Honestly I'm at a point now of not caring anymore with all the headaches this game has beat me over the head with involving dev's choices. The whole it's difficult to do this and that excuse from the devs is to a point now where I'm starting to think well maybe you need to consider paying people who can do the work needed to make things actually work. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh but I'm not happy right now.

Sorry bud but with all the problems and shortcomings the game has right now, this whole long hair thing seems pretty silly. Not sure this is the hill you want to die on.

Why are you on me about this? I want to know if there will be long hair. It's something I've been bringing up for a whole year. Just cause you don't care about it doesn't mean I have no right to voice my concerns on the matter. You say it's silly but it's not to me. I roleplay this game. I've been writing about my main character's adventure since I started playing. In my mind's eye, she and I look the same. I have long hair. Once a character creator comes into play the mind's eye version of my character fades and in her place is the game's representation of her. And if that representation no longer suits my ideal version of myself in this world then it becomes a huge issue. That might seem like nothing to you. But to me if I can't identify as the character I'm roleplaying then I can't continue. So I'm voicing that.

Wow, that's an immensely rigid point of view to play a game from. I can't even imagine that kind of restrictions on the hobby I partake in to have fun and relax. Maybe try roleplaying as someone other than yourself? A character different than you?

I doubt we'll see all of the options for it tomorrow though, they'll most likely show off some stuff but they'll want to save a lot of it as a surprise for the update.

Good luck, I'd hate to think you'd quit playing the game simply because the commander creator didn't have long hair as an option...

If this forum has taught us anything, it's that people want dramatically different things out of the game. If someone wants hair options, who's to say that's not important?

Of course that's nuts. What's really important is more interesting rocks, tectonic activity and stellar accretion disks, not avatars or crazy PvP gameplay nonsense.... :p

It's not a rigid point of view when the already written character that's based off me is suddenly not me anymore for no other reason than the game not allowing it. Also if the game wasn't built solely around the idea of this very thing of being what you wanted to be them maybe I wouldn't be so upset about a lack of hair options. I know it might seem like an incredibly vain thing to be upset about but I have been voicing this for a year now because I know that about myself. I'm skipped out on very good video games in the past due to similar reasons so I have the fear of the same thing happening here. Which would suck since I've already invested two years to this game. I know myself well enough to know I can't overlook it. It's a terrible trait I know but I can't help it and wish I could but I know I can't.

Because I dare not ask for a simple thing in a video game like hair. You know the thing that's been on the heads of female characters in ever video game ever. Why can't I voice my concerns without people jumping down my throat? It's damn hair.

Would having long hair not compromise your ability to don a helmet quickly.

I'd rather see what the creator brings before making judgement.

Is the Dev cycle consistent across all platforms or will one have to wait?

Also, about long hair- how long are we talking? I bet they'll have some that go to shoulder height, longer than that and it would start to look weird pulling g's without it moving around and when the helmet deploys and that much hair is deleted it would look amateurish, so I get that. But they'd probably have shoulder length. That's at least feasible to fly with.

Honestly, how should long hair be displayed in the game? When at any action station in zero g I'd think high and tight would be the order of the day. Buns and short ponytails would probably be the extent of long hair on the bridge. If we have character portraits, that might be an appropriate way to displays the character's preferred hairstyle.

Also, when we eventually can venture into stations that'd be a fine place to display a mane as well...but that is some time off, I think.
