Great job on the pack as always. Definitely plan on buying as I want everything planet zoo. As for animal selection itā€™s not that there entirely bad as their all great in their own ways. The Fossa is great and is definitely deserving of a roster spot. The sloth is great to me and I really donā€™t blame it being a exhibit animal Iā€™ve yet to visit a zoo where they are free roaming. Not to mention there quite lethargic which is realistic. Same as most reptiles especially snakes which honestly would look pretty unrealistic moving all over in there exhibit. The red River hog is good and deserving in its own way. Would have been happier with a wild boar but I have nothing against it. Lar gibbon is good and bad. I like them but would have preferred a primate in its place. The water monitor is a surprise. On one hand itā€™s something different and quite impressive looking for sure. On the other a false gharial or crocodilian would have been better. To me the pack lacks a star animal. I think the Africa pack definitely had that with the white rhino. The arctic with the polar bear(although predictable) and so on. To me as much as people will hate it a Sumatran tiger would have filled that role. A Javan leopard also. Oh well definitely good maybe not near my favorite pack ever but maybe it will prove me wrong. Anyway look forward to buying it and adding 5 more amazing animals to my zoo.

To be honest, cool animals choices, but have put the Monitor instead of the Coati is a shame : Coati was super high on the whishlist, and for a tropical theme, it lacks a LOT of South American animals.
I mean, it was the PERFECT pack for the Coati, it could have been the star of this pack, and instead we have a reskin of the Nile Monitor.
It could have been the perfect pack, but there is this STRANGE choice, I canā€™t understand.

P.S. The Red River Hog is stunning !!

Guys, maybe you should know that the links in the OP are kinda broken, at least it seems for me.

Thanks for this great DLC roster! I'm really looking forward to that Sulawesi traditional architecture, they may be the coolest addition to the modular building system.
Just went through and checked them all, only one seemed to be corrupted for some reason but I've fixed it. Let me know if you're still having issues with any of them, and thanks for the heads up!

I'm so hyped for this pack! I was ready for a scenery pack and this fills some big gaps. Keep feasting my eyes on the preview shots to see what we're going to be getting, looks fantastic.

I love the line-up - šŸ’š sloth šŸ’š red river hog šŸ’š tropical primate šŸ’š Maybe I'm less of a puritan than others but I really don't mind that it's a less-common-in-captivity species of sloth. I hope we get more primates in future DLCs but the lar gibbon is a lovely choice. I didn't realise how excited I'd be for a water monitor lizard, they are prolific in SE Asia and no tropical build from that area would be complete without them :)

I am surprised no WE bird but maybe there's something big planned for the summer?

The pics of the Red River Hogs are stunning, omg.

I've been trying to build Angkor Wat, I'll have to start all over again with the new scenery pieces!

There were similar comments on Twilight's building theme from the preview images too, and then we got our hands on the pack and all the basic building stuff was very versatile and useable, with a handful of heavily-themed elements, which were of course emphasised in the promotional material to make big flashy things that looked completely different from the other packs - that's sort of the point of promotional material. In this case, the heavily-themed elements are a lot more useable - Chester Zoo has a whole area where it goes full on with South East Asian theming, so there's precedent for it in real zoos.

I've got some quibbles, but I do like most of the individual elements of this pack - similar to the Africa pack, it all hangs together a bit weird, but the individual bits of it are good. Fossa and red river hog fill important gaps in the roster (even if I still think fossa would have been a better pick for an Islands pack), monitor is a good "gap filler" which makes South East Asia even stronger than it was already, and a second gibbon continues a good trend set with otters and penguins of introducing a big weird one first and following it up with a much more common species. I really do wish we had a sloth that was kept in captivity, but a sloth is better than none, I suppose.

Looking forward to seeing it all in action, especially if brachiation is now possible on building items - that's an absolute game-changer. Has it been confirmed anywhere that that is indeed the case, or whether it's just possible on the vines?

Hrm I'm half and half on this one. Fossa, red river hog, sloth all amazing picks. I really didn't want another gibbon and with the water monitor it likely means no perentie later down the line. Bummer.

However, seeing the gibbon brachiate on vines gives me a bit of hope that that will be extended to orangutans and that the siamang won't be confined to the enrichment set anymore. This does seem something like a climbing update to me. Also cool the monitor can dive, really hope the Nile monitor gets updated too.

The building set looks gorgeous I cannot WAIT to get my hands on that. People love to complain about the sets looking "theme parky" but tend to forget you can use the pieces for literally anything at all. You don't have to use them in the theme they came in. The flat brick caught my eye instantly and I am so pumped to see it in-game.

Also so excited to see the new plants! I really hope there are some new palms. We need them so badly.

Taking a second to say thank you to Frontier for all the nice things they are doing with this game and, in particular, for:

(i) the new social mechanic, to fix issues such as animals rushing to fight each other as soon as the babies mature into the wrong number of animals. Showing that even at this stage of development you are still making improvements to core aspects of the game that need improvement;

(ii) keeping the price of DLC consistent throughout the life of the game. Unlike other games I know and play looking to milk their playerbase at every turn because they know they have the best IP in the genre.

Even if I was not playing the game, I would still buy the new DLC to help this game achieve its potential. Well done.

Rank of the animals on the Meta Whishlist :
3 : Sloth, 4 : Hog, 5 : Gibbon, 8 : COATI !!!, 9 : Fossa
So much stars, and then you haveā€¦
234 : Asian Water Monitorā€¦

Yes, Iā€™m grumpy, I KNOW !!
The species of sloth that coming in the pack is not the one in the 3 top (I wish it was the Linnaeus's Two-Toed Sloth) the one who we going to get have (Brown Throated Sloth) 81 votes.. but yeah the Coati could make this pack one of the best we ever got.. and also if the species of the Sloth been the Linnaeus's Two-Toed Sloth or even the Hoffmann's Two-Toed Sloth just could make an insane pack. if we got Coati and Two-Toed Sloth it could have been my fav dlc we got for PZ and I'm sure for many more! but still good dlc and I hope to see in the future Two Toed Sloth and Coati!

I have a feeling this is what we've been getting since Africa. I sometimes feel like they realise they missed an important item/animal and just fit it in with another pack. First with the arctic fox in the NA DLC, now with the Indonesian theme. Well, I'm glad we finally do get it tho.

LOL

I still think the gibbon should've been a SA monkey.

Idk why they hate birds and Southamerican fauna.

The pack is really nice though but oddly enough is the first time i'm more excited about the building pieces and foliage than the animals.

I don hope for a complementary rainforest Animal pack in the future though.

Itā€™s really hard to make me speechless but youā€™ve really succeeded in that Frontier!šŸ¤©

After the #hoggate I thought that my beloved hogs could really be omitted but here they are! So manny months of my personal campaigns for the red river hogs finally paid off šŸ„°

I know Iā€™ve said it before but this seems to be my favorite pack of them all šŸ„° I love everything about it šŸ¤©
I love all the animal choices. I am super glad they have chosen the more recognizable spieces of sloth, super happy of the improved brachiation and my favorite Lar gibbons and I am super positively surprised by the Asian water monitor.

I would only miss Coati but I hope they would be added along the way.

The Indonesian architecture is freaking amazing and I canā€™t wait until I will build the Indonesian village in one of my zoos.

This is just super cool pack and I looooooove it!!!

I wouldnā€™t be myself I wouldnā€™t mention that tropical pack is a great opportunity to fix the Malayan tapir which seems to be the only one animal in the game that I really dislike right now.

One of the best packs ever Frontier !!! Thank you from the bottom of my icy heart šŸ’œ

Besides the species of sloth, the animal choices are kind of hard to be mad at. It is more the composition of it, I guess. It feels like two bases for good packs have been boiled down to one mediocre version of it.

Had the sloth, gibbon, and fossa been together with a New World Monkey and something like a New World Porcupine or a Tree Kangaroo. Then we would have a solid arboreal pack, with potential for useful scenery too.

Then let the red river hog and monitor be in a Tropical Animal Pack together with some birds, a monkey, perhaps a tortoise or coati. Plenty of options here.

So besides the obvious lack of birds and monkeys in this tropical pack, it is not so much the choices here that annoy me, as it is the wasted potential.
That is the feeling I'm sitting with right now.

I'm really excited to see the brachiation being better, that alone makes me happy to get the gibbon, even though a monkey is much more needed.
The fossa and red river hog are somewhat logical choices for PZ, so I will not say anything bad about these choices, though I would be fine without them.
The monitor stops this from being another complete mammal gathering and adds another non-crocodilian habitat reptile, so that is interesting.
The walk-through exhibit is screaming for a bird, so I am not satisfied with the sloth, to be honest...
