News Powerplay Beta Date Update

Truth is universal dear, it doesn't depend on opinions.

Truth says Powerplay is delayed by a season.

Truth also says that the bugs created in 1.2 were not addressed as we have been told they would. And I am sure you know they are toooo many. More than 1.0, more than 1.1.

The above are not opinions, are facts.

Truth says delay will likely cross a seasonal boundary. "delayed by a season" intentionally implies something different.
Playing with connotation in this way deliberately confuses.
Playing with connotation is the tool of the troll.
/last comment to avoid wasting time.

If the current game is considered a complete release, I'm skeptical to see what FD considers a 'beta'. Please do take all the time you need to make it better. The framework for this sandbox is excellent and holds limitless promise, but that's all it is at the moment, a sandbox filled with 400 billion identical grains of sand.

Omm, maybe you are right, but you know something? We were told powerplay will be released in Spring 2015. Not summer 2015. :) So we have been waiting for the last 2 months for this release which would have come "soon".

Soon is so relative...

No worries, ED is great as it is now. 1.3 will just make it better so, I'm, personally, in no hurry. I'd much rather have them take their time as opposed to releasing it too buggy or incomplete.

I waited and tested for about 9 months or so, no big deal and well worth it. IMO. YMMV but, I think most of us would much rather they take a week or whatever they need to get it where they feel it's beta test ready.

I give the devs that we aren't allowed to talk to a lot of crap sometimes but, taking their time on a release sure isn't something I'll complain about.

So is Solo Play going to still be around after the Power Play update is released? I hope so,don't want to be forced into playing with others and I despise PvP.

If that question was answered already I apologize.

I have never been a strong proponent of rushing things at any rate. A view slightly conflicting with my impatient nature of course. But without ( internal) conflict, there will be complacency, the first casualty of any surprise that might arise. So let the waiting games begin! In the end we shall all win!

I really hate it when things get delayed on December 31st, and don't arrive until January 1st. I mean, DELAYED BY A YEAR, come ON! (Fact!)

I would rather see a great update that works than a rushed out patchwork of stuff.

I just hope powerplay also gives some unloved aspects of the game some love, mainly mining.

right now it´s just a big waste of time. and it´s a shame because I enjoy it. but scanning the asteroids until something mining-worthy is found, then getting lost in the asteroid field because you cannot mark which one was mined and which one was not ist just a pain in the rear.
the mining drones will help to scoop stuff up, but I don´t think its the main mining mechanic that needs to be adressed.

anyways. game is great. just needs tweeking.
and I am loking forward for it.

Can't wait for the mining drones :) Now ya don't have to chase the pieces around the system,I so hated that :(

Yes it would be cool to mark them,I have lost track what I scanned also :(

Perchance you've never worked in software development? ;)

I do work in the IT department.

And because I know how complicated it is I have asked at least twice that FD allocates more HR in software development since I've noticed things are stalling (for the last 2 months) at least.... Let us not forget the million of pounds the company made only with the release in steam.

Blame my foresight and my Management Degrees.

Also, if a game is constant development, then I expect frequent bug fixes and tweaks. This actually was the reality prior to 1.1 (weekly), while it changed when ppl were allocated to work on the Mac, Steam, Xbox etc release.

Stop being a noob...

We didn't have bug fixes since 1.2. (2 months+ and counting). And as said earlier, the bugs appeared were a lot with 1.2.

If you are happy of people fooling you, that's your problem.

How much did you pay for the Powerplay update you said?

As much I paid for the 30 playable ships. As much as I paid for a game that I was told would be in continuous development. Continuous development I understand frequent, not once per season.

better hurry, i (and others) are slowly losing interest in the game and once they are gone they wont come back so quick.

Yes, yes. Rush, rush, rush. Don't get it done right, just get it done. Then you can complain that the developers released it before it was ready and that the bugs and/or broken mechanics are making you lose interest in the game.
As frustrating as the wait is... I'm glad that FDev is willing to admit that they need more time instead of pushing this thing out before it is ready. We shouldn't expect the Beta of 1.3 to be perfect but FDev is well aware that early reviews of 1.3 in Beta are going to be of huge importance.
I only wish they would have revealed a few more hints about who the starting factions will be governed by in PowerPlay. So far we have just the one picture of Denton Patreus. I'd sure like to see Hudson or Halsey.

Actually ship position is KEY for mining, if you position yourself correctly (re:- the rotation of the asteroid) as you blast it, the fragments will float towards you so you only need very minor thruster adjustments in order to collect them and certainly no "chasing" involved.

Personally I'll still be mining manually even when these "lazy mode" drones arrive ;)

Generally I have no problems with a delay of a big update if it's for quality purposes. But here we have two problems IMHO:
-Why delay a beta? Isn't the goal of a beta to improve the quality and find critical bugs? So the product is not even ready for a beta, that's no good sign.
-The last little bugfix update is over 4 weeks old. It seems the development is focused now on Mac, Xbox and Powerplay. I prefer the release early, release often strategy Frontier showed shortly after relase of ED.

hello mates,
I am currently Lieutenant Commander and Lord, I was wondering if I could still level those up after 1.3 comes around or if I should grind to Post Commander and Earl before it's too late ?

The naval missions are getting a bit of a revamp, but your existing ranks will still apply.

I'm sure some people don't know or understand what a Beta is, a Beta follows the same rules as a full release and isn't a bug fest for quality control i can tell you and it'll be released when it's ready otherwise FD would just be crucified and it would be a disservice to the great game that they have built so far.

Are we going to get reminders for where to go to get new rank missions? I remember being told to go to a specific system for the next Imperial rank-up mission when I ranked up to Knight, but I can`t for the life of me remember which one it was.
