Planet Zoo: Twilight Pack and Update 1.11 Out Now! 🦇

If anyone else is interested, I believe the pvc curtains work on all animals that are smaller than rhinos. Successfully tested grizzlies, chimps, white rhino, flamingo, Aldabra tortoise, orangutan, zebra. Some larger old animals like elephants and indian rhino have issues with just a tiny gap left - a tweak to the hitbox could easily make them pass through

Pretty sure that is not it. All you gotta do for those snakes is make them hang around their shoulders and that's it, just as static as all the other animals they take out.
I suppose I'm coming at it from the point of view that one of the most amazing things about using snakes with the public is to demonstrate how amazingly they move, maybe it's only the snakes I've worked with (on a very limited basis) but they've always been pretty mobile when being handled. Not zipping around trying to get out of your arms but certainly exploring their surroundings and the handler as their perch. If they didn't have some significant movement in game then I'm not so fussed about it being implemented eventually though it would always be nice to get more.

@frontier....if someone reads this thread...
Here are a few examples how redwood trees outside of the national parks (in zoos or parks) usually look like:

If we ever get giant sequoia (mountain redwood) in the game, please use such models (as the trees in zoos aren't as big as the ones in the national parks).........

Yeah it is a weird mix of both specimens , it looks like a generic photoshopped redwood tree found on Instagram. Its too narrow and small for Sequoiadendron giganteum (giant sequoia) and it's far too red and bare for Sequoia sempervirens (coastal sequoia)

Even in Scotland there is redwood trees to marvel at and it's closer to the giant red cedar in terms of shape and color.

NEW - Automated Exhibit Population Management
  • We have added a new mechanism by which you can delegate repeat population management in exhibits.

Hi! Is there any reason for not implementing Automated Population Management for normal habitats as well? Management of habitats also can be frustrating, especially for species that tolerate only one adult male. You don't pay attention for a minute and out of the sudden you have animals fighting and inbreeding....

Love the Twilight Pack so far but I have one major question/complaint, why are the bristlecone pine branches not climbable? I placed one in my raccoon habitat expecting them to climb it only to find out it's a non-climbable piece.

I'm loving this pack. The bats are awesome (can't wait to see what else might be coming for this exhibit type :D)

Just a tiny little thing - has anyone else noticed a new sort of beeping sound in the background? Seems to happen when in 'build mode'. I'm sure it wasn't there before and it's just a tiny bit annoying. Unless it has always been there and I'm having a moment, it has been a long day...

I wish they were much rarer to find.
I mean, at least in sandbox I haven't had a single color morph yet after adopting more than a hundred red foxes, so I actually wish they were less rare. 😅

Weird, I noticed a similar sound today and thought I was going crazy! Can't really describe it, but it almost sounds like the beeping that occurs in JWE1 when a building is constructed.

I'm glad it's not just me 😅

If Frontier could do something to cancel the hitbox for these PVC curtains so elephants, rhinos and hippos could traverse them, that would be so amazing. I don't know if that's technically possible but we can always make the suggestion. @Tim Smith @Eltanin Casciani.

You will be happy to learn it works for the tapir though.
But then it wouldn't move anymore and it would probably still not work because you usually build something around it. I'd prefer if they would instead just adjust the Animal Hitboxes. Don't even know what Problems the normal sized Hitboxes caused because everything was fine for me before they made them big

huh white rhinos can go through 😁

Forget the bats, pvc curtains steal the show!
🤔 Is the White Rhino smaller than the Indian Rhino or has a smaller Hitbox?
Absolutely agree how great they are. I will add them to so many Animal Gates. I hope Frontier will change their Mind and make a big Hitbox Update someday

That is because the Malayan Tapir carries around on so much shame for being a lazy reskin...
😂

Sorry, but... piebaaaald! <3 <3 <3

That's a awesome Screenshot. Would be nice if someone could also post a Picture of the Piebald Silver Fox.
How does the Piebald Mutation work? Does every Animal has the same white Pattern or are they different?

Ok, then maybe no Elephants and Giraffes at first unless there's some kind of Workaround to still make a proper Entrance for those. Wanted to keep the White Rhino anyways when I get the Africa Pack

I'd absolutely love the Educators holding Snakes but only if they wouldn't be just not moving like a Rubber Snake. Would be way too boring. Tongue Movements are the absolute Minimum that should be done

Absolutely agree. It already annoys me that we have no Zoo Specimens of many of the tropical Trees in the Game but only ancient Giants instead that you would never find in a Zoo or a Botanical Garden that is located in a temperate or even colder Region

Hybrid Tree, just like the beloved "Malayan" Hybrid Tapir🙃

Fighting isn't the biggest Problem though in my Opinion but the Bug that was introduced with some Update (can't remember reading that it was fixed) that causes Animals to magically get injured when the Social Requirements aren't right. Had a favorite Rhino once and when I looked at her all the Time starting shortly before she grew up so I can immediately move her to her own Enclosure I saw how she got injured despite not even coming into Contact with one of the other Rhinos

Unless it has always been there and I'm having a moment, it has been a long day...
Don't remember ever hearing it. Also can't find out if it's also happening when I play. Must be either some Problem with your Computer or it's a new Problem

Out with the old...

Looks really nice 👍

I'm gonna go with a smaller Hitbox, usually the more modern animal additions have far more refined hitboxes compared to the old ones cough *tapir*cough

Wisdom of Google also states both rhinos are near identical in size
🤔 I wonder why they don't adjust the old ones then. Seems like that should work

Happy release day everyone!

I had not planned to buy the pack immediately, as I am super busy this week, haven't really gotten back into my gaming mood and haven't played since the Conservation Pack. But a lovely friend gifted it to me and I had to check, of course

I was a bit sceptical about the pack, as I'm really not into the spooky theme and while I like all the animals included, none except the wombat were "showstoppers" for me - so it felt a bit unfortunate to have them all combined in one pack. But I must say that they are again really well done and I do love the building pieces! I was afraid there would be more focus on the spooky theme, but it is only a few things really. The majority of the objects looks versatile and the gothic style works really well with the Europe theme.

I peresonally really like the bats and the way they are done. It's what I expected after the announcement and I think their animations are a lot more varied and interesting than in the small exhibits. And the way the exhibit can be decorated and customized opens a lot of possibilities to use it. If this is what small birds will be like, I can absolutely live with that and would prefer them that way than not included at all!

The exhibit improvements from the update are really great, too - the Population Management is awesome and (for me) really unexpected. Also amazing that exhibits are getting some more love in general now and that the keeper talk thing has been enhanced as well.

So this is not really one of my favourite packs in terms of the main content, but I like it nonetheless. It leaves me extremely confident for the future of the game and a long support to come, as I feel that 1) nobody would develop a new type of exhibit for one animal and 2) they have shown that they are willing to touch mechanics like the exhibit management even after a long time. So I really hope I can dedicate more time to the game in the upcoming months, because I absolutely enjoy the direction this is taking in general!

Takes time away from new dlc I guess. Would be great if every update we saw a old animal be reworked. The disappointing thing is that it isn't just a few lines of code to tweak, some animals require as much work as making a brand new animal
I would already be very happy with adjusted Hitboxes and fixed Social Requirements (cough cough Ring Tailed Lemur)

By the Way can we toggle Educators holding Animals off or should I just have no Axolotl Talks if Frontier shouldn't fix it?

I don't see an option to toggle animal holding, I would disable the axolotl talks if you don't want them to hold it
