News Powerplay Beta Date Update

Good to hear this! Hoping that the BGS has been updated, upgraded, and repaired! Looking forward to seeing if we can break it during the beta!
 
Y'all take your time, Micheal. I'd rather get a solid update a week late than a buggy update right now. Keep up the good work. I patiently await the greatness that is 1.3 :D
 
Hi everyone,

We want to update you on the Powerplay release. The team are working really hard on what is going to be a huge and very exciting update and earlier today in my weekly post I said we were still tracking to release the Beta next week.

However, in order to be sure we release the best build we can we have now decided to move the Beta release out by up to an additional week, depending on progress, so I wanted to let you know as soon as possible. This also means the release date of Powerplay will change.

We will of course keep you updated. We really appreciate your understanding.

Powerplay is looking very good, and it’s a major update so it’s better to give it a little more time, and also we'll appreciate as many of you as possible helping with the Beta!

Very confusing update Mr M. Brookes.

Conclusions/Concerns:

a) 1.3 released NOT in Spring 2015 but in Summer 2015.

b) Kind of big confusement created. 1.2 is a project with more than 2 months worktime, you announced last week that it will be released at a specific date, only to cancel the statement a few days later? Answer I guess is a).

c) not a single bug (of the many) which have been created in 1.2 has been fixed? Some have been affecting even community goals (3 times I recall already)

I really hope here, that FD has implemented integration of 1.2-->1.3 with known bugs fixed, or else, I predict even more bugs to show up once 1.3 is released.

Guess I will start pirating a bit, just to "create" my own content till 1.3 is out...

Awwwwww, disappointing, but fully understandable.

That's fine. For a game in constant development, crunch mode will be counter-productive in the long run.

And I really believe that burnt-out artists and coders produce lower quality work, so don't worry too much about deadlines. We'll be sticking around for a long time. And this gives me time to go check out GTA V. :)
 
Coolio. I'll hang out on the outer rims a bit longer then. There's always another juicy Anaconda to chase round a rock.

Yes, probably the effort placed in the mystery solving activity push FD to put something more into the galaxy.

Take your time guys. This is a big and important step.

The sandbox is beautiful, but we need more sand in it, and a lot more buckets and spades :)

a) Funny how a one week delay suddenly sounds like a full season just because that week happens to cross over the calendar month by a few days. If you're really going to be nitpicky, shouldn't "summer" be if it was released June 21st? It's a week, nothing more.

b) They announced a release, only to realize at this point that some things are going to require a bit more time to do it right. This is hardly a unique situation and we've seen what happens when devs push to make a mandated deadline. A week isn't a big deal. (See a) )

c) don't you remember when 1.2 came out and when the release notes were made public just how much more little tweaks and fixes there were than what had been discussed previously? They're focused on hyping what's new, that doesn't mean they aren't fixing things as well. Fixing things just aren't as sexy for dev updates and news letters.

If the beta is not released by midnight tonight, then I will destroy Lave station... Oh okay then have an extra week....

We're suppose to get the Steam keys on the 28th. Since this date seems connected to the Powerplay release, will this also be delayed now? Might be smart to make that clear for everyone if that's the case...I really don't want to hear another "Where is steam key!?"...;)

its sad to hear that it might be pushed an extra week.. but hey so far the game has been a fantastic experience and the best so far! for the price that it is.
 
Good news for me - I'm away form the game for a week, so the timing is perfect to let me run a good test!

/selfish point of view

Realistically, I think we are all happy to have a delayed Beta, and/or extended Beta if it means better results. As a member of one of the groups testing and playing witht he background sim, I am really, really looking forward to this Beta, and the release.
