Planet Zoo | Americas Animal Pack | Announce

I mean interspecies enrichment doesn't actually influence their behaviour at all (something I'd really love to see changed in PZ2, interspecies interactions would be awesome), I agree it's cool to have but it doesn't do much except give them a little enrichment bonus when welfare is turned on
Oh, my bad. My bad, @Marvinb
I thought you were talking about in-game animals behaviors, I didn't read.

Yeah, the interspecies enrichment doesn't do much. I think it adds some.kinda bonus, but I dunno what

10 points per species is fairly significant for flexible species like red river hogs and capybaras. For a lot of African hootstock, there's enough options to completely replace enrichment objects entirely.
Yes, but for others where they don't have a lot of interspecies enrichment, it's low. Because then we'd have to out toys, which is fine but can ruin the natural look

One gripe i have with the whole system is that its just kinda made up. Irl the times where two animals actually benefit from living together are probably far and few between. For the majority its probably more indifferent coexisting, and some probably would prefer to be on their own.
Like zebras for example, from what ive heard about them i highly doubt any other animal would get something out of living with them. Heck of giving the opportunity most savannah mixed enclosures would probably vote kick the zebras out of there :D
And if say a zebra is enriched by sharing their space with a springbok, why wouldnt it be by a blackbuck?

So imo the whole "keeping animals together that live together in the wild" thing should be an education bonus for the guests if anything

I think this is the best way to go about the interspecies system for a sequel as I agree the current system has been flawed from the start. It might be good for animal/plant matchups too. (Just as a bonus and not a negative though - I don't want to be penalized for having the "wrong" foliage when it fits my zoo's overall environment. Albeit that's incredibly minor in the current game).

I might be totally wrong on this but IIRC Zoo Tycoon 2 had a slight education bonus for guests viewing animals with plants from their environment in them (or maybe it was just a thought they had? Idk It's been a while since I've played and actually paid attention to guests in that game. Maybe it was animal combos too/instead? I genuinely don't remember but the point is that I think it's a cool system even if it didn't actually exist, and I'm just going insane lol). I'd love to see a system that expands upon that idea in a PZ2 with animal mixtures and to a lesser extent animal/plant mixtures (again without the penalty for having "wrong" mixes for the latter)

It is mostly made up and sometimes straight out dumb, yes. I can't see any Bison IRL thinking "thank goodness I got Paririe dogs in my habitat, now I feel better!" But I do like the concept in general. To not scatter enrichment items and because it is indeed true in real zoos in some constillations. I agree though, in most zoos other animals would like the Zebras out ;)
