Please, make kerbs on paths toggleable!

A solution would be open up the game more to modding. They are often way better in perfecting a game.

A Cities Skylines 1 approach. If we could have easy mods, a checkbox to remove path kerbs probably would be added within a few days.

And then Frontier can focus on big things like DLC and ride packs

If they added TMTK I would be working for them for free to add scenery night and day... like I did for a while in PC1.

They also had this mindset with the first game, very cautious to allow custom content, do not want to support modding and so on. Only took them years to add custom billboards and so on. Whoever is in charge there is absolutely frightened to death that it would harm game or DLC sales. But a game like Cities Skylines 1 has provided evidence that this is not the case. If anything, a game becomes much more successful and gets so much more sales because of the endless replay ability. Cities Skylines 1 still released plenty of DLC afterwards. But then came Cities Skylines 2, and clearly some very wrong design decisions were made. They had the winning formula and still decided to mess it up somehow. And now the same thing is happening with Planet Coaster 2. Something has gone horribly wrong in the corporate or business or customer communication or community handling in the past few years where whoever is in charge is absolutely oblivious in what makes a good game.

Who knows.. Maybe letting corporate people with degrees because they are good at looking at numbers but know nothing about gaming be in charge of the end quality of a game wasn't such a smart move.

I just wish they would let whoever the current Chris Sawyer is there over at Frontier that he takes the lead and try to fix the game to his vision with a chef's kiss instead of just trying to run a team of people do all kind of weird corporate stuff or whatever they are doing, just hire people that know what makes a game great or something. No offense to the artists and programmers working there and so on or anything please dont get me wrong, they make amazing looking stuff better than any modder at home ever could. I'm talking purely about the people who run the business and especially how they run it.

Is there any info on this to get? Should be easy. Send a hotfix for it like today..I see they NEVER even answered this here eighter.

Almost March and they still haven't even acknowledged it...

Seems to be a complicated thing...
I would assume that's a lot easier to have none at all instead of having them on the path edges (especially with the new path tool).

Maybe they have to rework the complete path tool for this. I would be happy if they would do so (incl. free path widths for all kinds of paths)...

I just wish they would say something like "Yes we know you all want it but we can't because of this and that"

Much better than ignoring it for half a year driving all of us mad because nobody understands why it was no problem in pc1 but it is a problem suddenly in pc2

That I would like to know as well. WHY? But as I unsderstand from the answer on my post on steam its in the plans but no date wich means LONG.

Im not trying to tell you off or warning you of any kind, I just want to express an observation. Do you realise you have an (unintentional) habit of closing lots of your contributions and request with a negative sidenote?

Very often I agree with you on the matter itself, like I would love to see toggle's for kerbs! But often I choose not to reply as I don't want to +1 the negative remark. In this case I dont want to +1 your remark that the toggle will take long to add.

Custom music, Custom images, etc etc, and even a complete Western theme are being delivered in pretty rapid rates.I think Frontier is doing their utmost best to crush bugs and add much desired features. Im very happy they acknowledged the kerb's request whcih means it's on their radar. Thats not a confirmation it will ever come, not a confirmation it will come soon. But for the same token, it also doesn't confirm it will take long. For all we know it -could- even be added in the next update, we simply don't know.

Again im not trying to tell you off, I just want to give you an advice. Try to leave out the (unintentional) negative sidetone and observe how people will respond to you.
On the issue itself I will definatly +1 the request! A toggle for kerbs would be very welcome and would open up another range of things we could do!

I would love to know why things that were previously available in PC1 are seemingly so difficult to impliment in PC2.

From a layman's perspective (me), it looks very much the same as PC1 & PZ, and with the Cobra engine being developed by Frontier you would imagine it would be easy to convert things over, but obviously not.

Seriously people have no idea how annoying and game breaking these kerbs are

Everytime I start a project and then close the game and do something else because of how annoying it is.

For me this is game breaking
i wish i had so few problems in my life that id consider path kerbs gamebreaking...

This is most probably due to the team developing planco 2 isnt the same as planco. That beeing said i dont know anything about coding, programming or game development so id rather not judge on this situation. But yes i also wish that kerbs were toggleable and that we get this feature wirh next update as surprise maybe

I cant say now that I am dissapoined that I think this takes to me long to get that should have been there from start without getting a warning in future? What is that? It is negative to me that it takes to me long. If it is or not only the creator knows.

Features of PC1, PZ and PC2

Obviously PC1, PZ and PC2 do have the same base functionality (except animals). At least everything we got in all three games should have the same ground principle to work in these three games. In special cases with some advantages of further development. It's the same Cobra game engine, but in a newer version (comparing PC1 and PC2).

Scenery, especially grid pieces should be transferable (maybe with higher resolution paintings) easily. In this case let's exclude resizable scenery. But scenery isn't completely different.
Ride building is the same and stations work the same odd way as they did before.
The same with stalls.

So what happened to the PC1/PZ development team and their knowledge?

Or do we have all those issues in former working things, just because of the one game for all platforms ideology?

We would understand it if PC2 would have been developed by a different studio...

Only Frontier knows, but it's really strange.

Actually it seems that PC2 better should have been delayed by one year...

Priorities are different for each player. For some people having toggleable kerbs is something essential that should be fixed immediately. For other people, fixing the textures of water rides like log flumes and rapids and adding more flexibility to them is more important. Other players might consider more important to get vista points or security guards back. Some people will consider the lack of restaurants and hotels unacceptable. There might be also someone who would give priority to getting customisable height tower rides. And the list goes on.

And some people were luckier and their priorities were taken care of first, like those wanting billboards, round bottom flumes or bringing old themes back.

My point is that we are about to get update 3 and they have already proved that they are reacting to our feedback. However Frontier can't fix everything at once, so it takes time. Asking for a specific feature every single day doesn't speed the process. I know it's frustrating having some features from the original game missing, and I'm sure at this point Frontier is aware of it, but we have to be patient.

Hmm, tbh i wouldnt consider delivering hald baked updates to a half baked game as „proving us“ that they are reacting to our feedback. To be completely honest i feel quite the opposite. Custom music was great, however none at frontier thought about telling us before the update dropped that custom music wont be available on rides. Custom billboards are also cool untill you start to notice that 2 of them simply despawn completely when reloading the park, and some of them simply crash your game when playing videofile.
Not only that, but then frontier goes on to post about „unlocked“ and puts a completely wrong date on the picture.

For a company that is in the position frontier is with planco 2, those are things that only keep adding to the list of lack of quality and at least i can tell for me, when i f something up at work, i take responsibility for my mistakes and i at least try to pay more attention next time i do sometthing related to said work. Frontier is lacking all of that.

Just my thoughts on what you wrote there :) not trying to attack anyone or their opinion, just trying to understand other peoples view on this
