I do not think that the Mk IV will be just an imitation of the Mk III. Frontier knows that the expectations are high for the Mk IV, since a long time

Yes this.
It is specific to veteran players ....the newbie's of the future won't even be able to buy the thing apparently.
(which doesn't seem fair but that's a different thread....)

Vast majority of veterans have singificantly upgraded their ship(s) at this stage ...be it to Asp or Anaconda....
If the mk.4 isn't worthwhile it'll be used once and immediately forgotten by everyone.

Yes the Mk IV has the heavy task of succeeding the Mk III. It will certainly have of the difficulty to dethrone the Mk III. Because the Mk III is in the hearts of veterans. In all cases, the Mk III will remain a cult ship, as the Elite series

That's kind of the point. For many, the Cobra will be the first ship they upgrade to from the Sidewinder. You're supposed to grow past it, though it can still have some uses after you've moved on to more expensive ships; it's great for smuggling, and given it's price it can be a good choice for some riskier professions, such as piracy - low rebuy costs and ability to outfit it to do what you want help with that. What it should never be is something that's so good you never move to other ships, though. For what it does, it's price is already a steal, imo. Quite curious to see how the Mk.IV compares, given that it's an exclusive ship not available to all.. that does limit it's options a bit.

If I were you I'd keep calm guys ^^ You know for some people, some 1960 cars are mythic and they would sacrifice a lot for their precious, for others, those cars are just trash bins on wheels compared to modern models. What kind of "Mythic ship" will Frontier give us is still a mystery for now and I guess we should not expect too much (even if I hope I'm wrong ^^).

Btw does anyone knows how (not when) the start of the beta will be announced ? Cause I just don't want to miss a single day knowing how much it costs, and the hollydays are over pretty soon now ^^

All we know is that the beta is likely to be late Nov or early December, they said holidays 2015, which they've defined as thanksgiving to Christmas. If you imagine they may look to release Horizons on the anniversary of Elite Dangerous 14/12 then depending on how long a beta they need, the gamma for the main release was the 22/11 if I recall. Just some ideas IMO :)
Playing the game at the moment is so dull knowing the Cobra Mk IV and horizons is still a few months away!q
