Panther Clipper Concept, i love it

It looks like this, but flying and with a spoiler:

It would be great if it wasn't just another ship but a mini carrier.
Something that had a couple of pads to allow the shuttling of stuff to the station.

It'd be cool if it had a huge hardpoint that is the only ship in the game that can mount class 4 turrets. Still not useful in a fight, but can serve as a floating gun emplacement if necessary.

Lol i had one of those back in the day.

But seriously i would kill for a mining Panther Clipper traveling the systems just munching rocks.
Shove a raider kit on it and the LEO covas (for obvious reasons) for that smeg head feel.

Why does it have to dock like a normal ship and enter the slot? why can't fdev design a large ship that players can fly around in but to dock you exit the ship in a docked ship (shuttle ship or some other small docked ship already in the game) and land on stations and such with that. Have it not able to go down to planets directly.

The panther was supposed to be big. In the game, it would have been nice to have something between a current player ship and a carrier. Something not persistent that players could pilot, be damaged, even fight in. Something with a role that is significantly different from just yet another large hauling ship.

when switching ships to a docked ship on the panther, the panther could be piloted by your npc crew and maintain position or enter supercruise (leave instance). It just makes so much less sense as a useful addition to the game by just being yet another large ship.

side note: These 3d models aren't on thingiverse to turn into 3d prints. (no carriers, new panther, or stations). This is quite sad.

@Fdev: Release the 3d models so we dont have to rely on people willing to data mine and hack the client to pull them out.

Bruh are you seriously asking a game dev to just hand over assets like that?

LOL

It does not work like that.

That's very similar to how fleet carriers already work.

Looks cool to me! But I really have to point out one thing...
It looks like a flying brick. The tiny wing at the back isn't going to help at one bit. Should replace it with something else cooler other than a wing...

I generally dislike putting spoilers on my ships, since they're useless in a vacuum.

yes it does. by not legally going after anyone doing it themselves, they're already doing that. control over digital assets is in how they can be used, not in possession. They are pretty clearly ok with people using the assets for personal use (not in games or for profit). Making their fans not have to jump thru potentially eula breaking hoops to get them would be a good thing. It would also mean those assets wouldn't be in the hands of only those few who do.

except entirely different.

You aren't piloting a fleet carrier. You have no direct control.

It was originally intended that players would be able to dock in-game ships such as the sidewinder and eagle into some larger ships (such as the anaconda and type9) and exit in them. Not the holo-remote piloting nonsense that we got with SLF's.

A mid step between carrier and large ship that a player could pilot and use in-game like any other ship except not be able to dock directly or get close to a planet surface (no landing pkg) would create new gameplay and be a new role. It would be a worthwhile addition.

A larger type 9/10 ship is lazy and entirely redundant. More ships are great and all, but it would hardly be worth the wait and buildup and lore of the panther.

No, whats rustling my jimmies is Zorgon cues that run through the family are forgotten here.

What concerns me is if the FD crayon masters think we don't care about such consistency and produce ships that lack these touches.
Have you considered that there might be some retconning done here?

I will assume that the video author found the model somewhere, does what he found explicitly name Zorgon Peterson, or is it just an assumption in the video based on past discussions?

Heck if we really need a lore-reason, just say the ship got bought out by Lakon.

Job done.
