Original alpha/beta backer returning to play - your top 10 tips

There have been some very tasty ships introduced which are worth playing with:

Type 9 - has been around a long time, but received a lot of love with extra capacity in the hold.

Type 10 - flies like a Type 9, but the extra spoiler on the back makes all the difference (I jest), but can be tanked up and equipped to fight anything, so long as you take a SLF along too, because it has a slow turn rate. It runs cool during refueling so makes a worthwhile explorer, if you like the feel of a big ship.

Krait Mk II and Krait Phantom - well worth playing with. Medium ships that can do just about anything, somewhat replacing the Python which had a number of "balance passes" since you left the game to render it disappointing at times. All these ships can land on Medium Pads, which gives them the ability to land at Outposts. Phantom supersedes the AspX for exploration.

Challenger, Chieftain, Crusader - a series of Alliance ships worth checking out. They pack a punch and can be well armed and armoured.

Mamba - a fast alternative to the Feu De Lance

Fish - Dolphin runs incredibly cool, said to be fun for "sneaky" missions and play styles, Orca is its bigger brother and can handle most things. Beluga bigger still with fins that get caught in the toast rack if you aren't careful.

Cobra MkIV .... a bigger version of the Mk III ... actually handy for mining because it has so many internal slots. As a backer you will have access to this ship. About half the players complain about the ship, the other half complain they don't have access to it 🤭

Which brings me to ..... you will notice you have a couple of small slots added in all ships. These allow you to fit a docking computer (yes, always around but greatly improved) and an advanced DC that takes off also. (Handy in the big ships or if you are tired of the usual landing/take off sequences and like automation for a change). Then there's the Cruise Control Module, separate from the docking computers, that takes control of supercruise and automatically jumps you out at the location without damage (mostly).

The Discovery Scanner - has to be set up in the control bindings (0hhhh ! no-one mentioned the nightmare of control bindings for everything ....and there's a new external camera !) This earns you credits for discovering stuff ... the old Advanced Discovery Scanner has gone ! If in the Bubble, you can jump out of supercruise at the Nav Beacon, scan it to receive all info about the system as an alternative to carrying the Discovery Scanner.

Good luck, Commander ..... engineer your ships to max jump range on the FSD, add that Guardian booster for an extra 10 lyrs range on most of your ships and ..... the Galaxy is yours .... o7 and welcome back :)

Just play the game mate. Find your own way.

Don’t miss out on the game by trying to rush your way to an end game that doesn’t even exist, only to find out the game has been there all along.

Pay attention. Keep your eyes and ears open.

And bear in mind that there’s a galactic population of 7 Trillion, and 10s of Thousands (to Millions) of cmdrs, when considering how galactic society operates and how you and your actions fit in with it.
