Carriers can be attacked? Yes, but you most likely don't want to as they have defenses like stations...

Can a carrier be destroyed? Not as far as I know.

Can they be damaged? Not as afar as I know...

They're like stations but mobile...
Thank you for the very detailed explanation. o7

There is not a single instance in the game where the Thargoids have ever attacked first.
I've been blown up by Interceptors multiple times, for no reason... wasn't carrying anything they hated or doing anything to provoke them. They just hyperdicted me, got angry, and blew me up, while I sat there helpless.
Sadly I don't have any video evidence so you'll have to take this anecdote as it is....

You did something to trigger that, it doesn't happen 'just because', this is a fact.

I had that happen recently too, but it turns out that I ran into it since I didn't have NV on at the time....

Hmm... that's what happened. I check my ship journals, and it shows a Thargoid blowing me up after I got hyperdicted:

Still, I did nothing to aggrevate the Interceptor after it hyperdicted me; I had no cargo racks or weaponry in my ship at the time, and it shut my entire ship down down before I even saw it, so I couldn't have collided with it. Also of interest is that the killer was identified as scout_q... do Scouts spawn with hyperdictions now? I'm so confused... but I know what I saw...

Fascinating, however you were jumping into a post-Salvation's-weapons incursion system. There are reported incidences of Thargoids attacking all who enter an incursion system, which is completely justified as we've been making incursions into their systems for many years.

I'm definitely interested by this report, and I've never seen anything like it before. Commline me if you'd like to communicate further.

theres definitely a trick to avoiding hyperdiction hostility, normally killing the throttle does ok, but lately i've been drifting backwards from them in fa-off dropping 1t of Ma's during normal travel.

out of character:
this is a great role playing opportunity to feel like you are doing something out of the old school games, is relatively easy for new players (though of course the weapon will fail explosively and sirius will steal the plans) and it doesn't involve brutally boring BGS or ganking

Sure the profits aren't huge and id recommend scouting the markets before jumping in a trade carrier - this is especially poor compared to what's on offer to AX but that's always been case hasn't it (unfairly so imho). BUT profits and rewards aren't really the point of this exercise, essentially we are all just kids pretending to be astronauts.

According to the timestamp this event was during the incursion.

Interceptors in HIP 22460 currently act the same way, they will attack you on sight without even bothering to scan first.
That behaviour is supposedly unique to HIP 22460 though, and I don't think we've ever seen it before. Then again, I rarely visit incursion systems.

I guess we just need to ask the Thargoids to build a genocidal superweapon somewhere and point it at us, so we can demonstrate the appropriate response. Obviously we would take great care to ensure that any Thargoids headed to the site of that weapon are indeed there with bad intentions before opening fire.

Just dropped roughly 3000 of the cheapest Energy Grid Assemblies in the bubble at one of your carriers. I didn't ask the guy why he was getting rid of them at that price, so anyhow, no refunds.

As an aside, when you are putting out a purchase order on a carrier that requires goods from outside the system, it's kind and efficient to park your carrier(s) around the main star instead of a planet. Your delivery partners will be grateful for the shorter trip and less exposure to possible interdiction.

Thank you for your contribution, you're welcome to continue supporting us. I'm told the California Nebula is a bit lacking in said components.

And yes, I probably should've placed them a bit better. The remote star map data feeds weren't very good, I have to say.

Additionally, the placement of the MSV carriers does of course follow a carefully designed pattern to optimise the efficiency of our Breakwater "blanket". Due to the nature and location of the main star(s) of some systems it was necessary to allow for the carriers to orbit closer to each other than would have been possible at the main star, thus strengthening the interference patterns of the radiation sources required.

Hi. I can't offer a carrier, but I fight against Azimuth Biotech in the Maia System at the moment. Trying to hinder them and reduce their influence there. #Wychhunt ✌️

To clarify: We're a separate initiative to OWH. I previously lead the original anti-Salvation resistance movement during the Cornsar incident.

You're free to help both though, the more trouble we can pile on for Azimuth the better. I'm hoping that the combination of forced retreats by OWH, our forces intercepting and disabling cargo vessels delivering the supplies and now this operation will cover all three bases.

Greetings commanders, a short campaign update.

I'm pleased to announce that we've hit approximately 49,136T delivered across all involved carriers. In order for our initiative to hit "tier 1", we need approximately 72,000T. Each additional 72,000T filled will count as "another tier", beyond that. However, once we have hit the first tier, we will begin immediately assembling further interference devices and distributing them across the remaining carrier fleet. Additional units will, at this point, be installed aboard the Dionysus as well - to make use of her immense fusion reactor capacity.

I implore all of you to continue your deliveries, and thank all those who have already delivered for their contributions. We are severely lacking in quantities of Radiation Baffles, which are a core component of the devices themselves, so I would like to request those - alongside energy grid assemblies - be prioritised.

There are many locations within the Witch Head and Coalsack nebulae which provide manufacturing capabilities for Computer Components, however our shipping capacity is spread so thin that we cannot retrieve it ourselves. Please consider doing so if you wish for a relatively short journey of approximately two or three jumps and still wish to benefit from our generous price offer.

Thank you all for your assistance so far, please keep it coming.
Right on, Commanders.
