I can confirm...

YES!

Okay, so its not the best mod in the world. But here's proof that it is possible ;)

It took me only 9 months of periodic work to get this far with understanding the file format, but I think its a nice start. [big grin]

Enjoy speculating.

Our own Gregorburns made the first ever (known?) PC mod :D

Keep up the good work!!

I don't know if cheat/trainers count as mods but there have been a few cheat/trainers for Planet Coaster that give unlimited money/happiness, etc. But the frequent updates make it difficult for them to stay working.

This is a cool start and a good sign for possibilities in the future, but I still think we have a better chance of getting an official UGC/CSO editor someday too

Now you have to make a toilet on the globe [wink]

I hope frontier doesn't go the route of bethesda with paid mods like this https://forums.planetcoaster.com/showthread.php/28286-Video-Discussing-Microtransactions-in-Games

I'm mostly just curious why frontier hasn't yet went the cities skylines direction of mods on the workshop. Seems like a no-brainer.

[money] if we had mods why would we buy scenery DLC packs? thats why I keep asking for bigger DLC, nobody wants to upload blueprints with micro-DLC since it does not allow a lot of people to use them

Exactly. But core-feature DLC like safari and/or aqua park (stuff that adds actual new gameplay and features) is something worth spending your money on. So they should release that kind of content and not just gocart skins. Let people do the skinning so they can focus on the gameplay. Works great for other games.

Everything starts small. Look at RCT3, give it a bit of time and the same will happen to PC.

Exactly. Look at Cities Skylines for example. You buy the DLC for the new gameplay mechanics, not the assets.

Please share with us how you did this amazing work [up]

It will probably take me just as long to explain as it took for me to work how to do it. (about 9 months) When I have enough information to build easy-to-use tools for making UGC, I will consider doing so, but right now its still in its early stages. Swapping this one texture took me a looong time today [tongue]

Now you have to make a toilet on the globe [wink]

Well working out the model format is probably going to be my next step, now that I know how they are stored.

This one has a few lighting issues, but looks good too. Perfect for any fans of Elite Dangerous

Maybe I should get to modding some in-game objects at some point too, other than just the main menu [haha]

Well, many hands make light work. [wink] We will all remember gregorburns was the first to do it. [big grin][up]

I'm just so excited and thankful and happy. So right now it's only possible to change a texture. Really curious what more is possible. For example: can you switch effects yet? Turn the fireworks from coaster crashes into explosion effects like we had in rct2? Or maybe even add entire new models (if software to make compatible models exists yet). I'm probably gonna bother you alot now because I honestly cannot wait to hear more about this, so I apologise in advance. [tongue]

Really great work, i'm so happy it's finally happening. Keep up the good work.

Yes!! Im so proud that "one of our own" got to be the first one to make mods :D

I think this was his whole motivation into modding, seeing me empty his litter bins :(
(Altough fortunatly it's just the selection picture and not the actual janitor)

So what happens when you click and drop it? Does it still drop a janitor or is it visual only?

Also gregorburns, I would very much like a mod where you can have a black hud instead of the blue. Is that possible?

I'm wondering how the sharing of mods will go, since you probably edit a file, are we allowed to share that file or can you only share the part of the code and do people have to edit the line numbers themselves?
