🐾 Planet Zoo - Update 1.12 coming 13 Dec 🐾

Amazing update, I am so happy with Guided Tours. I'm already looking forward to using it. 🥰

Currently there is a stream, so I am running off to watch 👀

Bulldozer tool! Bulldozer tool! After years of waiting it is finally here! Gotta be honest I did not exspect to see the day. And it sounds like it has the JWE 2 features as well which is amazing.

Those tours also sound like a really cool new addition and I couldn't help but think...those tour points...would it be possible to use them in workzone setups as well? Something like that would be perfect to keep caretakers and guards in their zones and actually make them use ALL the paths and not just the shortest possible between point a and b.

Just some ideas of what sandbox options are still requested https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/sandbox-options-still-requested.541163/

But basicly this

2 things still on the request list

1. All food bowls and food enrichtments and Water bowls etc always full.
2. Refresh animal market without the need to adopt an animal just to refresh, just let us refresh until we get the animal we like and want.

Also ATM machines and vending machines still seem to break down

I am surprised about the seeming lack of exitement for the guided tours. They improve even further upon educators.
From there on, I could see school classes being added for tours. Still hoping we will get the tools for educational cinemas and to create functional exhibitions guests can interact with and gain education from.
Cant be too excited about a feature for the ugly planet coastarians that tank my framerate, where they just walk around as allways but now follow an educator.

Its an okay feature, but nothing that makes me want to play outside of sandbox mode or even just let those framerate destroyers into my park.

So yeah practically meaningless feature for me and i bet im not alone with this thought

But im happy for everyone who likes it and still appreciate it, afterall jts free

For me I'm hoping I'll be able to use the guided tours to help spread out my guests. It all depends on how you have to set it up, but my idea is that any part of my zoo which traditionally gets less visitors, or sections further back in the park that take longer for guests to get to, could be set as part of a guided tour to get more folks out there.

The spreading out of guests might also help with food, drink, gift shop and restroom crowding or under-utilization too. For example, I've got several zoos that were quite built up before we got restaurants, so I've placed restaurants in the new "expansion loops" in the newer parts of the zoo, but find that fewer guests use them than use the standard food and drink shops that are near the front/center of the zoo. So hopefully this will help me better control where they are when they get hungry.

(Not sure if this next part will be possible or not, but I'd love it if there's a way for the tours to let guests go on staff paths, or simply off path, if the tour route is set to a place that guests can't usually go. This would make it truly a VIP experience.)

Based on what little I know about how the guests and staff function, they wouldn't be able to go off-path. They are intrinsically linked to the paths themselves - for the staff, it seems like they adopt "guest navigation" outside of habitats, and "animal navigation" inside of habitats, which is what allows them to move freely to enrichment, feeders and poop. However, the idea of having guided tours capable of taking guests "behind the scenes" is a fantastic one and should be technically possible.

You know what, though? This is making me wish the vehicles had an educator posted on them, giving talks as they go around the tracks.

Yep! It would be great if the tour could include rides. (Though I'm not expecting or predicting that).

In a way, you can already set up the transport rides to work as an educational tour, just placing down education speakers just under or over the track so that riders are forced to learn about the animals they see. But of course would be great to have them even more fully integrated.

I'm more picturing educators as the 'drivers' of the vehicles, just permanently stuck there (like how the vendors on queues are permanently there and not "true" staff members in that sense). While the vehicle goes around, there's just a looped gibberish speech coming from the driver. Not necessarily useful (aside from a continuous education bonus) but in terms of immersion it would be pretty neat. It would certainly get me to actually use the rides (even my low-budget local zoo has a vehicle tour loop).

Not so excited about the dioramas myself, plus that 'trend' is now well forgotten.
I'm more bothered by the fact that a random streamer who knows more about rollercoasters than zoos apparently has enough passive influence to get features added to the game. I genuinely can't think of a single instance that anyone in the community at large has asked for the ability to create dioramas.

In general I'm quite excited for this update, even though it seems smaller than things we had before. Especially the bulldozer tool is one of the most useful things that have been introduced to this game. I'm kinda wondering how it will deal with groups of objects though, but I guess we'll see.

Rudi had a cool idear and it doesnt seem like the hardest of features to implement.
Ask sallands adventure "zoo", but while its called planet zoo its also just the best building game on the market in general.
Dinoramas are a neat building challange and giving it a dedicated mode makes them more accessible, which really doesnt hurt anybody and is quite nice.
While i dont know much about how long implementing the mode propaply would have took, but if we imagine just 500 people spending one hour in the mode thats 500 hours of New gameplay thanks to the new mode, which will be more then most new additions can boast about.
Or is anybody here intending to spend alot of extra time on the game because of the tours?

I understand why this can be a meh addition to those focused on their big zoos, but realisticly it will propaply be among the free update features that people will spend by far the most time on, so it really cant be called a bad addition.
Its good and honestly just really nice that they even creddited that "random streamer" for his cool idear

Totally agree. Besides, it's great to see Frontier interact more with their streamers who seem to have already had some influence on what Frontier has implemented in-game (also because this keeps them more active and thus the community more alive). It already was a running joke that items on which the Koali crew worked through creative ways were later included in the game. Nice that Rudi gets some credit for it now.
