Planet Zoo: Twilight Pack and Update 1.11 Out Now! 🦇

No, a lot of bigger animals can learn to go through PVC curtains. Some zoos use them to separate the outdoor and indoor exhibit. It prevents heatloss inside and the animals can choose to go inside or outside as they wish. In Antwerp Zoo, they use this method for okapi, giraffes and rhinos among others. (Birds or bats can't go through those curtains though).
Yeah it should work for the maybe slightly smaller in size animals considering its a hard frame at the top. Obviously we don't have heatloss modelled into the game but nothing stopping you from trying to simulate a real indoor shelter

  • Added Temperate biome icon to the California Sea Lion education board
  • Added Tundra and Temperate biome icons to the Grey Seal Education board
  • Added Grasslands biome icon to the Giant Otter Education board
  • Added Taiga biome icon to the Arctic Fox education board
  • Added Taiga biome icon to the Llama Education board
  • Added Desert biome icon to the Black-Tailed Prairie Dog education board
  • Added Taiga biome for the Polar Bear Education board

Updated the Asian Small-Clawed Otter, Capybara, and Platypus education board names so they are no longer written in capital letters

Fixed incorrect binomial name on the Snow Leopard education board

Oh no, you did update the real education boards, but you forgot to update the corresponding images which we can use on the tv screens (for example on the large or small tv). Most of those pictures are still the old version with the errors, only two or three were actually fixed 😢

Oh definitely. It unfortunately won't work with animals that are too big to fit into the frame. But I'm already super happy that it works for some animals like the okapi.

I'm as certain as I can be that they just won't have had a chance to do the animations for the snakes (after all to make them look good it is a lot more complicated than holding something in their hand)
Pretty sure that is not it. All you gotta do for those snakes is make them hang around their shoulders and that's it, just as static as all the other animals they take out.

Won't smaller hitboxes be better? I mean: The ones we have now are 4 m by 4 m. Please try to visualize that! It is huge! Like 2 "normal" doors on top of each other and 4 "normal" doors in width.

P.S: I really don´t like these building for giants pieces.
So agree with you. I hate those utterly unrealistic scales we gotta build with ingame to make things work...4m doors for a tortoise etc. just doesn't look good.

Yeah it really is huge, I have put the pvc curtains in my static avaries and I still need to half sink them in the ground so they are not stupidly big

Smaller Hitboxes would be great. At least for the really big Animals because it takes so much Experimentation Time to find out how big a Gate needs to be for a Elephant, Giraffe, Rhino or Hippo and then it often just ends up looking bad.
In Real Life a 500kg Horse can easily walk through a normal Door Frame but in the Game it would probably need at least double the Width and Height😕

I think the Educator should at least hold the Front of the Body with one Hand while the Rest is on the Shoulders and from Time to Time they should show their Tongue and move their Head

🤔 Made me just realize that it won't work for Giraffes and Elephants. Probably also not for Hippos and Rhinos. Would be nice if we could get a bigger Version for those in a future Update
So, I just made a little test in the game and it unfortunately doesn't work for giraffes, elephants, rhinos and hippos. For the giraffes, it make sense because they are taller than the frame but the others should realistically be able to go through it. The problem is their insane hitbox. What's funny though is that elephants and rhinos put their head through the PVC and even make the curtains move with their head. But they never go through it. But it can look like they are inside and thinking about going outside before changing their mind 😅

Oh that's a shame, really wish at least some of the bigger hitboxes got reworked for this. Even the tapir needs about a 4m gap to enter

If Frontier could do something to cancel the hitbox for these PVC curtains so elephants, rhinos and hippos could traverse them, that would be so amazing. I don't know if that's technically possible but we can always make the suggestion. @Tim Smith @Eltanin Casciani.

You will be happy to learn it works for the tapir though.

Forget the bats, pvc curtains steal the show!
