Operation Enigma, breaking the code!

Again, I chose Dawn, he chose Grace. And you know what, it was pretty unfair for me since it was about 10v1.

I almost cried, there. That nuisance party of yours is swarming CZs for the actual community goals, playing for Dawn, and automatically ganging up against the poor guy who dare choosing the other side. Last time I tried for the sake of (and I use the term very loosely here) fun, I knew I'd be destroyed in a minute* but yet your folks managed to best my expectations: as soon as I arrived, I was told to pick Dawn or die, with the mandatory "you have 5 seconds" crap. And it's Open, not a private group with specific rules. Which pretty much makes the game unplayable since a "no" means the whole party to turn against your unique ship.

*I'm exagerating, here. More than three, actually. Since I was in a Viper and was plummeled by 2 FDLs and 2 Pythons, it gives a pretty good idea of what your lazy mob tactics made of your actual skills as pilots. But hey :p

Hi Mobius.

All this code/mobius rubbish aside.

Just want to say thanks for all the great work.

You've essentially added something to the game that Frontier should have added and I believe you manage the whole of the Mobius group on your own, literally as a service to players who want to avoid the whole PvP thing.

I just think that's not always appreciated.

Cheers.

I didn't make the rules for your group - you did. Why don't you go back now and retroactively change them to completely eliminate PvP in any form then?

Here, let me refresh your memory...

I knew exactly what I was getting into - perhaps you might remind some of your members of the same and point them to your own policy?
Otherwise please refrain from coming in here and accusing me of "bending" your rules. I did no such thing. I abided completely and fully with your policy.

You appear to have missed one little part:

The group motto translates to "to each their own". So the number one and most important rule is:[/LEFT]

  • [*=left]Don't spoil another players game!

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=38362&p=720352&viewfull=1#post720352

Any way thanks for helping me make my mind up to continue with my little crusade.

Hang on, I have an idea, didn't Code demand 500 million CR to leave the Hutton CG in peace for a week, Mmmm how much is a minor faction worth, how many weeks protection money could...... no scratch that, if you saw some of the PM's I received, well lets just say I didn't realise how much some people dislike code, and its not just a few!.

ETA

[*=left]And finally again, the rules are here to clarify some details, not to complicate the game! We want to play together and have fun. That is the purpose of this game and the group.
"To each their own". "Do not spoil another players game".

Sorry was on a short lunch and in a rush, you will note they are the only two parts of the post in a different colour, its almost like they were intended to stand out from the rest for some reason, Mmmm now why might that be.....

<snip> Within the context of this thread, Dave1235's suggestion basically relies on CMDRs undertaking missions for any and all factions other than the Code's minor faction in their home system, effectively raising the other factions' influence and thereby reducing the Code's. This sort of pseudo-guerilla warfare can be just as effectively achieved in Open, Group or Solo modes with little or no chance of opposition other than Code going out of their way to do every single mission they can find posted to the bulletin boards in support of their own minor faction.

(Just as an aside, I may be wrong but if IIRC then accepting a mission and then abandoning it uncompleted also reduces the minor faction's influence - I'm not in game right now so can't check - if anyone else is willing and able to check this then clarification would be appreciated).

Thank you, I believe you are correct that taking a mission and abandoning it reduces influence, that will certainly make it even easier if it stays the same.

It's delicious - forcing a PVP group so that they are performing PVE missions in order for their group to maintain at least some form of influence.

Okay, before things get out of hand here, a few things to clarify.

FD already looked at the "picking up mission and abandoning mission to reduce a faction's influence" mechanic in very early stage of PowerPlay with Mercs of Mikun, FD has shown interest in effectively reversing the effect of said mechanic if reported. I'm sure they either patched or are working on patching the mechanic in some way or another.

Another point, I'm reminding all Code members replying in here to respect Mobius'(as a person) decision on who to remove and who not to remove. It is his mode, in the end, he gets to decide who he wants out of his group and who he wants in. If he wants every Code member out of Mobius, he has every right to do so and is not obligated to justify it to anyone. Just as we are not obligated to justify removing any members from our ranks to the public. You are free to question his decision, but do so with respect.

Also a note to Mobius, the majority of our members do not have anything against Mobius as a group, please avoid generalization.

The ethos of Mobius and CODE are diametrically opposed to each other, so there will never be consensus. Or, as Kipling said in Barrack-room ballads, 1892; "Oh, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet."

Lets all agree to differ and just, "get on with it."

It would be nice... if one group left the other completely alone. Fang has made a statement, lets see if CODE follows it. If they do.. we can all be happy, if they don't we are back to square one..

I agree, FD are evil geniuses, its almost like they had a plan from the start :p, just one that we just can't quite work out yet.

I read it as a step towards "rare and meaningful" personally, I mean really, giving a way to keep the groups so busy they don't really have time to fight each other, making it equal in all modes, I think Roybe might be right in some of his thoughts.

Now is there any backing for me to petition for some new skins, I was thinking for the Lakon series, maybe in UPS brown with pirate logos and a bumper sticker that says "we go that extra LY for you, Yaarrr!!1!!1!", they might well be popular in the near future ;):p:D.

Need DB Scout and Explorer Skins. And Bright Color skins..

I want a Type 7 skin that looks like this on the side, and on the back a bumper sticker that says "Gliese Bound and Down":

I keep trying to tell folks! MoM™ is the leader of all the minions...and her heart has nothing but love and adoration for her charges....which in turn means more evil for us to deal with.

Michael and Zac....oh, they want groups to be supported in the game...so we can find new and inventive ways to fight and kill each other. Both of them sit there, quietly stirring their little cauldrons...watching the galaxy simmer and boil...gleefully rubbing their hands as their faces glow in the ruddy light, as the heat and moisture rising from the black, steaming contents within condenses in wisps around them.

All while Mr. Braben chuckles to himself...selling his 'humanitarian' wares of inexpensive computers for children to learn to code on...so they can grow up and become dark hearted monsters...like all the devs working at Frontier...Mr. Braben, if nothing else takes a long view on his plans...and has time on his side.

Oh...sorry...not those thoughts? Well I am sure I have other good ones thrown on these forums dealing with this problem! (I think the PVP in CQC/PVE in Open MIGHT have been a little over the top...however, there are converts...so the idea still lives on!

Thanks for the nod! o7

On the first page, I was just disappointed in what this is all about.
Now I am angry with this.

Whether you're a good guy or a pirate, from MOBIUS or the CODE....
Cheating the player is tolerable, cheating the game is intolerable.
Creating your crusade against the CODE is fine and all... if you thought they were just simply being pirates.
In my perspective, you seem to think they're not just being pirates, you think they're absolutely disrespectful to everything and everyone.
You have no idea how infuriatingly trivial this is to the CODE. I just talked with them since last week, they're absolutely friendly and nice! And this is before I even found out the CODE has this undeserving, poor reputation.
They're intolerably annoyed by whiny, immature, and disrespectful people that treat this game like it's their life and purpose.
You people snark and trash talk the CODE. And it's not because they're simply pirates, you do it because they're being "disrespectful" or "extremely unfair"! Do you see how stupid it is to say to this unique band of pirates, who are friendly and nice, that just kill or loot because they're badass pirates, and nothing more?
If you have so much personal problems dealing with player pirates or smugglers, you just need to stick to single-player. Online gameplay is not for you if you can't tolerate the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of players.
So all of you quit your self-righteous blather about what's right and wrong based on the game rules and ethics. AND STOP MAKING FUN OF PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY THE TRASH TALK!
WE'RE ALL SUPPOSED TO KNOW THE RULES!
THE PROBLEM IS YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO KNOW HOW THE GAME WORKS!
SO, IF IT DOESN'T WORK FOR YOU, YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE USED IT AND SHOULD HAVE SEEN IT COMING!
BECAUSE IT'S YOUR FAULT FOR BEING A WEAK PLAYER WITH NO AWARENESS FOR THE VIRTUAL REALITY OF THE GAME!
GROW! UP!

Okay, before things get out of hand here, a few things to clarify.

Ooops too late.........

Fantastic news, lets test the background sim and see if has been patched (if not game breaking it might get looked at in 6-12 months, if it is indeed a problem at all), lets find out :D. Even if they have "fixed that" there will be all the other minor factions there to support at the codes minor faction stations (I doubt they will patch that part :p). The more people involved the quicker we will find out, you should be honoured to be a part of this test for the greater good of the game. Lets look at it as post launch testing* of how quickly you can find a group and put them into a state of war or defend against one. I am sure FD would be glad of the data.

I remember one of your guys posting in Zac's thread asking for groups to contact him (I remember you did not disclose group size, Mmm I must remember that, I still have a bit to learn ;)), but I would be shocked if you said no to a home station, lets call it the code aura that I feel.

Another point, I'm reminding all Code members replying in here to respect Mobius'(as a person) decision on who to remove and who not to remove. Also a note to Mobius, the majority of our members do not have anything against Mobius as a group, please avoid generalization.

So what's the issue with the minority? genuinely interested to know why they are so upset some people don't want to play with them. I honestly can't get my head around that and did you not mean that you don't need justify why you don't remove your members rather than why you do, to the public? I think you made a typo there ;)

*

Oh dear, how I have shown my ignorance of PP and minor factions (and a few other things that I did not care about much a week or two ago, I spent a few hours in PP at most, months ago).

oh dear, Oh dear, OH dear, OH Dear, MY SHAME, ohhh my shame. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=183535

You are already there in Beta, (wo)man the battle stations, red alert! (obviously that link is not to the code minor factionp, but they have a group, I bet you do!11!!1 roxxor!1!!1).

"Cry 'Havoc!', and let slip the dogs of war".

Mmmm the decisions, I don't envy you, obviously I have to go to Lave cluster in Beta, I really doubt FD would hand over Lave (there would have been a forum riot by now).

Perhaps a Mod could give an opinion, is offering a reward (both here and in the Beta threads) to find a faction naming and shaming? its a group not a person, actually its not, its a minor faction not really a group per se, I think I have made it clear its the minor faction I wish to work against, not the players, my OP says in solo or groups, not in open.

Hi ho ho its off to beta we go, with a bucket and spade and a minor faction grenade, hi ho, hi ho, hi ho, hi ho.

Its a great game, I just wish they could have got more of the consequences for crime in at launch, I can't find it now but the thread started by the Dev Sandro relating to crime had so many good ideas what might have avoided this situation, I guess they will get to it. I mean really in the original elite Anarchy's were very bad places, Cooperate states were safe, you knew your risk, I guess we will get it when we get it, I am in for the long haul.

1. When a group gets a reputation and people from the group proves the reputation time and time again, whether their actions are sanctioned or not, they may want to look at the REASONS why they have this reputation. You say it is an undeserved reputation, yet the actions of their own members keep pointing towards it being deserved.

2. There is a huge difference in tolerance and allowing abusive behavior to continue. And I think it is hilarious that you "condemn" trash talk, yet you blatantly ignore it when it is from the side you agree with and engage in it yourself.

3. There is a huge difference in knowing the rules and looking for ways to skirt the rules yet still be "within" them.

4. The only "Weak" players are those who believe others are weak and need to grow up, for it shows you've a lot of growing to do as well. For many of us this ain't our first rodeo kid.

ROFL PMSL, you are lucky I avoided a "nose cannon" or I would not be so kind, and I think you are a spy trying to keep me from my Beta goal! :p:)

MOM where are you!!!

I think we will have to check google earth about the claims of cauldrons, the UK health and safety people would not allow a naked flame in an office building, I will be zooming in on Cambridge later ;)

Now Mr Braben chuckling, lol I bet he is, he knows the road map and the path to "rare and meaningful", they are watching the children stumbling in the dark at the party wearing blindfolds whilst they hope we like the present when we open it.

When Mom gets the kids in order FD might scale the danger in relation to the security, until Mom's ready it won't happen.

The nod is well deserved o7, I don't agree with everything you say, but on that point you are the best reference IMO and why I referred to you by name.

Thanks for the grin MR 5th columnist, you just wiped out my Beta recon for tonight, Mmm lets see how far I am before I give up for the night :D
