Planet Zoo: Console Edition

Same thing really happening here just without the beta access. We can expect the deluxe edition to be made into an upgrade pack like before as locking out 3 key animals would be a really really bad stunt to pull off when pc players could buy the animals after release (like I did 2 years after launch)

While I somewhat get what you're coming from, these animals weren't marketed anything like "pre-order exclusive animals" in the PC version.
To my knowledge you could always buy the Deluxe Edition, even after the Beta access ended and the base game was out. The only thing they added later on was the Deluxe Edition Upgrade for those who didn't buy Deluxe the first time around.

Why, exactly, are people not upset about the old Deluxe Edition animals being locked behind pre-orders? The Huayangosaurus situation in JWE2 got more attention and that was a much less greedy move. Sure, other Frontier CMS games had pre-order bonuses, but they're always been extraneous side content like vehicle cosmetics. It's never been part of the game's main content before! Think about it: in this case, people who don't buy the console edition within a certain timeframe will permanently be locked out of animals we've had for years, including the Komodo dragon which is arguably one of the more important species for a zoo sim to have. If more of a stink isn't made about this, don't be surprised if we see "Pre-order now to get the exclusive capybara, Indian peafowl, and grizzly bear!" when a PZ2 is announced.
Don't see a Reason why they shouldn't release a Deluxe Upgrade for this Version of the Game too. But I definitely hate it when great Content is just locked away forever because it was a Pre-Order Bonus

The pc version of planet zoo also had the same preorder bonus back in 2019, thankfully the deluxe edition bonus was made into an upgrade pack (at a very high cost though) so everyone was still able to buy the likes of the komodo dragon to use in their zoos.
🤔 Pretty sure that I remember the Option to Pre-Order either the normal Version or the Deluxe Edition which gave you Access to the Beta, Wallpapers, I think Soundtrack too and of course the three Deluxe Animals. The Upgrade Package was just released to give People that didn't buy the Deluxe Edition to get Access to the Animals

I guess it's like ordering early to get the Animals for free, which you would need to pay for if you buy it after Release

There's already a separate Deluxe Edition for console consisting of the Southeast Asia Animal Pack and Wetlands Animal Pack contents.

What are you guys talking about in this version will apply to deluxe edition animals from console - SEA and Wetlands animals. After release deluxe edition bonus will be made into upgrade pack so everyone still will be able to buy the likes of the platypus or sun bear to use in their zoos.
On the other hand pygmy hippo is now part of base game. Its not labeled as separately purchasable content. It, komodo dragon and gazelle are straight up gone forever for everyone, who didnt buy pre-order bonus.

Sweet so my favorite game is about to die soon.
Nice
As tough as it may be, I'm more of the opinion that the game is not dying but just entering a new era like ZT2 did. It's not only Frontier that is working on expanding this game. There's this other unofficial community working to bring exciting stuff in the future. It will just take time but there's already been quite a revolution recently.

Firstly, the Huayangosaurus situation got attention because it was a vanilla JWE animal being put as part of the deluxe content, this is a different situation that has nothing to do with such an issue at all.

Second, is there any confirmation that the preorder bonus will be permanently locked out? No? Right, because you are you just assuming things with no basis. Not only that, but it makes no sense that Frontier would do that instead of monetizing those 3 animals afterwards. It's not hard to use some common sense instead of going around asking why people aren't mad about scenarios you made up in your mind :)

🤔 did Planet Coaster get any new Content after the Console Version was released?
The console edition got announced in June 2020, support for Planet Coaster ended in June 2019, so no.

I think this gives a bit of hope for Planet Zoo, as they are releasing the console version while the game is still being supported. We still have one guaranteed DLC left for spring, so we can't really know if more DLCs are coming afterwards or not until we see what this DLC is.

My words. We just should wait what spring DLC will bring and afterwards we will know more in June. If there is a spring DLC guaranteed then we will have 17 DLCs for PC and the console edition is talking about 14 DLCs (+Wetlands and SEA makes 16). So I think they speak only for the Status Quo as Frontier was always doing within the past. But nevertheless I am tired of speculation I must say 😃. I just will wait and see what happens within the next months.

I sure hope there is more transparency about scenery limits if there are any this time around. The Oswald Eugene counter for Planet Coaster was somewhat understandable given that reliable and consistent performance is a big deal for console games, but there being no official communication about it beforehand really soured the game for me. Worse still is that the trailer for PC Console Edition showed parks that were literally impossible to recreate due to the build limit, meaning I can't really trust that this trailer will be representative of the final game either.

If there is some version of the Oswald Eugene counter in PZ Console Edition, please be upfront about it, and better yet: give us the option to go past the limit at our own (very sternly warned about) peril.

They have already been upfront about it here:

If you really place judgement on a game’s lifetime based upon if you are forking over $10 every month for a few new animals and think when that stops the entire game stops then I’m not sure if you really like the game, but just like getting new toys to play with every 3 months.

The community is only as strong as the members who are part of it. Look at Zoo Tycoon, which received, arguably less content than what Planet Zoo got, and they’re still going somewhat strong for a game of that caliber.

I don’t like comments like this because it entirely devalues the rest of the members who love this game, who produce content whether it’s silly zoo videos or tutorials or mods or blueprints or font sets or anything like that.

Yes, would it be good if this game goes on forever and we get to the point where Frontier adds animals like the Lowland Paca or White Faced Buffalo Weaver or the Yellow Eyed Penguin? Yeah, it would. But to me, personally, the game felt complete with Wetlands, and anything beyond that has just been extra. The fact we have nearly doubled the animal roster, and have nearly ten times the amount of scenery we started off with, is incredible. And I for one am so grateful that we have made it this far to where the Wild Boar and Wisent of all things made it into an official pack. Literally if not for the community we wouldn’t have gotten those weird things.

Yeah to me the game won’t die unless if the community does, and to me, I love this game, and will continue to push it as much as I can. I will be part of that community.

They have already been upfront about it here:

I see, my worries are squashed. I didn't realize they had posted anything outside of the trailer itself, so thanks for bringing that to my attention.

My point about being able to go past the limit still stands, though it might not even be necessary for me personally since that looks like a pretty good amount of scenery for just 21%.
