Opinion: 10 LY range for colonization is ridiculously low.

Although I enjoy seeing the new creative ways people come up with to force people into Open I find their insistence a little irritating.

I like playing in Open, and would have preferred an Open only game at launch. - well I wanted a solo game I could have played at sea back then - But we have different play modes (I use all three) and they’re all valid.

Trying to force people into Open only makes them more resistant because it looks like you (Open-only advocates) are only after more players to kill.

Yeah.... and still Open causes more problems with stability (and you can't even make high res screenshot).
I see community goals with 30 minutes queue to the pads :D or relogs for find better instance....

It could be nice Open with better crime&punishment system, stability, and more ccop / roleplay focused players. But we have different topic for that.

So, back on track.

I think about permits itself and it may be problematic, becuase it is easy way to block some direction of colonisation with 10 Ly range.

And this all illustrates exactly why colonization needs to be directing resources to make a populated system exist where you want it, but it becomes any other system after base placement. If you need a story reason, you can't take over control of system access because the major powers have a navy, and you don't. BGS factions can move into your new system, because you still don't have a navy. Heck, make colony ships "leases" from the Pilot's Federation rather than purchases.
