ha - ok now I've essentially posted the same thing twice in this one thread.
Déjà vu baby..
First of all because FD will loose a lot more, than 7000 mythical players. Because the core element of gameplay - piracy - will be gone. People doesn't want fair duels, it's bull. People want to kill innocent people, people want to rob innocent traders.
If no Open-PvE mode is offered then the c.7,000 players will probably continue to increase.... Piracy still exists, even with no player traders in open - it's just that some pirates demand "live" prey and don't want to attack NPCs. While some people want to kill innocent people, there is no requirement for innocent people to offer themselves up as prey (unless they want to, of course).
I doubt that there are pirates who would love to rob NPC's instead of actual people. Never heard of them.Piracy still exists, even with no player traders in open - it's just that some pirates demand "live" prey and don't want to attack NPCs.
Actually there is. There is SOLO mode, where a pray can play safely, but only with NPC's - and that's a fair trade for safety. I see no reason to give them PVE Mode, Magic Unicorn Mode or anything else. If you don't like the game - don't play it.While some people want to kill innocent people, there is no requirement for innocent people to offer themselves up as prey
Why did they buy this game then ? I don't want to be killed at my back on BF4, should i ask EA for PVE Mode ?Very succinctly said, I think. People don't want to be made prey for others.

What did you see? Was it the same cat?...

nooooooooooooooooooooooo
NO "open" PvE mode. Elite with training wheels.
NOOOOOOOOOOO
Well, i can partly agree, but... Sorry for my example. Do you know why virtual sex exists, when internet is full of free ? Cos people want to interact with actual people, not NPC.Yes. A mass migration to Open PvE poses new problems for piracy as piracy is implemented now. However, a mass migration to Open PvE would also speak volumes to the *existing* problems with piracy as it is implemented now. I.e., there isn't much to incentivize a whole section of the ecosystem (explores and traders) to want to play in that environment, and other modes of play exist and are listed on that main screen. Open PvE just unites people who already abandoned that world.
In any case, I think FD should make piracy on NPCs much richer, and it would benefit all present and hypothetical modes of play. Let's have richer interactions with NPCs.

Today 99% of pirates do what they do just cos it's FUN. Robbing NPC is not fun and never become as fun as robbing a real person. The same goes for killing.

Giving a group of people what they want just because they organized a group - is a very, VERY BAD IDEA. And there are lot's of examples in real life.
Nothing odd. People, who avoid Open are loosing ALL player interaction right now, and not everyone want to loose that much. That's why there are still players in Open. This is an odd point of view. If people are already avoiding Open, and aren't impacting your play, why go out of your way to interfere and argue to keep their lives desolate and unfulfilling? It sounds sadistic....
I think that you missed my inference - if players are not prepared to offer themselves up then they may play in Solo but more probably in a Private Group as they become aware of the
existence of the more sociable half-way house between Open and Solo.
While you may not accept that other players preferred play-style is as valid as any other, others feel differently - the c.7,000 in Mobius tend to suggest that there is a demand for a new mode.
This is not about not liking the game, it is more about not liking the way that some players choose to play the game and wanting to play separately from those players but with other likeminded players.

With different modes, the interaction and meaning of players effforts in game suffers. If only it was separate universes, but alas.
We saw the first major issues during the lugh conflict.
What's the difference, from the point of view of a player in open, between a player playing in Solo, Private group or a potential Open-PvE mode?
