Planet Zoo: Wetlands Animal Pack arriving 12 April

Does This looks like a sloth or is it just me??

I think one thing is certain, everyone is surprised by the wetlands, many of us were already certain about South America 2.0 or a tropical pack. I would say that the CMs did a good job keeping us uncertain until the last moment.

The pack itself is alright, even if I would have preferred flying birds (still hoping for those), I am glad we finally got the crane as a bird addition at least.
I'm most excited about the small clawed otter, the platypus, the crane and the capybara. The danube crested newt is native to my region, so I'm very glad to see more central european animals in exhibits.

My critique of this pack: "The Wetlands Animal Pack contains many of the community’s most requested animals" is quoted from the steam page, which is partially true but it also contains many of the community's least requested animals. The Spectacled Caiman doesn't appear in our meta wishlist at all, the Water Buffalo has only 3 votes (0.8% of the community that participated in the list), the Nile Lechwe has only got a single vote!

Overall I will buy this pack, it has some great animals, but with only 4 great animals and 3 poor choices, this might as well have become a standard pack. Lots of waisted potential and many better choices over those 3 animals that barely anyone in the community asked for. That's just my personal opinion here.

Frontier is not obligated to base their choices on the meta wishlist. A water buffalo is neat, the caiman IMO should had been the first choice for a caiman rather than the first one (and a third alligatorid is a bit much IMO), and, overall, I'd rather have animal packs than standard ones; a thememaker's toolkit like the one Planet Coaster has would be better than having building pieces instead of animals.

Yay the short clawed otters, I can quite easily loose hours of my day just watching their playful antics at the zoo here. Please make pebble enrichment toys a thing if not already.
I can imagine the platypus becoming another favourite of mine.
I must admit I was unfamiliar with the Nile Lechwe so I admit to googling to confirm what it was and I think it is another great addition. That's one of the things i love about Planet Zoo - you play an awesome game and get educated at the same time.
I'm excited about all the new animals in the pack. The newts would probably be the first animal to add to my franchise zoo because they can live next to the salamanders. However I think the first habitat animal I will try to add will be the Asian water buffalo for the Indian zone but I bet they will cost like 8000 conservation credits so maybe the crane will be first.

This was unexpected! But I like it very much. Capybara, Asian small clawed otter and a crane in one pack! Fantastic.
Although I have to say that the nile lechwe probably is my secret favourite. It's a really interesting antelope species and highly endangered, so good choice! And my local zoo keeps a breeding group in their large savannah habitat, so I always had a soft spot for them :D
And I'm very happy for everyone who wanted a platypus plus it's finally another Australian species.
It's weird to include the wild water buffalo since there aren't any in captivity but they are looking close enough to a domestic one, so I'm fine with it. I wanted an Asian bovid, though I've chosen the banteng or anoa.
The spectacled caiman is the only one that's a bit disappointing. If I've chosen another crocodilian, then an African species. On the other hand the spectacled caiman is one of the most common crocodilians in zoos, so not that bad to have them. Still another bird like a pelican would have been more exciting.
Another European exhibit species is also nice to have.

Overall a great pack in my opinion.

I agree the caiman wasn't a great pick, either another bird or the Nile crocodile (which actually does have some decent votes) would've been a better option. But honestly from a theming point the lechwe and buffalo make a lot of sense. They are pretty iconic wetlands creatures. We already have the beaver added, so that doesn't fit in this pack, but it would have. Same with the alligator. I mean honestly the lechwe probably makes more sense than the red river hog does for this pack.

Really I think they only big thing they missed on was another caiman, and in general another crocodilian, instead of a second bird species, like an egret, duck, pelican or goose species. Hopefully we are done with crocs now haha

Wow. Loving what I see here so far. I can't wait for this update.

This is probably not the place, but I have to mention this: I just cant get over how well that theme from the music just fits this game so well. Its synonymous with the game, and I love it. Hearing it here, again, really makes me feel good about this update - and the game in general.

Obviously this opinion could be summed up by criticism because it does not conform to the general enthusiasm, because always when something is announced "how beautiful, extraordinary, etc..."

After several months of waiting what we have new? For me little or nothing that improves the dynamics of the game, probably the only interesting thing, if I understand correctly, will be the possibility of creating better swimming pools for the animals since the previous system made this operation very boring and with bad results.

Important objects have not been implemented that are still missing, such as gates and entry doors to habitats which are realistic and not that we have to create ourselves, many more realistic animal feeder structures, modified exhibit system (the current one is useless for many animals such as insects, and the possibility of creating larger exhibits suitable for some animals such as the armadillo, small monkeys, small carnivores, etc...), there is a serious lack of playgrounds for children visiting the zoo and related behaviors.

Many months to announce only 8 animals, most of which are simple remodeling of others already existing. Obviously great pleasure for the capybara and great surprise for the platypus, nile lechwe and the crowned crane. The otter is a great addition that comes after the absolutely unpopular giant otter in zoos, so is a remodeling. The water buffalo a great addition but a remodel. The caiman ... there are very few of them, few crocodiles and caimans ingame, so we needed it badly :cautious: this is a super remodel. And the exhibit animals? I don't understand why there must only be 1 added per pack, why? If you have made the choice to include these types of animals in the game, why underrepresent them every time? If you have made this choice there must be many or in any case in a number similar to habitat animals.

I will be heavily criticized, but I see in these choices only the logic of making maximum gains with minimum effort. I don't like the fact that Frontier has great economic and personal power and is limited to doing the simple homework. All the packs are underrepresented in the number of animals, many super popular animals in zoos are not there yet, a lot of monkeys are missing, a lot of iconic animals are missing, and most of all there is a totally lack of birds and flying system. It is true the logic of the release has always been this, but every time I always have the hope that it will change but unfortunately it is not. This does not mean that I will not buy the pack, I own them all, I like the game, but there are still many improvements and animals to implement and I don't know how long there will be new packs and if the type of release policy does not change I will be disappointed from what it could have been and instead it was not.

But there are also people living in Australia potentially playing this game 😉. So it is not an animal which is not hold in any Zoo of the world.
They indeed aren't really rare in Australian zoos, but I still wouldn't consider them the best choice, as there are still a lot of difficulties when it comes to breeding them. Nonetheless, I'm happy for the ones that wanted them

While I let the new animals to sink in, I want to point two things:

- I really appreciate that all the continents have received at least an animal this time. I hope this is the new trend: getting animals from different regions in each pack.

- I am really tired of the new timed scenarios. Can gwe get a normal one, please?????
