Why would you be amazed? There is at least one of these Guilt Trip based advertisements for Open Mode a week on here. As someone else pointed out... Odd how you never see similar adverts to join Solo or Private Groups.
Why is that?
The fact that none of these OPs can post one of these threads without getting in at least a couple of jabs about being afraid, hiding, or whatever other derogatory innuendo you can come up with isn't lost on us either.
Do they not understand that it is more the unpleasant, passive aggressive/confrontational attitude of so many of the Open Mode fanboys that is the primary turn-off?
I've always said that all the "No one plays in Open Mode anymore" whiners are their own worst enemies.

I’ve had plenty of Open experiences - all negative - right down to some hero who apparently macroed a string of obscenities and proceeded to spam the chat channel my last time out.
Yea. You keep it and I’ll stick to a PG. I see other pilots there just fine and don’t have to worry about being station-rammed by some keyboard commando.

There is a 66 page thread in general called "Open Play Trolls". One person says something nice about it in the same forum, and the usual faces are here saying the same old garbage, one even asking for the thread to be moved to another section of the forum. If that other thread can stand, why not this? To be quite fair, I see far more aggresive and insulting behavior from those who oppose open than the ones that urge others to consider trying it. I made friends with many players that are hated for their murder-hobo'ing just by fighting them when they attacked me and conversating with them. In the end, we all have the right to play how we wish, so long as we aren't preventing the enjoyment of others. With private groups and solo, everyone has a safe place to play.
To those that hate pvp'ers, remember: you can hate them all you want, but escape is a mode swap away. They can't chase you into private or solo to ruin your day. One of the reasons I wholeheartedly endorse playing all modes to find your own fit. I just wish the private groups on xbox were larger (unless they got ninja buffed) so more people could enjoy a pvp-free galaxy.

But trying to convince people this way is only going to end one way:

How about everyone just play whatever mode is good for them?
I play SOLO in VR due to limited keyboard access for comms or if I’m focused on a task and don’t want to be disturbed.
I play PG in one of several groups depending on if I want to do something like exploring a Guardian puzzle with like minded players who value the same things in game that I do.
I play OPEN when I want to meet new people and be generally social and see what’s happening in hot spots and don’t mind being sidetracked or waylaid. I also like to join random crews if there are any.
I play ARENA when I want to have some quick combat in great environments that is more exciting to me than ships circling each other in space. (and when I can get a match)
