Open-Only in PP2.0?

Last word from FDev was 'we'll be monitoring,' so who knows? Maybe someone will notice the latter part of a trending thread with nearly 200 pages of passionate debate soon enough. 🤞
Indeed - maybe they will see the benefit of the "new permit locked bubble" approach that would tie in nicely with the upcoming colonisation feature and do that instead of messing up the game for those disinterested in PvP.

Thing is... they'll probably also notice that said latter part is just a three person discussion....

Since they have their own designers, they’ll likely have their solutions. If they choose to consider community input from this thread, there’s been plenty of design suggestions.
Some may align with their ideas, some might influence them, and others will likely be set aside.
Naturally, those who haven’t contributed or are light on concrete suggestions probably won’t be heard.

I guarantee you nobody from this thread will be heard, no matter how many posts they create. This thread is a dumping ground, nothing more.

If anything, those who didn't contribute will be heard as "nobody cares about OOPP apart from a select few".
It’s impossible to guarantee what will or won’t be ignored ;)
FDev has monitored similar discussions in the past, and we can’t be certain if they’ll consider any ideas shared here.
At the very least, keeping the thread active brings visibility to the topic within the community, which has its own value.

If there’s risk involved (and there is, particularly if you’re planning to sell exploration data at Jameson Memorial) the reward should be proportional, whether in credits, merits, or influence. Every player should have the choice to opt for a bonus in Open or to switch Solo/PG for more relaxed gameplay (and sell exploration data to Jameson Memorial without issues LOL).
Given that Shin Dez is PP locked selling explo data there is irrelevant in a discussion regarding PP.

It was just an example to illustrate the risk/reward weighting.
Personally, I believe data collected and sold in Open should yield more credits/influence, and if merits come into play, those should be higher as well.

So are we applying the bonus in Open to only a few systems camped by undesirables and the rest with no bonus as there is no risk?

Who knows? I know (as I knew from the page 1, and said so repeatedly), and it's "no".

Honestly, how can't you see? It's their polite way to say "nope". "Monitoring, not at launch, not in the immediate plans..." Always has been. It.Will.Not.Happen.

'200 pages of passionate debate' is tolerated only for hyping up the PP2.0, not for taking into consideration a very small Crew who persists to push their whishes on how all other players should play this game.

Though I give you one thing: it is loud. Not passionate, that's not the right word (I will not use it) but loud as hell. And it comes down to this:

It is time to end this nonsense.

Your reasoning is flawed because it assumes that risk only exists in certain systems 'camped by undesirables.' (AKA players playing within gameplay mechanics and rules) In reality, the risk of playing in Open is constant, as you could encounter potentially hostile players at any time, in any system.

The proposed system doesn’t limit the bonus to high risk systems but rather rewards completing missions in Open, regardless of location. This approach provides a consistent and balanced incentive based on the ever-present possibility of player encounters in Open.

The design should look like that:
  1. You get a mission/commodity in Open.
  2. That mission/commodity is flagged for Open Only.
  3. If you log Solo/PG anytime and that item is still present the commodity is lost and mission failed.
Done.

4. If all is done in Open get more credits/influence/merits 🎇

That’s kind of my point. IF there’s risk involved, I would like to see a bonus. But it has to be ACTUAL risk. Not hypothetical, only when the stars align risk, but actual risk. There is very little risk in Open in my experience, and most of that is self inflicted. If you’re foolish enough to fly into Jameson in a paper-thin exploration build, switch in Supercruise assist, and watch Netflix, then you get what you deserve… regardless of mode. I’d take a fast and durable courier ship into such an environment and Buckyball it to my destination myself… again regardless of mode. If I was particularly worried about players, I’d take three minutes before work to actually run mostly anecdotal gauntlet, when there’s 90% less potential opponents overall.

Because the primary pool for opposition is who’s living physically close to you, not who’s playing at the same time as you. Roughly 80% of people work first shift. I’ve tested this extensively, and while my overall sample size may be small, it’s been fairly consistent over the years: I’ll encounter about seven or eight players during prime time for every one I encounter outside that time frame, all things being equal.

If the pool was primarily who’s online at the same time as me, then I’d see roughly two the early morning, five during my normal play window which corresponds to European prime time, and three during my local prime time.

How many players choose Open is much harder to figure out, but based on what I’ve observed of CG traffic, the percenrage of Open players can be as low as 63%, and as high as 85%. I’d want to do at least two more tests, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the average is closer to 80% than it is to 70%.

The whole idea of Open Only or Weighted Open is based on the concept that, despite widespread statements to the contrary, most PowerPlayers are significantly more likely to play in Solo/PG compared to the general player base. If that is the case, then the results are not going to be my idea of fun… especially if I thought it was worth my while to initiate PvP.

YMMV

This is just your opinion, and I doubt you're in a position to speak for others.

Your assumption here is, if not entirely false, based on non-existent data.

In the meantime, some of us have been proposing design solutions and constructive suggestions instead of just repeating 'no, no, no. no it won't happen. no no no. I play as I like no no no '" <3

Nope we are pledged to an entity created by Fdev, Antal isnt a player and im not part of a player group.

O7
This is at best, misunderstanding and at worst, a deliberate obfuscation.

The system of powerplay is designed in such a way that if you're pledged to Antal, you're working with other players who are also pledged to Antal to improve your shared faction (Antal)'s standing against the other factions in exchange for rewards both at the factional and individual level.
