It's definitely a new model, it just resembles the in-game Komodo more than the Nile monitor because the former looks more like real varanid.I think this is the Komodo Dragon model which this is pretty interesting choice, but it looks SO good! All the animals in this pack probably will look insanely Good, can't wait for the Fossa!
The monitor looks great, but it’s still the habitat species I’m least excited for by a pretty wide margin. I’m fine with more habitat lizards, but I would’ve much preferred something more distinct from what we have. Something with flashier colors, arboreal, a much different distribution (Australia?), or even (especially) any manner of tegu would’ve landed better.

Well in fact the water monitor is a pretty good pet and most of them aren't aggressive, i really wish that they have a lot of color morphs like the full melanistic one
It's probably referring to how they often become used to people in urban areas in their native range rather than how they'll function in-game. I've never heard of a walkthrough monitor lizard habitat, and the Nile monitor isn't a walkthrough species so I assume the water monitor won't be either.
I'll definitely have something to say if a monitor lizard is made a walkthrough animal before the damn emu.

Wow! Frontier, all the animals in this pack looks so incredible! I hope we will see many more packs, I would just love to have huge collection of animals of this quality and some niche ones too. But not get ahead of myself, I look forward this pack! I build alot of Southeast Asian Zoos and I will be glad to add these amazing animals to it and i look forward to see Fossa soon.

The quality of all the animals in the last few dlcs is insane.
The Monitor looks great like all the animals of the Pack until now. Nice to have it within the Game soon, even if I was not so excited about its Integration at First. I am very excited to see all the animals the First time in action on YouTube at Monday If the YouTubers are again allowed to Upload their Videos one day earlier.
Yeah, and it looks a little thinner as wellI tried to take a photo of the Nile monitor from a similar angle. They have definitely adjusted the monitor neck I think, it is longer and a bit higher in position. Looks really 100% better.

At this point I hardly use base game animals except for exhibit species and the lemurs regularly.
Maybe occasionally I'll use a base game species, but hardly ever
Meanwhile I cry inside every time my recreations requires a Malayan tapir
