On those mostly negative reviews on steam

How about more recent statistic with out June 2020 Fleet Carrier release.

7 months of maintaining over 10k and all erased in 1.5 month of Odyssey release.
Aren't graphs beautiful?
First, it's the wrong graph, it shows peak players instead of average players (which would make much more sense).
Second, we are ignoring factors like lockdowns, summer, steam sales, etc.
Third, fleet carriers received just as much negativity as Odyssey, which suggests that the correlation between bad updates and concurrent players isn't as accurate as people want it to be.
Fourth, there is no way to know if Steamcharts shows a reduction of the player base or a reduction of play time per player.

In the end it's just clear that the game is in a much better state than it was in 2014, contrary to all doom sayers.

I wouldn't be surprised if the numbers go up again at some point. Actually, I very much expect it.

I am proud of you guys, finally didnt take the fdev vomit and didnt drink it with lemon on top.
I personally never bought or preordered and dont plan on doing so, only reason why I would ever get it for 1 digit price is to slap in negative review for what they are doing.
Keep going and lets get overwhelmingly negative, maybe then we will get what we paid for, not this "demo" after 3 years in development
I dont get the 'we' part. There is no 'we' between you and us. You said so yourself.

Please they are not accurate at all. We had a pandemic starting in the past year, making a lot more people play than "normal". Right now, a lot of countries start enjoying a loosening of the rules, and vaccines, allowing people to enjoy outdoors a lot more, as they used to do before the pandemic.

I am all for posting charts and trends, but be accurate people.

This is the impact on the pandemic on ED, and why you need to check pre-covid number for more accuracy.

As you can see, the part in red is much higher than what is used to be, barring expansion/big patch release. This is the Covid effect on player population.
The chart is certainly going down, but it's compounded by the summer (the biggest "dead" period for games, usually) and restrictions ease+vaccine.

Yeah - the "back to the office" crowd who can't play ED at work so they cruise the Forums posting drivel!

No it's not a Pandemic. I covered it in another topic. That spike in October/November was Free Horizon, Free game on Epic and Hype for Odyssey.
As for early 2020 that was Beta or Alpha for Fleet Carriers and the release.

The fun part about Fleet Carrier - People left Odyssey faster than they did during Fleet Carrier release.
8 weeks to reach 7k for Fleet Carrier.
6 Weeks to reach 7k for Odyssey. - and Odyssey had much more players.

Free EPIC game increasing STEAM player ? That's odd.

It is the pandemic. And a hype for odyssey didn't last for A YEAR.

Its not odd. People can link both platform. And the spike happend on the exact same day and the following when Epic gave ED for free.

First odyssey trailer came in June 2020 just before Fleet Carrier release. Yea, they knew how to pull Marketing back than, unlike today.

Almost a million views.

If you were right the same pattern should be seen with other FDev games. Though, that's not the case. Numbers for Planet Zoo are clearly up and numbers for Planet Coaster are slightly up:

Steam doesn't count non steam game in their chart. Link whatever you want it's not counted.

Don't worry @Erei, someone doesn't seem to understand the difference between correlation and causation. There is also the point that around a week before Steam put it on sale for £5*, which probably had more to do with the uptick of Steam sales than Epic sales figures.

*I remember because I brought it at full price, was cheesed that I could have got it for a fiver and then Epic announced it was free so got me an Alt.
Nuts - now why didn't I think about that!

Oh yeah - I have problems finding time to play with one account!

Steam player statistics ONLY count how many people on Steam currently have the game running. When i linked the game to Steam it counted as runing on Steam when you launch it, so it was added to the charts.
Any more theories to debunk?
