Peops who log off during a dual!!

As a totally non pirate I also totally support OP, yes you heard me!

If you are logging out because you don't want to die you need to go play solo and leave online mode for players who will take the challenge, that's what the seperate modes are for. And of course FD should make a logout delay (in space), sure you can leave when flying out in space, but your ship remains in space for another what, 20 seconds is fair for both parties? Pirates deserve a chance to finish the kill. ED must be for all and not just for one type of player, that would be very very boring.

btw, I really hate you bloody pirates! But a point has to be made about game shortcomings like the logout escape. :)

They need a slap full stop, happened a few times now!! I like a bit of piracy you know blow peops up steal there cargo.

But hey guess what when you nearly destroy them they log off!!!

Open play is flawed this needs fixing like many others things.

Bosh
I would guess why this issue wasn't given any priority, is the people who would combat log, would probably be playing Solo and not Open anyway. Like why would a trader in his type-7 bother with Open mode if he is going unplug his router when a CMDR is about to kill him? I think they would rather stay on the safe side than risk too many people dying from an ISP hiccup, and let combat logging exist.

easy kills passig u by, eve online is thatta way, if ppl want to fight u they will, if they want to logoff they will its a game mechanic , adapt or stop playing
It's called exploiting. Maybe it's you who should adapt by turning on your brain. How can anyone "adapt" to people exploiting killing the game client to avoid loss is beyond me. These people should be in solo. Last time I checked the subtitle of this game was Dangerous. Maybe it's just a false advertisement?

Yeah thats why I play it DANGEROUS!

The grammar bit is, yes. :D But my other point isn't. You attacked someone without prior contact and agreement - it's not a "duel" by any stretch.

I admit my spelling is bad but we don't study much reading or writing at pirate college yahhhhhh

Is it not enough that you have beaten them?

That's not really relevant to the point at hand, which is: logging off to avoid the consequences of your bad choices is an exploit which should be dealt with.

The current 15 seconds timer should be removed, letting you leave the game whenever you want, but your ship should stay in space (and you should be locked out of joining another game) for 15 seconds if it isn't being shot at, up to a minute if it is.
I'm not sure how feasible that would be considering the heavily P2P nature of the game.

I honestly don't know why there is a discussion over this - disconnecting from the combat should have very negative consequences like 40 - 60 sec log off timer or something. Are we tryng to be MMO or not?

Hah, yesterday I interdicted this commander in a Hauler, demanded that he'd dropped crago or that i would end him. He didn't want to drop cargo so i killed him. I get into super cruise and there he is again, in a hauler, I repeat the process, and kill him again. Enter super cruise for the second time, and I see the same dude, in a hauler... Guy disconnected three times, I interdicted and killed him three times. He probably switched to solo play after that. Hah, what a jerk. I must of rustled his jimmies good.

Even the MMO argument is unnecessary, as I mentioned earlier, this works against NPCs/stations as well. I've avoided fines from local security for carrying illegal/stolen goods (mostly stolen) by logging off as soon as they start to scan me.

Not really a PVPer myself but I am in agreement that there should be a penalty for exiting the game during an active duel. If you quit/end task during a duel your ship should remain motionless in the instance for 60 seconds and allow your opponent to finish what was started.

The user will then have to sit out this timeout before they can rejoin and may well return to find that their ship was in fact destroyed.

Playing in Open should have some risks involved in it, if you don't want to be involved in PvP then you should really stick to the other modes.

Easy solution

combat loggers get a bounty, very quickly they will be chased into solo or stop logging off as the bounties add up.

Make it large enough for them not to use it as a way of just saving a few tons of cargo but not too large to kill legitimate drops or emergencies (I have kids)

Also make it so they pay it back at the top rate but someone killing them doesn't get anywhere near the full amount for killing them to stop exploiters

say they pay 50K but someone catching them gets 2k something like that anyway NPC cops will force them out

I've had a system authority vessel do that to me.

Yup.

here's an idea. Why not fight people who are equipped to and actually want to fight you back.

Heres an idea, whilst playing open, accept the idea that ships more powerful than you might attack you (both NPC and human) and live with the consequences of a intrinsic element of the game.

If someone logs when being battered by an NPC how is it any different?

You need to be stepped on.
