Planet Zoo | Americas Animal Pack | Announce

I love all animals and I’m happy for the people who wanted the saki, but damn that’s the ugliest monkey I’ve ever seen now I really wish it had been the squirrel instead
I don't know about that...

Oh yeah? Where were they?

To me it looks like they've only come out of the woodwork now that the coyote is being criticised, which is my point. Sure, it popped up now and again, but the prevailing opinion seemed to be "there are ten better dogs and fifty better species". It stinks of contrarianism.

I don't care if someone's calling it 'roadkill'. We went through that same song and dance with the Twilight Pack. Obviously there are people who aren't going to be fond of urbanised and potentially dangerous wild animals, justified or not.

As always, I just want some good faith arguments, because they never seem to actually be in good faith at DLC announcement time. Like, if someone has realised they actually like the coyote now that it's here, just say that. Don't pretend you always wanted it, or that it was always a good pick. Just say "Actually I'm fine with this." People might argue with you, but who cares? Your opinion can't be wrong; there's no objective truth about what animals should/shouldn't be included in the game.

How many times have I said I want the Sumatran tiger? I don't care when people tell me it would be a "wasted slot" or "just use the Bengal as a substitute". But I'd sure be annoyed if all those people suddenly came out saying, "Oh, great choice, yes, I wanted this," if it suddenly made it into the game.
I love the Coyote addition. I think its a iconic animal and they r well made. It wasn't on my wishlist tho but I never was against the idea of getting it. Ofc It's not exciting like the Coati or the Mara but I do like that animal and idc if ppl agree or not. But tbh I never was against any Animal (yes there r animals that i don't get why but after im seeing them in the game I do love them). Cuz I already got a lot of the Animals that I wished for so I'm accepting every animal that comes to the game cuz a lot of them adding smth to the game even if it's smth little.. like the Coyote for me is useful in terms of the quality and the improvement and it's adding smth to the NA sections in our zoos.

What motivation would anyone have to "pretend" they wanted the coyote on a forum where the majority of people didn't want it to be added?

Also, I find it weird to assume that people are pretending in the first place. Like, there are quite a lot of animals that aren't on my wishlist, and that I've never mentioned in posts before, but would be good additions to the game in my opinion. Would I be then be making a bad faith argument for defending those animals' inclusions? Am I only allowed to enjoy an animal's addition if I've been loudly advertising that I want it added?

Indeed.
As soon as I saw it in the teaser image I was sceptical... I could barely tell it was a rhea. The only reason why I didn't immediately think it was an ostrich was that we already had the ostrich
When we saw just the silhouette I was actually concerned that we were getting something like a somalí ostrich or another specific subespecies like that .If not for all the other animals teased in the papel picado being from the american continent i would have been sure that is what it was.

I wish i could be in that same spot rn. I thought this packs was gonna get me close to it, at least when it comes to local fauna, but they just went and picked two of the most boring animals i could think of from NA instead of my other two most wanted animals from southamerica. That is just my luck every single time with these DLCs lmao

Every time i think (not even write it down or manifest it out loud, just think about it) "i hope x animal is not in this pack and they pick y instead", they sure go with x lol every single time.

Happened to me with raccoon, wisent, coyote, sifaka, the whole of the barnyard pack concept itself and probably a handfull more. Some i've come to like and appreaciate (like the raccoon and some barnyard aditions) or at least accept they made sense (again barnyard, and stuff like the wisent) but others like the sifaka and the coyote I'm still kind of bitter about that they could have been another animal i actually wanted.

And is not like the animals i want are some weird niche or hiperspecific species that maybe only two people know about. I want common fairly popular stuff that also happen to be important for my local fauna representation like the mara or the coati (plus some also popular foreign animals like a duck, a pelican, the secretary bird, blackbuck or musk ox).

I am almost on the exact same page, I've basically got all of the ones that I want, most of mine are just animals I'd like to have or like in real life with one exception.

LORD PLEASE GIVE US A PELICAN 🙏

You have been really unlucky 💚💚💚 You never know what the future may hold, next DLC or PZ2 might be more up your alley. I'm glad you came around on the raccoon 🐾

i was originally in the anti-coyote camp, but i also was in the anti-african leopard camp tbh. both at first were carnivores that didn't really add too much to the game in terms of how i originally thought of it, but after playing with the leopard and planning for the coyote, i'm very much on board. i think they're different enough to warrant some inclusions in some of my parks, and i think that minor differences can make a world of difference. for example, i'm planning a small-scale zoo/park/museum right now that wouldn't warrant a major carnivore like a black bear or a wolf, but coyote fits that box perfectly where i wanted something bigger than a fox, but smaller than a wolf. african leopard for different reasons, but still.

i just never understand how people can be upset over animal choices in a roster wherein we cannot change them. it's so much better for yourself to accept it as it is and appreciate the animal, but still voice your want for other kinds of animals in other means. idk im just excited right now lol

Breaking news: very positive leaf knows things we don’t and is very happy

People can be upset so Frontier doesn't make the same mistakes. If the people continue to talk about other kinds of animals and their wants those will never get heard unless negative feedback.
