Predicting the remaining dlc content

I don’t really want to get back into it, but why do you want the NA pack to be NA specific but the Europe pack to be species with a broad distribution outside Europe?
Because I can't have a sea lion, priarie dog or skunk in a european pack? ;) Not my fault that a lot of european animals that are highly rpresented here are settlers and refugees and most NA animals are not.

So you’d like animals that are found across Eurasia, or even more broadly, across boreal habitats?

Yea, there you go, read at your own risk:

Many thanks

Fair enough- for me, I’d call a pack with species more widespread outside Europe than inside Europe and which are found across Eurasia, a Eurasia pack, but it doesn’t really matter if the animals are the same, does it?

If we are using Random Goat's example: 4+1 pack with Iberian lynx, Alpine ibex, Red deer, European badger and Fire Salamander

That's just an Europe Pack, especially if you consider building pieces for a pack.

Okay just made a little fact check to throw this under the bus once and for all.
I checked up on some of my personal wishes and what i personally want to see in an european dlc.
Fallow deer: originates from mesopotamia, today lives across all of europe, newzealand, southaustralia and some spots in america and africa.
Redfox: Mr worldwide
European badger: exclusive to europe, one subspecies spreads to mesopotamia
Alpine ibex: only lives in the alps, go figure
Chamois: again, europe and mesopotamia
Red deer: europe, today mostly extinct in asia besides some leftover populations
Iberian lynx: iberia, go figure
Eurasian lynx: Mostly lives in asia and skandinavia, with some sprinkled populations left in the rest of europe and mesopotamia

What do we learn from this?
Damn, most of our fauna also lives in mesopotamia, but all live mostly in europe besides the Eurasian lynx and Mr worldwide

I refer you to my earlier answer, and now I play the Africa pack!

I'm also on the bandwagon of the aviary and North American DLCs. I think both are almost guarantees.

North America will need to be a build set pack, then hopefully we can work a few more of NA animals into future animal packs.

Aviary though? Gosh I feel like anything less than a full on expansion just won't be enough! A good $15-$20 expansion pack to get us started and even that would barely scratch the surface of all the birds we need!

Aside from that, I'm expecting perhaps a canine and/or feline pack in the future, since those would be relatively trivial in terms of work load.

I also would LOVE an Arboreal Pack with a full pass at climbing. The climbing can still be jank a lot of the time. An Arboreal Pack would be a chance to add sloths (pretty please!!) as well as update climbing across the board and maybe take a stab at brachiation!

Don't want to derail the topic here, but I don't agree on that being better. To me it isn't important if any european animal is also found on another continent, as long as it is very common in europe. I'd rather have NA reserved for animals that are more NA specific. Racoons, sea lions, you name it.
Personal opinions are what they are - no wrong answers there. I don't think Europe isn't worth it or anything, though. For me it's just that the European animals I want to see the most are more specific to Europe itself (with exception to the red fox). A walkthrough fallow deer habitat would be awesome, the Iberian lynx is a conservation icon, the Alpine ibex is just iconic for what it is, and with exhibit animals the one I always go to is the scheltopusik/European legless lizard, both because it's as close to a snake as New Zealand is allowed so I'm fairly familiar with it, and also because it's just such a weird, unique creature.

Other animals, like the wolverine, I could see in a North American DLC or something, so it isn't as important in my eyes when talking about specifically Europe.

That's a totally different approach than force-merging europe with another continent. It's not downplaying europes fauna or ignoring the fact that europe (including my home country) has a very rich zoo history. That's totally fine with me and doesn't make you a candidate for my ignore list ;) :p

My primary problem with the downtalking of europe isnt that people dont like the animals or something, to each their own, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and preferences and thats okay.
What really Comes of as annoying is the pure disregard of both the importance of european represenration and the blatantly false facts about "eurasia" and that "all european animals also live in asia so they dont deserve their own dlc" talk, something i hopefully have successfully disproven with my other post in this thread.
Im all for a healthy discussion, but pls factcheck next time before claiming we and our fauna are just asias insignificant little cousin

In this thread, at least, I’ve been the one talking about a Eurasia pack, rather than a Europe-only pack. I don’t think the conversation is really heading anywhere very productive but, if this comment was directed towards me (disregard this comment if it wasn’t) I feel I need to defend myself a little, so,…

If I have made any false statements or presented any incorrect facts about Eurasia please let me know and I will happily correct them, as I did when NZFanatic told me that the Iberian Lynx is a distinct species, which I didn’t realise, but think is both cool, and makes it a great inclusion for a potential Europe or Eurasia pack (or as an inclusion in an endangered species pack).

I have not, at any point, said that “all European animals also live in Asia.” Nor have I seen anyone else make this claim.

I do, however, think that animals in a ‘continent X’ pack should be found primarily on continent X… Whether it lives in North America or not, for instance, the Jaguar would not have been a good choice for a North America pack. NZFanatic has noted some species that would be great in a Europe pack. Many of the suggestion lists for animals for a Europe pack, however, largely consist of species mostly found outside of Europe.
