On those mostly negative reviews on steam

Can’t put enough likes on this.

I get really P’d off with people commentating on Odyssey despite never playing it and basing their opinions on 2nd/3rd hand information (or often just plucked out of the sky).
What you on about? I routinely visit the forums for every single product I chose not to buy off the back of user reviews just to tell everyone that I didn't buy it (but that I'd like the product to change so I get my money's worth, obviously). It's really sensible.

Anyone who doesn't think that's sensible is a white knight fanboi.

The game concept was never particularly absorbing. They've had several chances of injecting something that's constructively pleasurable or enduringly stimulating but they have not taken those chances. Odyssey is another incarnation that will be the same old, same old.

The game is driven by punishment and endless routine at every turn. I have concluded that there is not one jot of creativity being expressed within the company.

The whole project is mired in (small c) conservatism. Broad but shallow was the early criticism, I'll expand on that: Broad with routine, structure, safety and predictability. Shallow in creativity, variety, reward and with no adventure......It's dead JIm.

It's someone's ancient golden goose. So sacred, established and previously lucrative that no one wants to take chances with it.

....I,m 64 and it takes me all week to show my wife I still love her. So, no I'm not after a quick fix either. But for many the game is like eating strawberry flavoured polystyrene, you chew, enjoy the flavour but somehow you just know there nothing of any substance within. It mysteriously fails to hit the spot.
