T-1600m is left handed if you want it to be.

There's even a switch on the bottom to switch between LH and RH modes. :)
LOVE the avatar BTW and thanks for the info :). The T 16000 is an option I've considered many times in the past. The hall sensors they use in those are really nice. But the sticks are still ambidextrous. Thrustmaster doesn't currently manufacture a true left handed joystick controller. I was really hoping they would have released an optional right handed throttle control, when they began making the T-16000 HOTAS units. Wish in one hand...so to speak.

I've always seemed to want the things that didn't exist anyway. In response, I've had to adapt or build many of the things I do have. I do feel a bit proud of myself in a fight against commander and npc alike. Win or lose, I do so on a PC that I built, using a controller that I adapted, and a gaming mouse that I've "frankensteined" twice now. But, if I have to build my own VR headset out of 3D glasses, I'm pretty well screwed :D.

Try sending VKB an email. They might entertain building you a bespoke left-handed version of one of the Gladiators or Gunfighters. It won't be cheap, but their products are out of this world for build quality and general all-round awesomeness.

I probably should have called you out back when you started throwing the word "idiots" and a few other choice pejoratives around, but since you've also gotten around to using "PvP kiddies" as well I think I'll step in now and fill you in on one of the finer (yet widely accepted) points of forum discourse: when you start calling people whom you don't agree with names in order to make your argument...you've lost.

https://laurencetennant.com/bonds/adhominem.html

Put briefly, ad hominem is "You are an ignorant person, therefore your arguments are wrong", and not "Your arguments are wrong, therefore you are an ignorant person." The latter statement may be fallacious, but it's not an ad hominem fallacy.

A: "All rodents are mammals, but a weasel isn't a rodent, so it can't be a mammal."
B: "This does not logically follow. And you're an <censored>."

Nah. They're good.

You may find a 3DConnexion SpacePilot suitable, it is not cheap (~100 UKP) but it offers 2 buttons and 6 Analogue axis (Symmetrical design so good for both LH and RH users). I gather some people have been able to get it to work in ED but I have not had much luck myself on that score (yet!). Assuming you can get it to work you may find it very effective in the long run... but it is a bit of a knack to get used to (used them at work for browsing 3D environments).

I'm looking into both of these. I already sent VKB a message. That 3D mouse...WOW! I took AutoCAD and Inventor about 9 years ago. Sure wish I'd had something like that mouse back then. Awesome info and thank you both!
Virtual +++Rep, because I already repped you both earlier.

If VKB give you the no bueno, I'll more than likely be getting myself a Gunfighter 2 from them later in the year when they release.

Which means I'll have a T.1600m sat around doing nothing. If the GF2 is as bloody brilliant as everything else VKB does, I have no issues sending you the T.1600 stick so you can at least try it without splashing out the money for one. :)

Virpil is supposed to be coming out "soon" with a higher end ambi joystick that will include twist:

https://virpil.com/en/shop/grips/vpc-constellation-delta-vpc#vina-tab

They also have left handed options, but currently don't have desktop versions, have to use a sim style mount and no twist:

https://virpil.com/en/shop/grips/vpc-mongoost-50-lh-grip-vpc#vina-tab

The desktop version base is also "soon":

https://virpil.com/en/shop/sticks/vpc-warbrd-vpc#vina-tab

or you could put it on a warthog base.

Alas, none of it is cheap.

Make sure that your Gunfighter cuts the mustard and has no defects for a little while first. In case it doesn't go well, it would be nice for you to have a back up on hand. But after all that, I certainly wouldn't turn down a chance to try a T 16000. When I see you in game, I'll send a request. :D

Yeah, even the cheap controllers aren't cheap, whew. Those are some nice pieces of hardware too. Looks like I'd need some sensors for them, if not flexible contact switches and /or pots. Good stuff.

Thanks to all for the info.

To the OP, Mods and everyone else, sorry for getting off topic. Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

I had a cyborg stick 2 joysticks ago that had a handrest you could easily switch from left to right, and more importantly for me you could adjust it up and down. My Hotas is a little cramped for my massive ogre hands. It had very good button options and you could adjust the angle of the buttony bit for thumb comfort, on the negative side things fell off it a lot.

The outcome is the same regardless no? I tried sending messages as I killed people for a test to see if the opinion of those killed change... safe to to say it made them even more angry than sending nothing.

Those people suck though. Don't stop trying.

I actually appreciated that you used some Imperial RP messages in your Salomé kill.

They don't suck though, the only suck because they believe they do, 9 time out of 10 when people come to me to practice PVP they are most of the way there... the biggest hurdle is accepting that you ARE about to fight another player, this isn't some NPC that will randomly stop firing and show its belly, this is a player that WANTS to kill you and is trying.

I also recently tried do the whole RP thing, I even carry a K warrant scanner just for the extra RP but I got what I normally get... silence or pure hate my favorite from this session was translated as follows "I hope your ******* mother gets canser and dies!".

I agree with that. Should we go back through the thread & pick them all out? Or only the ones from posters that disagree with you?
The PvPers lost that one YEARS ago with the snowflake, space-trucker, and other derogatory euphemisms and memes.

As for the "idiots" comment earlier, that is more the words of the person I have referred to than mine (I have toned down their particular choice of words though) and is not targeted at anyone specifically. Generally speaking I agree with their assessment though wrt certain types of PvPer.

If you value people being nice to you in-game so highly you could always try not blowing them up, just a suggestion.

I've always advocated for the forced in-RP engagement rules - because it works both ways:
- it doesn't allow anyone to kill anyone without actual reason and a warning;
- it also clearly indicates that you WILL be engaged so no matter how much you do or don't like it, you sign yourself for it;
- these in-RP rules also mean that not every engagement must end in death, as usually someone's agenda can be satisfied by other means (dropped cargo, revealed information etc.).

There should be no other modes but Open for this to work (technical and design problems aside). We should all be in the same open world, with strictly regulated and checked-upon engagement rules.

And it's fun! I've been playing Disco Freelancer for years and despite always avoiding PvP in other games, I actually enjoyed Disco's player interactions.
I'm bad at PvP and more often than not, I got my thrusters handed to me but it was FUN because I knew the guy at the providing end of the lazor is not just trying to make my life miserable, but he's RPing a pirate. There's a logical, in-RP justification for his actions. Tomorrow, he'll switch characters and we'll be both patrolling as police officers - and we'll still have fun doing so.
There was a clear distinction between in-RP behavior still governed by rules, and a real player that could've had chars from both sides of the coin (bad or good) and we all knew it thanks to clearly defined rules and community strictly following them. Actual griefers / deliberate rule breakers were dealt with quickly and harshly and there was no ill intention of screwing someone's fun. Not in the long run - just until Admin's swift hand of justice punished the offender, with the most notorious ending up being banned.

This, in turn, created a community that had fun together and enjoyed interacting with each other, greatly enriching the experience.

ED chose the anarchy way of doing things and results can be seen since day one - if this thread, and the ongoing battle between carebears and griefers (simplification intentional) doesn't prove it, then I don't know what does.

I'll be honest: the complete lack of any rules, in the ill-conceived spirit of "playing your own way", was the biggest disappointment when the game launched, at least to me personally.
I was hoping for just as refined RP experience as with Disco Freelancer, but Frontier chose otherwise.
Was it good or bad, doesn't matter as it's all subjective. But the creation of Mobius clearly shows what some players think about complete lack of rules governing player interactions.

TL;DR: You can't put players in a game with no rules whatsoever, and expect it to somehow pan out, which this thread (and many others) confirm.

I am sorry to hear that some people take this game too seriously for their own good.

I'll admit I was miffed when I was once gunned down in five seconds by a commander whose ship was vastly superior to my own, but I laughed it off afterwards.

At this point I feel you might just be trolling... this "apex predator" you talk about sounds more and more like an idea you use to help make you feel safe from the bad men on the forums.

This is what an Apex Predator looks like...

This does not prove a thing Harry and it has nothing to do with you. I've seen some of your videos. You seem to have ok aim and excellent situational awareness and tactical abilities.

All in all a good package for a combat player.

The problem is that in ED, anyone with can get a kill count like this. Even a k/d ratio would be meaningless to display player quality.

When I say anyone can do this, I mean anyone.

Just build a ship that has the strength to survive 15 seconds of heavy attacks and off you go. Kill those that can't harm you and log on any potential risk.

ED does not have the game mechanics for competitive PvP. Players have to apply a certain element of RP to make it work. Some kind of 'code of conduct' is necessary.

Being an 'Apex predator' is a 'title' that is given within social ramifications of a group. It takes more that a kill count.

It's about as meaningful as overlord of eravate :D

I love the avatar, too, but I couldn't figure out how to get that out there without sounding like a perv.

Hm...wishing now that I had taken the step to upload an avatar of myself posing in a classic black and red getup...

Don't tell him how to play his game!!1! ;)
