grounded any suggestion any new think every "think different" think, so play your years old game with years old features.
That is the way !
Others: That is the way!
And then all Manadalorians disappear in their underground smelly sewers.

Me neither. In fact, I disagree with most of what the OP posts. But neither do I agree with the "white knights" (not you IIRC) and their overzealous defense of the game resulting in cries of "Crucify him!" for anyone who says anything negative about ED.

This is why I have vowed to avoid such senseless debates in 2020. As you can see, I am failing miserably at this New Year resolution, LOL.

I didn't even read the OP - I just reacted to the title. That can make for funny remarks instead of having to facepalm about silly suggestions.

Every single time when i come back to read what is new in this game i got disappointed (except "Horizons").
Every single time i expect new content to play and there in no content only some broken functions and fixes that should have been fixed long time ago.
Pay closer attention to the Announcements thread then, you may find Q2 2020 introduces something new for you, if not then potentially the 2020/2021 Premium Expansion might.

How other games can deliver new content every month or doing events? And this game ...
Lack of interest from their side is irresponsible. Maybe they make already huge amount of money, who knows.
You need huge amount of imagination to play this game and convince yourself "this is fun and satisfying".
Your problem, not ED's.

There is no healthy money circulating, so players have already billions.
Not universally true.

For god sake, devs wrote some statement what you are planing to do and what not, what you plan to change/fix. Not only small things but fundamentaly change current game state. Still a lot of players (maybe) think they can wait for something spectacular like working and fun spacelegs, atmosfere flights. But adding ARX in full bought game, we all know where is this going.
See https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forums/elite-dangerous-news/ for all updates, the adoption of ARX is an indicator of absolute nothing other than a desire to consolidate the cosmetics store for ALL platforms into the same basic format. Similar systems apply in other MMOs that are bought and paid for.

We should know more about the forthcoming Premium Expansion by E/O Q3 2020 (according to announcements to date).

there is no real suggestion, only sentense about Devs should make statement what they are planing to do and what not.
Some persons just take random post and make it bigger and complain about it to make their right.

Well, yeah, sure, but it doesn't really say anything that we didn't know already.

I'm not complaining tho, just being sarcastic about the chances of forum threads having any tangible effect to how FDev outline their grand plan.
Fair enough - at least you have a clear grasp of the boat we are all in. ;)

I know some may not like the degree of communication we get over new products/expansions in general but that is due to normal and sensible business practices. I know that some expect more but it is not realistic.

LOL... Same here.

... you, me, him, case of beer. now.

Why isn't it realistic? Other dev studios seem to have no problems remaining communicative and transparent about development to a much higher degree than Frontier does. And many years ago Frontier was a lot more communicative about development but they changed their policies right after Horizons.

What is realistic or not has no bearing. Frontier's secrecy isn't normal or abnormal, it is a choice by Frontier management.

The WHY is the real interesting question. It might be for marketing reasons, it could be due to a lack of committment for things in development. Only Frontier knows the reason. I still maintain this policy is doing more harm than good for the franchise, but that's my opinion.

FDEV is a little quiky indy shop that does a bunch of backslapping with eachother, but does not work under the same urgency as AAA counterparts. They have a steady income stream from ARX, and bamboozeled 10¢ to get a new building. Don't expect much.

My take on Elite D/H is the lack of a cohesive narrative and storyline for the game as a whole.

Does "the universe" as a whole have a "storyline"?
The story's right there, in your own head, you just have to find it.

E:D is an open world exploration game. There are several of those, and most of the time they don't have a storyline - they throw you right in the middle of it, and you have to figure out what to do all by yourself.

So, we have Gaurdians. Why?
Because otherwise the thargs would have overrun the galaxy already.

We have Thagroids. Why?
Because in an infinite universe the probability of only one single intelligent(?) lifeform is infinitely small.

We have Trade. Why?
Because thats how people 'tick' - they want wealth.

We have Combat. Why?
Because too many people are too stupid to settle differences of opinion peacefully. For proof - see real life.

We have Exploration. Why?

We have Engineering. Why?
Because it is in the human nature to try to improve one's condition. If it wasn't we wouldn't have vehicles, and would still live in caves, wrap uncured furs around our arses, and eat raw meat.

We have Powerplay. Why?
See: combat, and trade.

We have some Lore. Why?
So first you complain that there is no background, then you complain that there is?

We have Raxxla, Why?
See: Lore.

We are expecting FC's. Why?
I expect another wave of thargoids - bigger, badder, impossible to beat unless you throw whole fleets at them.
Or maybe some other visitors...

While less negative and long winded than the op, I'm also feeling a little jaded.

I find myself thinking about playing a lot but when it comes down to it, gameplay is just formula-created and pretty repetitive.

There hasn't been that much new content (admittedly they said it would be slow) but that combined with them pushing the content they /had/ committed to, to another year made it especially bad.

I'm still flabbergasted they can take the better part of a year for big fixes, but if things like multicrew work seemlessly after they are done, I'll give them a pass.

For me personally it's just a matter of what Fdev and I had in common regarding the direction ED was going.
Fdev's ideas and mine are drifting further and further apart with the result of them doing what they want to and me no longer playing their game.
No one's to blame, it's just a matter of differences.
I've had my money's worth of play time, if it stops now then that's fine.
When Fdev thinks it's the right strategy to postpone, cancel or re-prioritize stuff on and on then who am I to say it isn't, it's their game.
Just don't expect me to keep playing or recommend this game to others.

When I compare Fdev to other game devs then a lot of questions pop up as to why they fail to make it work while others, much smaller teams, do succeed.

I don't care anymore, maybe, just maybe, I'll pick ED back up again if they manage to fix exploration but even then I doubt it would take long before fatigue starts kicking in again.
After the release of Horizon they haven't realy added something truly substantial imho, I'm afraid that based on previous experiences the big 2020 update will be to little to late for me.
