I got as far as Camp#1 on the Jaques Jaunt before realising I hadn't signed up for the CG!
But I'm coming anyway!! (No way am I missing Disaster Area playing!).
Carrying some limpets too, but knowing my luck the Station will have Restock functioning just before I get there.

I'm pretty sure you can sign up at Jaques just before selling your cargo.

Feel sorry for the guy that was 10,000LY into his trip to Jaques before he realised he'd forgotten to pick up his cargo! (post on the E: D FB page...)

Oh noes. I feel for them, that is a stinker of a mistake.

EDIT: for CG's you sign up at the "hosting" station so in this case Jacques. Make sure you sign up before you sell your cargo though or it won't count. Go straight to the missions board and sign up before you do anything else once you have docked.

So how does it work? Do you just sell your stuff at Jacques and it counts towards the CG? If you were supposed to sign up before leaving then I am toasted as well!

Well.. yeah. :D

I might be wrong, but as i said, as far as i know, theres no mission board at Jaques at the moment.

Someone whos on location could you please confirm this... ?

EDIT: According to few confirmations in Discord, there is mission board including only the CG and you can join the CG at Jaques!

Last I checked there was a board there, with no missions other than the CGs going around. And yes, the way that you contribute is that you sell your items in the comm market. It may take a second to update your "tons contributed" (it did for me, and it spooked me good). Unless something has changed. With a trip this far out I would recommend caution!

REGARDING THE TRADE CG

I'd like to congratulate everyone for pitching in, For making the daring journey to Jaques Station. To the first time explorers and the seasoned.
It was an epic journey, an opening of a new chapter in our collective narrative. Even is some of us didn't make it. You will and should be remembered for attempting the journey.
By friends, by comrades, by the community, you can hold your head up and say.

"I pitched in for Jaques... I travelled 22 kylies into the black, yes even if i didn't make it in time. I pitched in for Jaques"

I think what we need is a monument.
a memorial. a record for all those who pitched in. Similar to that of the SagA* visitors list but more time specific to this CG because this was an epic CG and no matter if we made it or not we all have our own personal stories of the Jaunt to Jaques.

Thank you for coming out this way. Every one of you showed Frontier Dev what our community wanted by making this journey. Thank you.

Now with that out of the way:
If you guys are interested in creating a memorial thread, let's do that. you folks need to be remember and recognised. whether you managed to make it in time or not.

What do you all think?

REGARDING THE MINING CG

There's still much more work to be done.

Grab some a refinery and a mining laser and a prospector limpet controller start heading out there.

If you have space do get a collector limpet controller. if not switch out the prospector limpet controller with the Collector limpet controller and group up with a friendly bigger ship who can carry the prospector limpet controller.

The mining CG requires you to mine Osmium! it has an 8% rarity so don't worry yourself if you don't find every rock with it.

Hear! Hear!.. and yes a memorial thread like the Sag-A thread would be fitting way to remember this event in Elite history! +1

This was a special CG unlike any other, not only due to the distance involved to take part, but also because it can lead to some interesting times with future Elite events and content.

The whole way this has evolved, from the moment of Jaques' Big Jump CG, to his disappearance, to the search at Beagle Point, to his discovery by Cly, to your initiative to get him operational, to the beginning of the mass Exodus via the Jaunt to Jaques event, and how FD have finally embraced the players' long desire to build a colony. All steps along the way that seem to be growing organically out of player action and desire to make something out of this [up]

I'm feeling slightly embarrassed at the moment as I was about to equip and head out in a new ship to add some tonnage to the CG! Talk about missing the boat.

Well - I've uncovered an engineer who only talks to miners and I've never mined in my life! I wonder if I should equip a ship with the requisite equipment and head out anyway...

mining equip can already be bought at Jaque, so you could go out there without to have a slightly better jump range...

Do it, I'm finding it quite relaxing TBH, gonna stay for a while. My T9's loooong 14LY-range slog is now forgiven after seeing how effective it is at strip-mining asteroids. :D

(I'm never flying it 22KLY fully laden ever again.... no..... NO! )

My T-9 jumps 18Ly with full cargo, but for me that jump range isnt a problem than that hideous turning rate.
No way im even looking the system map while jumping as i dont want find out that i have to do 180 degree turn because theres ELW somewhere.. :D

But what comes to mining, i have done it since Elite was launched and find it one of the best relaxing chores around Elite universe.
Just me, my T-9 and thousands of rocks full of goodies. :)
But its not for everyone, i bet there will be dozens of cmdrs trying mining for the very first time at Jaq and after couple of runs quit, as it requires a bit of roleplaying to get your mood right..
If you do it only for the money, just forget it. Same as with exploration, you dont do it for the money.

(although i must be honest, i doubt i can do this on a daily basis for the next 3 weeks at Jaq without getting rock madness.. ) :D
