Hello FDevs! I wanted to make plotting suggestions regarding certain missions and emergency response RNG tool. As an FYI I currently play this game on PS4.
Currently once we accept a mission there is a convenient button in the Transaction Tab in the mission description that takes us to the galaxy map and centers us over the system. This is great although as it is, this is just short of actually targeting the destination and requires loading the galaxy map then the system map before looking for the marked planet/station.
My suggestion is if the mission requires you to go to a specific station or planet with no additional variables in it, like scanning to unlock further instructions, that a "plot route" shortcut be added to the mission in the transactions tab. This would remove a good portion of loading in game assets that don't actually need to be loaded to get you on course. With how many "data deliveries/transport/take passenger X to" are needed to be completed throughout your time playing this game I spend a great deal of time loading assets that seem to cause a large amount of game stutter or loading which really don't need to be viewed to serve my purposes.
Adding a distance tool tip to the "plot route" button on the mission would also help a player determine if they should access the galaxy map for greater distances to make sure they know they have to scoop along the way.
One more additional feature that would help during long distance travel would be to add a selection from the ship navigation menu that says "Emergency Services". There would be a few of selections:
Repair: This plots you to the nearest station that can accommodate you ship size and repair your ship.
Fuel Star: This plots you to the nearest reachable fuel star for scooping.
S.O.S. Beacon: This has multiple utilities depending on if you are Open Play or Private/Solo play and can only be clicked if the player is stranded in a system with no station and no fuel star with under a minute of fuel left.
Open play result and risk: Clicking S.O.S. would send a message like those random NPC mail missions to the nearest online player which they could accept or deny. Denying would pass the message on to another nearby player and there could me limits to this rtc... In the message it would say something like "This is an automated distress call signal generated by (CMDR Name) to nearest pilot: Hello commander. I am stranded in (system name). My fuel is (fuel%) and my (cockpit status if broken). My oxygen will inevitably run out (add oxygen timer if it is currently counting down). I don't know if you can reach me in time but it would mean a great deal to me if you did. We all make mistakes, please help me not make this my last..."
Result in solo play:
% chance of the following:
Wanted/Pirate shows up and scans you. If you have cargo pirate laughs and hatch breaks you saying "I would have been sorry to see that cargo go to waste." If no cargo then pirate says "No cargo? You'd be better off drifting in to the nearest star you careless heap. I might just stay to watch the fireworks."
Alternate result:
Search and rescue NPC shows up. (Like the ones that occasionally appear in USS). Scans you. If you are Wanted: "Wanted? The nerve you have asking for help. What goes around comes around buddy." (Rescue ship FSD away).
If you're clean: "It's a good thing I was nearby. Space is cold and lifeless but that doesn't mean you have to be." (Rescue ship launches fuel and repair limpits).
