Planet Zoo - Update 1.1.2

Sometimes I need to close and re-open the Trade-Window because I can't use the Button to buy or sell a Animal. It only happened after this Update

I almost created a post in the general section on how I was there was more transparency. Many developers now explicitly highlight their current plans. Most notable for this is Ubisoft who has released roadmaps for each of their recent games. However, Bethesda, and even Nintendo/GameFreak have joined on. Even if plans change having that transparency creates a tight community with even more to talk about.

That's not how Frontier work I'm afraid.

Might I also suggest some spoiler tags around that lot ;)

It's not how many companies work, haha, but it's a movement that is gaining momentum and hopefully Frontier join. The gaming community now values transparency from developers. For example, Cyberpunk 2077 was just delayed several months due to console performance issues. Because of their transparency, the delay has been welcomed by the entire community - a decade ago it would have instilled anger and discontent within the community.

They still sell games after all that rubbish they published?

I don't think we really need a roadmap. But I understand people are keen to know the status of their bug reports and the way Frontier is dealing with them.

Rubbish or not, their games still sell boat loads and have big communities.

I don't disagree, but it won't happen trust me I've been here long enough 😉 though realistically I don't think anyone believed Cyberpunk would actually be released in April.

I don't own a hat, but if they do change their stance then I will glady buy one and eat it for you 😁
I'm not saying they shouldn't, but another thing you have to bear in mind is that Frontier is a PLC and at the end of the day they are responsible to their shareholders, this also opens up the fact that certain things can only be announced at certain times. And if something were to, for example, be delayed past the financial year it was announced in then it could have huge knock on effects.

The communication on bugs is something that has been reduced over the years, and more so as more games have been added to the recent portfolio. It is a huge shame, but you get far more information here than some of Frontier's games at least.

I don't think you're wrong or disagree with you but man I hate hate hate when "shareholders" are used as an excuse for things. "Can't do X, bunch of rich folk in an ivory tower might get upset" is probably a the very bottom of every lay-man's priority list.

I'd say that the stock market is more the issue. Frontier's actions could affect the stock market, which could affect them and by extension the shareholders. I certainly don't have an ivory tower though ;)

But sorry I think I'm veering too far OT.

I like there is no roadmap, just improve things where and when you can and keep bringing an ever improving/evolving game through updates/DLC as and when they can be implemented and tested. Release dates are pretty much mandatory nowadays and look at the recent AAA title that is slipping from that to bring a better product which should be applauded but doesn't seem to be.

I don't think there is much benefit in committing now to what you can do in the next 2/6/12 months, I am sure internally there is a plan but you just set yourself up for a fall if it can't all be achieved. I like surprises as well like the Arctic DLC recently (y)

Indeed, and setting too many release dates only puts pressure on the devs to reach deadlines.

Honestly, I wouldnt even want a roadmap at all. It would turn me just too excited each time, it would make it soo hard for me knowing about new DLCs already but having to wait for them for months... Especially should they add the animals I want in the game and they would announce them now, but they wouldnt come until much later this year or even just next year, I dont know how I could surive this.o_O Sure, it would be great to know they add them at all, but I still prefer shorter waiting periods.

I think it was great how they just announced the Arctic Pack a few days before it got released(y) And personally I hope it stays that way, having to wait just a week (or less) for a pack I prefer much over having to wait half a year or longer:giggle:

Well, I come from a time where DLCs where MUCH bigger than they are now but also announed 6 month in advanced. And you got glimpse of it during the waiting time. Of course the waiting was hard, but I liked the excitement for month, the planning of a gaming vacation and the huuuge different each dlc made to a base game. I miss those times.

On the update: Devs, I love you. And I know you are working your butts off. But this update seems really unstable and buggy. I have crashes when I pause too long, crashes when I compare mates, crashes all over the place and the player name bug is annyoing. It seems like the influencers have those bugs as well, so it's probably a pretty regular one. Yes, I do use the issue tracker. But can you maybe plan a bit more testing and take your time with the updates / test them in bigger zoos? That would be awesome. I'm at a point where I would even love a roll back with the update, as I get a heart attack every time I unpause and pray to the planet gods that it will not crash, when I forgot to save before unpausing.

The problem is that there are so many different computer constellations on which people play PZ, 4 different modes, individual playing styles that tax the system in different ways, etc. that a lot of the problems that not affect everyone of us are close to impossible to find during their tests. The devs could spent a month doing nothing but play PZ (which from a business perspective is of course not feasible) and never encounter some of those bugs. They couldn’t even reproduce some major bugs using the same save file as the player.

The best way to help them fix problems is submitting reports and save games where appropriate.

I know it's impossible to find and solve every bug because of different machines. But as I said, the game ran fine on my machine. I feel like they tweaked the way the game calculates things. When it before calculated on the fly, it seems like now it only does when you unpause, making it sometimes too much. And the player name thing doesn't seem to be a machine thing.

Hi everyone! I've got a quick update for you. We are planning on releasing an update this week that will be relatively small, but will focus on the more critical fixes. One of those is the infinite loading bug in Franchise Mode. Another is some players loading into their zoos and being kicked back to the menu. We are aiming to get this update out in the latter half of the week. Hopefully this will resolve many, if not all of the issues regarding these two bugs.
We are aiming to get another, broader update out in a few weeks that will look at some smaller bug fixes, such as the Arctic tag bug.

"Hey all,
So regarding the Arctic tag - We will be removing the Arctic tag and animals from the Arctic Pack will instead be marked with their respective continent range (ie. North America or Europe). With this, it will allow them to have plants which fully match their biome. The animals will still be marked as "Arctic DLC", but this will not affect their continents.
We have this planned for a future update. To my knowledge, this won't be in the next update we will be releasing, but instead the one after that, which we will be releasing in the next few weeks. I hope this helps :)"

Thanks for all your support so far. Please continue to post of the Issue Tracker! It is imperative to getting these fixes out.

I like this upfront-information style a lot. :) Just curious, don't know if you can answer Chante, but will the update after the next update also include other thinbgs as bug fixes? Additional sandbox options, tweakings or something like that?

We're always looking at ways to balance the game and make it more enjoyable for players. I can't confirm what will be in the update after the one this week, as the team are still working out what will be in there. When we have more information on the update, we'll be able to let you know more :)

I definitely hope for more sandbox mode options like No Litter, No Damage / Breakdown of things like ATM etc., an always fill all food resources option would also be very welcome or an option so all food and water resources are always full as a secondary option along with it for those that want that.

Beside those, im wondering if we will ever see the tour guide added that was shown in the trailer.
And please a Map Editor so we can design our own entrances.
